We went out for lunch and met a couple, originally from Liverpool, but moved to Adelaide 50 years ago. They had returned to see the family where he was evacuated during the war.
Both 88, they come back here most summers. So interesting to talk to them both. Still got their scouse accents!
She told me she has 33 great grandchildren! They don't buy presents for them.
We are still very cool, dull and breezy.

I have felt awful all day. I did wonder if I might be dehydrated so have been drinking pints of water. Boring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I stayed in my PJ's all day I am ashamed to say. Windows open and curtains closed all day. No sun, very clammy. The mizzle eventually stopped around mid-day. I have been elevating my leg and icing my foot, no obvious improvement yet.
My family are together today, meeting up for a meal for my daughter's birthday. She sent me a pic. of the bouquet she has made ready for tomorrow. Very pretty, tied with ribbon. I am very disappointed not to be with them but it is just as well, I do not feel fit to travel etc. I do not underdstand why I feel so queasy, do not want to eat, just sleep.
Ergates I have to wait until July for my first physio. app. Have been debating making a private app. No idea how much they charge now, it used to be £45.00, probably double by now.

Not long before Wimbledon begins and it starts to rain again! At least I will have something to watch on TV if it stays dry. The qualifying matches are often much better than the finals.

Sorry you are feeling so awful @Goldenlily26.

@lizzie27 there are cameras in both houses and gardens and a burglar alarm that calls someone to come and check if it goes off in my French house. I like being able to see my French garden when I'm not there.

I watched ETTC, it was in Wiltshire in 2018, think I'd seen it before. Couple coming from Sweden, he was Swedish. I wouldn't have bought any of the houses. The best one was by a busy road. Two of them had very steep gardens, lots of steps. I like looking at the villages and the countryside.

We've been to the church tea party, had to sit in the sun. The car said it was 31C in the shade. The tea was very good, must have been a lot of work. Now I'm cooling down in our sitting room, the oldest part of this cottage so the coolest.

          Evening everyone.

Been to an Open Gardens in Usk today and saw this little poem that I thought many of us can relate too:

          IMG_5514.jpeg

We had a lovely day and a Dahlia came home with me (Verrone’s Obsidian).

I hope everyone is doing ok.

Good evening all. Been a funny sort of a day today and due to my lack of sleep I haven't done any heavy work outside. Did some weeding and dead heading and watering in the GH and my various pots. Watched some more Glasto. One of my friends sent me a picture of her youngest son, his girlfriend and her Mum there. They couldn't get tickets but volunteered to help giving out water and cleaning toilets. Not my idea of fun but they are enjoying the atmosphere, music and the entertainments.

That is a lovely poem @AuntyRach. Oddly enough I could feel myself relaxing as I read it. Lovely picture too. Thank you for sharing.

Despite being up and about since 6am I did not fade and have a snoozle. I have a 20p size blister on the palm of my hand after hoeing that bed. Need to improve technique or wear gloves. After that, watered the planting hole for the eucalyptus and retired indoors with the shutters down.

I now have an Excel file of the goodies planted in my new bed and have started another for my seeds list. I do seem to have an interesting seelection but getting them to germinate and grow is another matter. If they all do, I'll need another couple of beds!

Baked a cake for tomorrow's garden group meeting and made a potato salad with freshly dug potatoes then, after 7pm, OH helped me finish prepping the hole so I could plant my wee tree. It's looking bonny already so I hope it likes it and yes, it was pot bound.

Even hotter tomorrow so more watering done this evening. Our dogs were very happy to flollop on cool floor tiles in these conditions @Tui34. So are the cats. The beige visitor came for his dinner while we were having ours on the terrace. Didn't want to get close to all 3 of us but at least we've had a good look now and he's not a loved pussycat.

@lizzie27 some people pay good money for stone troughs. Is yours removable? If not definitely get someone younger and stronger to dismantle it.

@Penny_Forthem 33 great grandkids sounds positively incontinent.

Glad you had a good day @AuntyRach. Sorry you can't make it tomorrow @Goldenlily26 but pleased you got your planting done for you.

                      Have a good sleep everyone.

A very good morning everyone. It rained a lot in the night and everywhere looks refreshed this morning - bar me. Another restless night. Enough of that. Looking forward to my lunch out with my nephew and his family - I think the twins are back from University in Durham - looking forward to seeing them again.

We stayed up to see the much anticipated Neil Young last night. I have to admit that I was very disappointed, contrary (it seems), to the press.
OH enjoyed the music, though he loyally didn't comment on N Y's performance.
However, we both hit the hay before the end of his set.
Still cool and dull, but that's good for dog walking.
                          Speaking of which...

Afternoon all, a rather dull, very humid day so far, which also sums up my mood. Think I'm getting a bit lonely and missing OH's company perhaps.

The stone trough was built (very solidly!) in situ @Obelix-Vendée so has to be knocked down as we anticipate the whole terrace will have to be rebuilt. That also means all our lovely fossilized Indian sandstone also has to come up and relaid so very major job. I've never liked the look of the trough and nothing has survived well in it. It will give me more room to make a small and more private sitting out area with the more stylish horizontal slatted fence panels on three sides.
It's about 6 ft (2 m) up from the road level so we're quite exposed at the moment if we eat out on the terrace. That's the plan anyway.

Good afternoon everyone. We were at the Theatre yesterday eve, The Fifth step, a two hander with Martin Freeman and Jack Lowden in a new (to us) venue sho place almost opposite Tottenham Ct rd tube. Lovely and cool in there, I wish we could say the same about the Northern Line but at least it wasn't as hot as today and the next few days will be.
I got up early (for me) today and was at the Allotment watering by 7:30 it's the only way to get reasonable pressure and so get the job done in reasonable time. Not done much since I got back as the sun has broken through and the heat is building. we are going to Wimbledon on Thursday so that will be a que for the rain!
Wishing all those with aches and ailments a speedy resolution, stay as cool as you can everyone.

                                Afternoon all.

That was probably the worst thing about London-living - the baking hot tube in Summer! All those sweaty armpits above you as you sat - grim.

I’m just deciding whether to tip out my potatoes… might have a rummage and see…

Keep cool if you are in the heat wave folks.
