I'd agree with @NigelJ - other plants are far more likely to cause problems than those poppies. Not watched the programme yet though. Maybe tomorrow.
Brian was shifting foxgloves on Thursday on Beechgrove. He had gloves on. I have to say I've never worn gloves to handle them - maybe I should!

Thanks for all your comments how to grow opium poppies. My question was more out of interest in legal matters.
Have never tried and will never try any of your suggestions and will die one day happily without regrets :)

I had my difficulties with Beechgrove this time.
I’m not a supporter of zoos and was quite upset seeing the poor rhino in a blank, limited in space area behind bars that got some leaves as special food. It’s like being in prison.
Overall that zoo made a poor impression.

Switched channels as AT program this morning was years old and in April. I suppose his fan club watched it.

For any fan club members out there, the new series of Love your Weekend starts in October I believe . In the meantime, here's a little something to keep you going.

I'm not a fan of zoos, but there are plenty of regulations in place regarding zoo animals nowadays. Easy to judge without knowing the whole story too.
I quite enjoyed G'sW when I eventually got round to watching it. The chap with the ferns was very heavily invested in his hobby! There's no reason why people can't grow ferns regardless of their site as many grow in hot dry areas. Fairly easy to create a small damper, more shaded, area for growing the ones that prefer that too. Don't think I'd want my whole garden to consist of them though - we have enough of them getting in by themselves. I enjoyed the visit Toby Buckland made too, and the lady with the 'seaside' garden.

I think I watched Love your Garden about twice before giving up @AnniD . Not for me.

Hi I'm not at home at the moment so can't check but the link Anni posted takes you to the online version. I had just recorded a GW and the other shows were bookmarked in the recorded list. You should be able to just search for them if they are still on there.

It might have been U&Eden (Virgin channel 176 ) but I honestly can't remember :rolleyespink:.
I had a look through my deleted recordings just in case, but I actually watched it "live" which is rare for me !

I saw them on Eden, [I have Sky] but I think it was only that series from 2006 that was being shown. I don't know if you can get it on the catch up thingy.

I watched the first episode of the 2006 series (forgot it used be 30 mins!) last night on the U hub.
It seemed much faster paced than it is nowadays, quite enjoyed it and look forward to watching the rest of that series.

I’d forgotten they used to be 30 minutes too. Although, I suspect if you just edited out the dog shots you’d easily lose 10-15 minutes

                    8pm tonight.

" Gardeners’ World comes from the world’s largest annual flower show, the spectacular RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival. Adam Frost, Rachel de Thame and Frances Tophill explore inspirational show gardens bursting with vibrant colour, bold ideas and seasonal planting – sharing expert advice and tips to try at home, whether in a back garden, on a balcony or just on a sunny windowsill.

A flower farmer prepares for her first ever flower show, showcasing her beautiful home-grown dahlias and seasonal cut flowers.

In a bid to save the hedgehog, a young designer unveils a pocket-sized wildlife haven designed to support one of the UK’s most endangered mammals, proving how even small, urban gardens can help wildlife thrive.

And a green-fingered couple share why their love of chillies and heat motivated them to move from a cold, north-facing greenhouse in Aberdeen to growing 100 varieties in sunny Devon."
