Sorry to hear about your friend @Busy-Lizzie and hope your feeling better today @Goldenlily26
We’ve had a quiet few days as I’ve haven’t been sleeping well and then yesterday it all caught up with me and I felt quite unwell. A good nights sleep last night so hopefully a system reset has put me back to normal. It happens every now and then :dunno:

Not sure what we are doing today. If I feel up to it, I want to renovate my cold frames. They are little free-standing wooden ones and the doors and lids are drooping and lop-sided in all directions plus the wood needs some tlc.

Still no meaningful rain here and nothing much in the forecast. Am researching water butts to see what the latest innovations offer. I haven’t looked for a few years. We haven’t room for larger water butts against the house where the down pipes and they are in quite prominent positions. I need something attractive and slimline and large enough to make it worthwhile.

A vintage roadshow sounds fun @Ladybird4

We seem to be opposite here, bad night for sleeping, not a breath of wind and very humid , no rain. It's cooler and breezy this morning, supposedly a 50:50 chance of rain around 10am. I really hope so .

I hope your items turn out to be priceless treasure Ladybird!
        We can all wish.
Many years ago I was given what I thought was a ladies evening belt. Wrong! Made of gold on silver gilt mesh with a pretty Art Deco belt. I showed it to my son when he was here to teach him about hallmarks. We discovered it is a military belt which I am going to research. I examined the belts worn by the military during the Trooping of the Colours and saw the clasp is a similar open/close mechanism. Fascinating.
It could be worth thousands. Or not!
It has hallmarks on each half of the buckle dating it to 1820 but there are additional scratched marks on the reverse of the buckle which I think refer to its miltary background. An interesting rabbit hole to go down.

Yesterday was a slightly more "up" day.
The electrician turned up on time, set up the replacement TV, gave me a quick demo, 1 button for On/Off, 1 button to change channels etc. Very basic.
At lunch time I had a call from the Dr.
Brownie points for stopping taking the new medication and reverting to Asprin.
He asked me to make an appointment for another ECG, followed by a "face to face" appoinment with a Dr for the results. Hopefully by then the Xray results will be back.
He also asked me to make an appointment with their physio. re my leg pain.
I have to wait 3 weeks for the ECG appointment, also the follow on Drs app.
The physio only goes in once a month so I have to wait until the end of July for that app.
Hang on in there deary. Don't die yet. We will get to you. Eventually.
Went to bed around midnight last night. Didn't wake up until 7.00am. Unbelievable! After dozing all day.
I wish everyone a livlier more exciting day today. It has just stopped raining here, more heat coming in after lunch.

Nasty little squall here. Thankfully, just come in from watering the greenhouse.
Who knows what wonders those shows throw up. I've been to a couple of the BBC ones, once with a colleague, whose treasure was actually filmed, but not finally included on the programme. As his wife didn't know about it, perhaps he'd not given them permission? They're now divorced!
How interesting re the belt and good luck doing the research, @Goldenlily26
We're off to meet a friend for lunch on the Wirral, dropping a dog at the groomer on the way. Then later this afternoon, we're going to the van for 3 nights. S'all go!

Morning all, we've just had a quick shower of rain - I knew we would because I got the hosepipe out and watered the back garden last night!
Sunny now so will just finish my coffee and hare down to the paper shop, hopefully without getting wet.
Glad your new TV is all set up @Goldenlily26. How frustrating to have to wait for all those appointments.
How exciting about the belt, I hope you can do more research to find out more about it.
I thought of you yesterday as I realized my Myrtle communis has just come into flower and looks lovely. Mine has slightly variegated leaves in green/cream but I can't remember the correct name for it. I'll try to take a photo for you if the weather plays ball later.
Right, I'd better get out whilst it's dry.

Good morning. I woke up late to find juice and coffee by my bed and t'other pair gone to work and golf respectively. Been lazy since, finishing my book and snuggling with two purry felines.

The beige and brown stray now comes every night around bedtime and waits for me to call and say I'm putting out some food. It now comes to just over a metre away to wait if I'm late. Slow progress then but maybe we'll be able to befriend it and vet it by the end of summer before it needs proper shelter or taking home if it has a chip.

Feeling wiped out after yesterday's heat and exertions so a quiet day making a large cake and all those sausage rolls for yoga and OH's golf lunch. It's going to stay cloudy and mid 20s so a bit more comfy today.

Glad you're feeling better @Goldenlily26 and that things are progressing, if slowly. Great research project to have and a new TV to watch in between. Can't get a radio signal downstairs in our house so I have a small TV on the wall in the kitchen so I can listen to stuff while I cook, usually gardening or wildlife programmes I've recorded.

The hosepipe trick isn't working here @lizzie27 tho they think there'll be a dribble on the 5th. My seephoses and sprinler are going to get a workout and it won't take long to empty the 6 waterbutts either.

Enjoy your show @Ladybird4. Have a good day all, whatever you're doing.

