    Dry but dull here today.
Hub went for his much needed doc's appt yesterday and as he went to reception, he had a text to say it was cancelled. No reason given. The earliest appt they could offer is the end of the month, unless he can get an emergency one. I think we'll escalate to PALS. They are without doubt the worst surgery, but as he says, changing now would be like changing a horse mid race. Glad I left them years ago.
We're off to Ruthin later to see if they still have any half price pots left.
I'm growing mustard and cress. I can almost see it grow!

I haven’t had cress for years. I now have a need for an egg and cress sandwich

We also had rain in the night and it is raining now, I can hear the plants slurping it up. Breezy as well.

It was raining in Bergen when my daughter arrived yesterday. They are off to the dive boat today, rain will not affect them but hopefully the wind doesn't get up because that might stop them diving.

          Morning all.

Bank from SM and watching two juvenile woodpeckers on the lawn.

It’s dull but ok out but today is the day… I must put the vacuum round. I know! but the bedroom carpet looks like a cat sanctuary floor as the boys have little scraps there in the morning and there’s hair everywhere! Coffee first.

Have a lovely Saturday all. Anyone joining me for some tennis later? Raducanu match was awesome last night!

            Good morning to you all!!

Another stinker of a day - whew!! I am getting frustrated at the jobs piling up - especially the weeding.

Here's wishing you all a pleasant Saturday. Robin is my middle name!!

OH's newfound knowledge about flowers is quite worrying.
He was telling someone yesterday about the lovely Gazaleas I grow!

                Good afternoon all,

That’s good news about the boiler @Busy-Lizzie .

No gardening today, we did a lot yesterday and I really needed to concentrate on indoors, so have tackled upstairs and done some washing. Tomorrow it will be downstairs that gets fettled.

No rain through the night here but we are supposed to have some tomorrow. We really do need some rain as the plants are struggling a bit and the grass is like straw. I’m trying not to water too often, but if we don’t get rain today then I’ll have to.

We are thinking of having the patio re-done and are busy looking at various paving slabs. There is a supplier quite near to us but before we order I need to try to find someone reliable who will do the patio for us as OH can’t do that kind of hard physical work anymore. The mind is willing, the body less so. The trouble is we still think we’re in our 30’s mentally but the reality is several decades more :biggrin:. I’ll ask around friends and neighbours to see if they’ve got any recommendations.

@Penny_Forthem OH plays golf with a friend who was a caterer before he retired. Didier grows his own fruit and veg and still does charcuterie at home.

A few years ago after a round of golf, OH was suddenly a walking encyclopedia on growing tomatoes. Another time it was globe artichokes which need no help at all here.

Just recently he wants to mulch everything - except the soil is bone dry in the established beds and they need a good weeding and sorting first anyway after a couple of years neglect due to needing new knees. I went out for a day a few weeks ago and he's only put a circular band round the base of a buddleia that gets droopy in hot weather.

He did tell me he'd given it a bucket of water first but he's also put the chipped bark 4" deep right up to the trunk! More work for me.

Good afternoon, dull and very dry here, a very few spots mid morning. I'm so glad I watered last night the plants are desperate. I note they had rain at Wimbledon late morning, so I guess it passed us by. We had the garden men in this morning, I've decided to get a bit more help with some of the heavy jobs and bigger pruning jobs so we can concentrate on the finer bits.

Afternoon all. Been doing some HW this morning, because yesterday's rain was continuing, and a month's worth of dust and bits were depressing to look at! But now it's dry enough to dead-head some lupins and geraniums, so I'll escape to the garden for an hour or two.

I had to laugh this morning. At 10am I got an SMS from Openeir, the fibre broadband people, confirming my appointment for installation of our broadband on Wednesday 2nd July (ie 3 days ago)...

Struck lucky at the GC and got the last 2 smallish blue pots @£7.99 each and a large one @£12.99.
                        Plus a Canna @£7.
2 packets of micro greens completed my purchases.

Good afternoon all. I have had a very productive day in the garden today. I managed to cut back a large montana clematis, a camellia, a Japanese acer and a hazel. Its amazing how much more light comes into my living room and the bathroom (which is on the ground floor) now. Both my green bins are now full. I got some really happy news today - I am going to be a Great Aunt again. January 1st is when this tiny person should appear. This will be my 9th time of being a Great Aunt. Knitting needles are at the ready! Niece has approved.
I think that Robin is a lovely name @Tui34. Here, @Penny_Forthem, we don't want any of those genetically modified plants introduced! @Liriodendron, words fail me but it does reassure me that I am not the only one! @Obelix-Vendée you have to give your OH points for trying though.
@AuntyRach, budge up and we can watch Wimbledon together.

Evening everybody, sorry, haven't posted as haven't done much these last 2 days so nothing to report. Didn't have a good night so snoozed all morning to make up for it.

We have had rain though, nearly all day. I'm so glad as the garden really needed it and could do with some more.

Will you ever get your broadband fixed I wonder @Liriodendron? What a shambles.

Hurrah! Been trying on evening dresses for an evening event next week - I can get back into my favourite, a slinky bias cut fuchsia pink satin number with jewelled straps. Wondering whether I can still walk in my silver high heels though. Think I'll chance it, I can always hang onto OH!

That's such a worry @Penny_Forthem, hope you can get OH's appointment fixed soon.

After a 14 month wait, I at last get my new hearing aids on Monday which I'm not sure I'm looking forward to much. Last time, the audiologist tuned them on her computer and they were much too loud for me so I had to insist she turned the volume down. I like a quiet life.

I’ve done so little today. After our marathon effort yesterday, I had planned to do stuff in the house and watch the promised rain falling. No rain, and nothing productive done indoors either. Shocking. I did get OH to cut my hair, sometime between rugby and the F1, so at least that is one job done. We had pizza for lunch, a rare event for us, but it meant I had to put the oven on, so I made a batch of rock cakes.
Nearly ready to collapse for the evening, so I’ll find a book to read. A real book, which will mean rereading an old favourite. It’s great having access to the library on my iPad but looking at the screen can get tiring after a while. Feeling ashamed at being so slothful.
How lovely to be able to get into your posh frock, @lizzie27. Be very wary of the heels though. I’ve discovered that even a moderate heel is beyond my capabilities, and my back, these days. Try them out round the house to get back in practice! I do remember going to see a ballet at the Arnolfini in Bristol many years ago, feeling very elegant in a pair of stiletto heeled sandals ( red and gold leaves design) with ankle straps. I’d forgotten about the cobblestones all around the area, and had to be supported by OH to and from the car.
