    Good morning

A bright but breezy start to the day here. As you say @Ladybird4, we really do need the rain now, but none is in the forecast for us today. Enjoy your lunch.

We have the hedge to trim at the front today, but will check first to make sure there are no nesting birds. I don’t think there are as it’s quite open in places so accessible for predators, but we’ll check anyway, as I do see birds flitting in and out occasionally.

Hope you get the valve fixed @Busy-Lizzie.

Aches have subsided today and no more night-time sitting on non-existent furniture :heehee:

Sorry you’re still in pain @Goldenlily26 but you shouldn’t feel guilty or beat yourself up for having quiet days, which I sense you might be doing? I had a long period of time off work years ago due to post-viral fatigue, it came on after two weeks of “real” flu. I remember at around week 3-4 my doctor saying to me that I needed to accept I was ill, and allow myself to do to what my body needed which was nothing. It wasn’t surrendering or giving in but allowing what little my body energy I had to be concentrated on recovery. I hope you have a better day today and some more relaxing dreams.

We are off to screwfix and Ikea today for wardrobe rails and shoe storage - what exciting lives we live here. Finishing off the re-organisation I started the other day. We have a large alcove in our bedroom which extends under the eaves that we use as our wardrobe with curtains as “doors”. We have had two wibbly wobbly cheap rails, bought when we moved in as a temporary solution. Nine years on, we are finally sorting it all out with proper storage. Partly helped as now I don’t have to have a formal working wardrobe I have fewer clothes which need to be hung up. Using the alcove felt like a second-choice solution when we moved in. Our previous place had a whole wall of beautiful built in wardrobes, with all sorts of shelves, shoe racks and half and full height hanging rails. Open walk-in wardrobes seem to be all the rage now, so I’m now considering myself as an early adopter

Glad the funeral went well @Ladybird4

OH has always fancied a sunbeam tiger @lizzie27 but I’m not sure he’d actually want to drive it very far as he also likes all the modern conveniences and gadgets.

We had lots of sunshine yesterday and the same forecast today but much more pleasant temperatures. Frustratingly, the rain is rapidly disappearing from the weekend forecast.

      What a saga @Liriodendron

Thanks Butterfly, you may well be right. I always feel I should be doing "something". I am always telling other people to listen to their bodies. I have lost my voice for the last week which I know is my system telling me to shut up and stop. It happened when I was teaching and again when my father died. Enough is enough. No sore throat or cold etc. Just silence or squeaks!

        I feel all exposed!
My neighbour has decided to have her front porch repaired. Her father arrived to do it yesterday. I found him gazing at the problem, wondering how to tackle it. A wooden post with a trellis, totally overgrown with a jasmine officianalis, on its way into our loft spaces, gutters etc. I have been cutting off 10 ft stems on their way into my front door for several years.
When I said the jasmine needed cutting back to expose the rotten wood etc. he thought it would kill the jasmine so I offered to replace it if it died. I am sure my money is safe. Jasmine is as tough as old boots down here in Cornwall, especially in sheltered corners.
After some time discussing it with his daughter he went for it and down came the jasmine and old timber.
Now there is nothing between my front door and my neighbour's conservatory. I have no idea if the trellis is going to be replaced.

My daughter called in and did some watering for me before going off to Norway on a diving holiday on wrecks. The water is supposed to be very cold, 2o, she has a vest she can switch on to keep her thawed out!
I topped up my pond in the evening, no idea what the livestock was but something was having a wiggle in the bubbles from the hose. Frogs probably.

Good morning everyone, just waded through the last 2 days posts. What a lot going on.
We were at Wimbledon yesterday, centre court, right at the very back but still a great view. Play wasn't due to start till 13:30, just as well as the District line was playing up with severe delays and points failure so we got there just in time. Only 3 matches on that court but still didn't finish till well after 9pm, then a long drag to get out. We ended taking a bus to Tooting Broadway, then back up the Northern line. Not sure if it was any faster in the long run but at least we could just sit tight and not have to change trains. It seems mean but glad neither of the men's matches were 5 sets or we would have been even later. Surprisingly tiring sitting watching other people run around hitting a ball.