Morning all. Sounds very warm in France. Might be very warm here on weekend. Maybe a hot Wimbledon this year?? Just next week in work then off for a week so I can watch Wimbledon if rain or shine.

                Have a smashing day folks.

                  Good morning all.

We eventually arrived at the Show. Took about 2 hrs instead of the normal 35 minutes. First thing was to find the loo!

It was worth the wait when we got there. Our entrance arrived at the horse rings. We went to the main ring and managed to find two seats and watched show jumping, high jumps looked about 5ft.

We had lunch from a food truck and drinks from a beer tent. Then we looked at stalls, went to the garden area where there were plant stalls, display gardens done by local schools and a flower marquee. Then we saw racing piglets and border collies with little black sheep to round up.

We went to the army, navy and air force area and had a go on the Red Arrows flight simulator. That was fun but I was glad it was only a simulator! It was quite bumpy.

Then off to look at livestock, sheep, goats, small animals, pigs and cows before finishing up in the food hall where we bought a pasty each for dinner and a pork pie for lunch today.

We couldn't find our car which was quite a long walk away, so glad we met a man with a buggy. There were several buggies taking people round the car park which was a golf course so very big. We knew it was row 39 but they were only numbered at one end which was some way away. Eventually we found it! Got home rather late so I was glad I'd bought pasties.

This afternoon we are going to a friend's wife's funeral, which will be sad, I said that yesterday so thank you to those who offered sympathy.

Not sure where to post photos so I'll post some here. OH is the chap in the white T shirt looking at vegetables.

                    Good afternoon to you all.

Not so hot - 31°C and a strong north wind - dry and drying out!

Up and out with Fizz this morning as it was very overcast with black clouds and only 22°C. We got halfway around the circuit and I heard thunder. Three-quarters around and a flash of lightning - ooh - we're cutting this short and headed for home. Another flash of lightning and a clap of thunder. Just as we were at the entrance to our road, down came the rain. Needless to say it was welcome, but very quick. 20 minutes later, the sun was out. Luckily, she isn't gun-shy.

Gorgeous photos @Busy-Lizzie - I like the sunken wheelbarrow garden. I may use that idea as I have a wheelbarrow that was my husband's with a very tired rubber wheel - that may make a nice memorial garden idea for him.

Interesting story about the belt @Goldenlily26 Amazing story about the time you have to wait for an appointment - mind you, specialist and physio appointments here are about that time too - if you want a good one.

Have a pleasant remainder of the day.

Gorgeous lunch today, but at the next table and in my line of sight was a party of 4 Italian blokes eating with sheer gusto! Bruschetta shoved whole in the mouth and chewed while talking volulably. Spaghetti slurped while shouting louder. It was very entertaining. All the while, one eye on their phones. Thoroughly enjoyable!
Now at the van, not wanting very much to eat and enjoying the peace. It's not very warm!

                        Just for you @Goldenlily26.

For reference the fence is 4 ft high. The Myrtle is over ten years old, I think.

Good evening all. I had a fascinating time this morning. It was all very well organised and I got rid of (ahem sold) all my stuff and came away with £60 which I was delighted with. I would certainly do that again. I was absolutely mesmerised by the story of the military belt
@Goldenlily26 and hope you find the research interesting. Thank you for your most interesting description of your day at the show @Busy-Lizzie and for all those lovely pics. It brought back memories for me of the Cheshire show I went to last year with my brother. I am sure that you will find the funeral a bitter sweet affair. It is Jack's funeral next Thursday and I am not looking forward to it as I will feel very sad.
@Penny_Forthem there is something quite enjoyable about watching people loving their food.
JUst look at that gorgeous myrtle! Thank you @lizzie27. I might be making this up but I seem to remember that all royal brides have some myrtle in their wedding bouquets following the example of Queen Victoria. As I implied, don't quote me!
I am signing out for this evening so good night everyone and I'll see you tomorrow.

Just back from yoga class, AGM and pot luck meal. They like the mini sausage rolls made with boudin in the mix and they love the coconut chai cake. Recipes please.

And can I show the teacher how to make pavlova? She used to have it in a weekends only restaurant run by some Brits a few miles away, before Brexit, and says it's the best thing ever.

Comfy here now with temps in the mid 20s and a breeze but it's going to get scorchio this weekend.

Good morning all. Not looking very sparkly here yet - may rain soon but hey, the gardens will welcome more of the wet stuff. I am supposed to be playing Canasta today and will, as long as the rain holds off. Whatever is on your 'to do' list today, I hope you accomplish it.

Off to watch Gd’s class assembly this morning, should be entertaining. Not sure what we are doing afterwards. Probably making the most of the day as it’s due to get (too) hot over the weekend.

We had a little rain last night. I don’t think it was very much, haven’t checked the gauge yet, but every little helps. Think I have found some possible water butts. Just need to measure up and persuade OH

I used to love a pavlova but find meringue a bit too sweet nowadays

Hope everyone has a good weekend :spinning:
