Morning everyone. A lot posts this morning so please consider yourselves all 'liked',

My daughter arrived late after a very tedious 3 hour non-stop motorway journey which included an unfortunate diversion right at the last junction. It was 34c by 6 pm. I had remembered that I had some butterflied sea bass fillets in the freezer so we had those for dinner with lemon/herb rice and diced mixed veg. Magnums for afters sitting outside in a cooler breeze by 8pm.

We went to bed early at just after 10pm when it was still 22c and I didn't think I would sleep well but I did, not so, sadly, my daughter who suffers insommia. Still, she's now enjoying a long soak in the bath (only has a shower at her place) and I'll drive her up to Tetbury for lunch later.
It's slightly cooler today which is a blessing and positively cold (15c) tomorrow forecast.

Have a good day and keep cool if you can.

You're right @Penny_Forthem , it is cool and dull here today. Think tomorrow could be sunnier though!

I have been out to pot up a rooted buddleia cutting and inspect my nursery, weeding a few pots and moving some around for less sunshine. Too hot to stay out any longer tho but only getting to 33C later - they say. Feels that hot already.

Tomorrow should be a few degrees cooler. Possum has taken the day off to go to the sales in La Roche which has a small shopping centre, all in one long, curved row with a covered gallery with airco. Nevertheless I'll want to get the bulk done before lunchtime as 30C expected later and I hate shopping centres at the best of times.

We had fish too @lizzie27. I needed spring onions for tonight so stopped at Grand Frais on my way home form patchwork and found those plus some bean shoots and big fat juicy prawns on offer so we had prawns for starters and salmon trout for mains. Yum.

Fresh Chinese spring rolls for dinner tonight - no effort apart from prepping some smacked chiu chow cucumber which is just marinading it in garlic, chilli, soy and rice vinegar for an hour or two. Delish.

There's a garden centre opposite and I'm on a mission to find hakonechloa to grow in shade under my Japanese maples. They didn't have any but I found 3 hemerocallis "Pandora's Box" that will be perfect for the purple and white zone in my new bed.

After a considered conversation with my daughter, I decided to try once again to see a Dr re the pain in my leg. He has referred me for Xrays on my knee and ankle as the first X ray showed my hip to be in good condition, so another wait for an app. Still struggling with severe pain.

It is overcast, very close and humid, small mercies as we have not had the suffocating heat wave everyone else has had.

Did a massive Tesco online shop last night to avoid having to drag around the aisles. Mainly cat food and cat litter. It is being delivered this evening, 10-00/11-00pm. In the past delivery men have phoned me to see if I can receive the delivery early, fingers crossed.

I have never been a tennis player, I hated it when at school. I have never been able to get my head around rushing around, chasing a small ball in blistering heat. Far better go on the beach and swim. I do stand in awe of the modern athletes and their conditioning, being able to play to such high standards, especially when I am a captive audience with not much else to watch.

Our water pressure is very low. I alerted Anglia Water and got a reply that they were mending a burst water main and it would be OK by 6pm, but it isn't. Oh well, forecast says rain tomorrow.

We went to Diss this morning and the bookshop kindly changed 2 books for me. I'd bought them for my grandson but he couldn't wait and had brought them online without telling me. Now I have new books for me.

We also went to the SM and brought food for my dinner party tomorrow.

This afternoon I've been sending myself photos from my phone of our holiday in Cornwall to download onto my laptop. Takes a while but doing it like that reduces them all to a smaller size which is what I wanted.

I'd love to go to Diss @Busy-Lizzie
Lunch was super. Lasagne and salads then HM cheesecake. Don't want supper.
It's been satisfyingly cool all day!
@Goldenlily26 hope you get to the bottom of the problem, so to speak.

Good evening all. What a horrible journey your daughter had @lizzie27. I bet she was pleased to finally arrive. I have never has any success with Hakenechloa in my garden @Obelix-Vendée which is a shame as it is probably the only grass I could tolerate. Sorry you are still having ongoing problems with pain in your leg @Goldenlily26. Fingers crossed they come up with a solution for you. Good news it isn't your hip though. @Busy-Lizzie my photos load automatically onto my laptop from my phone.

@Ladybird4 how do you load photos automatically onto a computer and reduce the size? I asked Google a while ago and it said send them as emails.

