I just wander and do things tha t need doing, repotted a few sweet peppers watered all the pots with some getting fed.
I'm never, or very rarely one to plan things, it's always been a spur of the moment thing with me unless its something big, which is pretty rare these days.
I saw five swallows earlier, how many do you need to make a summer.:)

Sitting in the shade as it’s too hot inside. We need to wait another 4 hours before we can open the windows. 30 Celsius is too much.

I agree, too hot to do very much at all. It’s 29 here according to our local weather station (only a few miles away so a good guide. It certainly feels like that sort of temperature.

I have done a little watering with yesterday’s washing up water. Just waiting for the temperatures to cool before I water my tomatoes and herb pots this evening. All watering is done with watering cans here. We have a pump so we can use the hose from the waterbutts but we only tend to use that when we need to top up the pond

I've been trying out a different smaller (therefore less heavy) watering can, but because the spout is shorter, it involves more bending, so I am back to my trusty old one that has been going a couple of decades and only filling it halfway. Might see if spout extensions exist.

Could a bamboo cane be adapted to fit I wonder? Or a piece of hosepipe which would also be flexible, giving you novel options for water delivery .

Yes spout extensions do exist, some are used to adapt for different rose fittings. Try a good GC, or on line if no luck there.

I will channel my inner Heath Robertson and run some experiments! This is where all the "might come in handy one day" clutter in the garage is a bonus.

I am now waiting for the heat to pass, it is too hot to plant out baby veg.seedlings. They would get scorched. The runner beans in the conservatory have started winding their way up the roof window winder handle hanging down over them and the dwarf peas have flowers on them. The radish I sowed in a trough have started going to flower. The quince tree has lost half its leaves so I doubt if it will survive another year. The June drop has begun, lots of tiny apples dropping, the tree needed the fruit thinning so it is saving me a job.

Just deadheaded the scabiosa and cut off some of the foxgloves which I don’t need for seed collection. Also tidied the honeybee allium area since they are over.
It’s warm but currently no intensive sunshine which makes it less stressful. We can expect 29C.

I went out to erect the supports on my tomato planters. They are the Lidl planters with a water reservoir and then tiers of plastic rings as support. Trouble is, there are little triangular plastic pieces that clip into the sides of the pot and hold the rods which the rings then sit on. I hadn't thought to find and install those when I potted up the tomatoes, so I had to dig around the side of the pot to uncover the installation lugs. Luckily they were at just the soil level. Then I had to find the actual triangular things, and that involved turning everything out of my tool store and a small shelving unit. Got there in the end, with 3 in the tool store and 3 in the shelving. I must remember when I dismantle them again to put all the little plastic bits in a bag together.

I then sat in the shade by my little pond to watch the semaphore flies that had gathered there, and in doing so noticed that something kept popping up to take a gulp at the surface. Too fast to see clearly, but think it could only be a newt. The pond is a year old and that's the first evidence I've seen of anything other than insects in it.
