Thank you all for your kindness and the comments. I have so many nice and hilarious memories of all the times we shared. In the later days, I became a Jack sitter rather than a cat sitter as I used to look after Jack when his daughter went away for short breaks. I was also his second emergency contact and I must remember to return his house keys to his daughter. He had a good innings and as has been said by @Penny_Forthem I am so pleased he was at home. I will miss him @Songbird. As I said earlier, he was like a second Dad.

@Busy-Lizzie, I am sure that your friend will dread her son going home and with you visiting her on Sunday she may be distracted and enjoy the company.

@Ergates, Jack loved the tea/coffee mornings - even though he never went  and he loved his cake. He was a little monkey though because I always said that some of it was for his daughter and he would 'fess up to me later that she rarely got any as the temptation was too great.

I'm so very sorry about Jack @Ladybird4 but pleased that he died peacefully at home. Good way to go.

              Just logging on after work…

That is very sad news @Ladybird4. You absolutely brought a cheer to his life and that is a wonderful thing. Be kind to yourself through the sadness of the loss you feel.

Take care everyone, sleep well and treasure the little things and special people.

Good morning everybody and a happy world environment day to you all.
It is hissing down outside and its hair do day - oddly enough it always seems to rain on most of the days I have my hair done. Enjoy your days whatever you get up to.

My condolences. I miss my daily chat with my sister very much so I am sure you will miss Jack greatly. Receiving news like that is always a shock.

I had a horrible day, couldn't think what was wrong with me. Then wondered if the new tablet was the cause. As I have a hairdresser's appointment, then a chiropodist appoinment today I have decided to put myself back on Asprin and try taking the new tablet again tomorrow to see if the same things happen, if so I will go back to the Dr. and ask for it to be changed. The Dr. did mutter something about the dose may need to be adjusted.
No humping sacks of sand, grit, and compost out of the car, onto a sack trolley and trundled down steps into the garden. Nausea, blurred vision, dizziness and propping my eyelids open with matchsticks put an end to that idea.
When I went out into the conservatory to close the doors for the night I saw huge black clouds piling up in the sky, frightening. They missed us thank goodness, plenty of heavy rain during the night, still raining on and off this morning.

Soft rain at the moment and forecast to last most of the day. The garden will appreciate it and hoping it tops up my water butts, hardly anything in the rain gauge at the moment.
Am finally feeling better and back to normal. We spent yesterday afternoon in Hodnet Hall Gardens, an enjoyable walk round and lunch in the cafe. They make delicious cakes so we brought a slice each home for our supper. For its medicinal qualities of course, according to OH.

Work and fasting today. OH has a list of small jobs to do. Tip run (bins are still on strike), a bit of shopping and delivering son-in-laws birthday card. Since a child I have always loved getting cards in the post so would always post any I was sending even if local. Not any more, stamps are so expensive.

My condolences to everyone mourning family and friends. Scattering forget-me-nots sounds like a lovely way to remember them all.

Good morning. Damp here after heavy showers ahead of schedule yesterday evening and again in the night. A good soaking is expected this pm so I need to go and check all my pots are OK before that starts.

Quiet day ahead. OH is off to Pornic for 2 days to get soaked in a golf competition, Possum is at school and both cats are fast asleep. I shall sew. Yoga this evening.

Thin day today for me too @Butterfly6 so I have a fresh pot of soup simmering. The ginger will help with the remains of my cold.

Hope you feel better today @Goldenlily26 and hugs to all feeling sad about loss or anything else.

Good morning everyone, rain overnight here too. I think we all have the same forecast. It always seems to rain here just after the window cleaner has been, he came Tuesday.
I was a Capel Manor yesterday, I hadn't been for a while and I know the others have not been able to go so regularly either. It's a shame how scruffy things get in such a short time . Rain is needed but as we all know it makes the weeds grow.
We got our lounge furniture back from the upholsterer yesterday, it wasn't cheap in fact we could have bought new for less but we couldn't find anything that we liked enough or would fit in the space we have. Why do the manufacturers keep making everything bigger and bigger, our house isn't particularly small ( typical 1930 suburbia) but modern houses and flats are much smaller. I don't know how people will manage in the future.

We had a good dollop of rain overnight, but it's just dripping now. More is forecast.
Unfortunately, hub left the washing on the line, so it's had an extra rinse!
We are contemplating a 2 night stay on the van this weekend. There's a plant sale and a vintage tractor run! I know, contain yourselves...
I'm drawing up a list of supplies, so a shopping trip will be on the cards. Yes, even more excitement...

Morning everybody, rain today for us as well.

So sorry to hear about Jack @Ladybird4, you will miss him very much.

What excitement @Penny_Forthem! You will enjoy getting away and just relaxing, I'm sure you are in need of some treats just now.

I'm also having another thin day today - absolutely determined to get to below 10 st before my Health review next month. 6 weeks to go! Feel rather tired today as I exhausted myself yesterday with a round robin of 8 errands. If I have to take the car, I try to fit in as many stops as possible. I do ache this morning although that might be the result of the very thorough massage I had yesterday. I have also woken up with a swollen eyelid so using a hot compress on that. Fortunately it's raining so no gardening today.

Hope the change in meds will work @Goldenlily26 and a rest will probably be good for you.

It's a shame Capel Manor doesn't look its best @Allotment but I'm sure they appreciate the hard work you volunteers do. Weeds grow so quickly don't they in this variable weather. It's a pity some of our cultivated plants don't do the same!

The rain has arrived ahead of schedule so I've been stuck indoors doing various admin jobs. Set to stay very wet now till the am so, once I've had my soup I'll be sewing till it's time to go to yoga. Set to be dry for the next few days so all good for prepping the new bed and starting some planting.

@Allotment Boy I've looked into recovering our sofas but it would cost more than we paid for them 25 years ago and rather a lot if I attempted it myself. It would take me ages too. Several times more costly than buying new but I don't like modern designs. For now we've invested in two very large throws which do the job for now.

@Penny_Forthem the new neighbours sound like fun. I hope plans for you weekend away run smoothly.

@lizzie27 any special reason for the swollen eyelid? Sounds uncomfortable.

@Obelix-Vendée , I agree we probably paid more to reupholster than originally, but we like the size and style, new ones weren't as well made. So we bit the bullet. The seat and back pads on the old ones had all but collapsed, someone did suggest we could just get new foam filling , but in the end we went for it, so far glad we did. We can't take it with us so we may as well spend some now and be comfortable. Hopefully this'll see us out.