Good morning everybody. It looks very overcast here at the moment and it rained last night which will have helped the garden. I forgot to say that my tree man came the other day and he is coming on July 14th to remove the tree.He is going to grind out the stump and also he said he will saw up the branches so my nephew who I visited on Sunday can have them for his log burner. Its a pity I didn't have as much success with the company I had ordered 3 pelargoniums from at the beginning of last month. The package arrived yesterday, it contained 4 pelargoniums and only one of those was what I had ordered. I had specifically stated that I did not want any substitutions and received an email confirming that, so I am wondering whose order I've got and where mine is. I have emailed the company and I'll let you know what happens.
@Busy-Lizzie I have an App on my phone and a corresponding App on my laptop so pictures from the phone automatically migrate to the laptop - and vice versa without me having to do anything. Once the photos are on the laptop, I double click on a photo, it opens up and I can edit and resize it as I want.

Yes, but the charges seem to be around £50.00 per session which is a bit much for me. I did have some treatments just after Christmas for "a shoulder" which came through via NHS in about 3 weeks, this time the Dr. suggested I use their own physio so I just went with it. ( I was beginning to lose the will to live by then.)

Interestingly, the Dr. I saw yesterday asked me if I was taking the tablets or capsules of Co-Codamol, I said capsules so he has changed them to tablets and this morning is the first time for a month I have not been feeling sick. I have no idea of the difference between the two as the dosage is the same. He also gave me some Ibuprofen gel to apply to my knee and ankle which has eased the intense soreness, like bad sun burn, so I am feeling a much happier bunny this morning.

Morning all, glad you seem to be getting to the bottom of your troubles @Goldenlily26. I believe the capsules of most meds are quicker dissolving in the stomach than tablets so a slower release might sometimes be beneficial, but I could be wrong about that.

Shame about the wrong order @Ladybird4, what a nuisance. Strong complaints to the company
                            I think.

We had a very enjoyable day out in Tetbury yesterday, lots of old and interesting buildings in a small compact town centre which is noted for its antique shops and 'posh' charity shops. Bought a long floaty cotton dress for my daughter and a dainty small teapot for my sister for her next year's Macmillan coffee morning. I told her I'd keep an eye for those as they are hard to find these days by all accounts. We had a light lunch under a big umbrella sitting in the back courtyard of a cafe and were home by 3pm before it got really, really hot!

Shopping in Bath today. Got some faulty bras to return to M&S which is jolly annoying. Seems from the reviews that they had a bad batch. I expect we'll have lunch out again.

Morning all. A glorious day, with cloudless skies, a cool breeze and no rain in the forecast. A perfect drying day.
You should be able to self refer on the NHS, @Goldenlily26 though how long a wait you'd have is the thing. Ask your doc.
Interesting about the tea pots @lizzie27. We were having exactly the same conversation yesterday with friends. One was looking for milk jugs for coffee mornings. Along with gravy boats, they are disappearing from the dinner tables nowadays.
Annoying re your order @Ladybird4. Hope you get some redress.
Washing machine has beeped; I now have a date with the washing line!

                                Good afternoon to you all!

A smidge cooler this afternoon at 33°C but Fizz and I are inside relaxing although I imagine a nice afternoon for the beach.....

Beautiful bouquet @Ladybird4 Hope the order gets sorted out.

Glad the tablets are working to some extent @Goldenlily26 I imagine that the physio will need X-rays anyway before they can treat you properly. I wonder if you have ever considered taking CBD - the cannabis oil. I did for 6 weeks before my hip operation and it does relieve pain - only because it is anti-stress and relaxes the body. It is not a pain killer. I spoke with the anaesthetist and surgeon about this and I was advised to cease when I had the operation, for the simple reason that post-op medication counteracts the CBD, but neither were against it - taken properly and not with pain killers, anti-inflammatories etc. It's one or the other. My nephew who runs a plumbing business takes it regularly, otherwise he said, it would be carnage!!

Relaxing inside this afternoon - looking through recipes - I like the smacked cucumber idea @Obelix-Vendée as my cucumbers are starting to produce. I like to have dishes that I can pre-prepare and film before putting in the fridge. Lentil salad is on the menu this weekend with a bit of fish.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of the day. 66076EF6-F431-4D5E-AFA7-9099D5E741FD.jpeg