Hello everyone. Hot again here - 30C for the next few days then hotter - and only a 2mm dribble forecast for Sunday. It'll probably evaporate before it hits the ground and won't be enough to lay any dust.

Had a disturbed night being kept awake by noisy baby long-eared owls then cats coming and going. Busy brain too, so a late and dozy start today pottering indoors and cuddling sleepy cats.

I couldn't sit and watch any sport for that long @Allotment Boy but glad you enjoyed it.

There are two walk-in wardrobes upstairs in this house @Butterfly6 - one for the main bedroom which is now Possum's and one for the other 3 former kids' bedrooms to share. That has been modified with extra shelving instead of a hanging rail for my fabric stash and each of the 2 guest rooms now has a small wardrobe I've upcycled from flea market purchases so 30€ each and some time, sandpaper and paint.

Enjoy your day everyone whatever you're doing. Let yourself rest @Goldenlily26. I hope your repairs and upgrades are resolved smoothly @Busy-Lizzie and @Liriodendron.

Hello all! OH is off to the UK later today, and I've been doing emergency alterations this morning on his "new to him" trousers (charity shop), which were too long. It's now raining, so no more gardening today, though we have at least finished all the grass cutting, a bit of a marathon after 3 weeks away. There are lots of weeds, but most of them are hard to see behind a lot of flowers.

I'm afraid the broadband saga continues. Rang "Openeir", who are responsible for the fibre delivery as far as our telephone pole, and finally spoke to someone who was prepared to tell me the truth, rather than more flannel. So when we were told to expect the "duct men" to come, first on Monday and then Wednesday, to dig up the road if it proved necessary in order to clear the blockage in the duct, we should have been told this was a provisional booking, and they'd come when they'd finished the previous jobs on their list... but at least we're on the list, so they'll be coming some time or other. Our current internet provider, who we'd dearly like to leave, since they are impossible to contact about the frequent dropouts in our service (or indeed anything else) are at least doing a bit better at the moment...

Looks like I haven’t posted since Monday! We have managed to do a lot of gardening, mainly weeding and pruning, and OH has cut the grass. Took yesterday off and spent most of it out walking, there was plenty of shade, and enough benches to sit and relax on.
Just in after a few hours out pulling up brambles. I find that so satisfying! British Grand Prix this weekend, so we won’t be going too far from a tv for the next three days! It’s rather scary how young the drivers are these days. I might get round to my neglected sewing projects, while OH is glued to the box and biting his fingernails.
Hope all the aches, pains and bruises settle down.

Good evening all. I had a super lunch today with my Quizzy friends. Oddly enough we had some briefest of brief showers whilst going to the venue. It was lovely to see everyone. One of the ladies had gone straight to the pub from a physio session at the renowned Wrightington Hospital, noted for being the place where Sir John Charnley carried out the very first hip replacement operation. (Dead handy for me if I ever have to have any joints done as its just round the corner!) She has recently had a knee replacement there. She had been on a bike and by the end of lunch she was looking a bit tired. We managed to get home before the rugrats came out of school.
I hope your boiler is now fixed @Busy-Lizzie so that you don't have to use the expensive immersion heater. I was so glad when I got rid of mine in favour of a combi boiler.

                              Good morning all.

We had a bit of rain too, but not enough. Quite windy.

It's the monthly church coffee morning today in our old village. There will be a gardeners' question time. Not having brekkies as there will be nice things to eat.

We had a little rain last night too, now have fingers crossed for some more tonight which has suddenly reappeared in the forecast.

Pottering day today, final few little jobs to finish off the new storage in the bedroom. Really pleased with how it’s looking and more importantly works better than previously. I also want to rummage through our paint tin stash in the shed and see what if we have any white paint. The bedroom windowsill and skirting are black, think 1980s olde worlds refurbishment, to match the (genuine) beams. Have finally persuaded OH that will look better in white.

Hope everyone has a good weekend x
