Just waiting for our pizza to cook @Ergates.

I think you will look gorgeous, @lizzie27. Don't think I could wear a slinky satin number nowadays. Tummy sticks out!

Well done @lizzie27. How satisfying for you. I see older ladies at dancing with 4" heels? No idea how their feet cope. Since my feet ops in 2013 ( 3 metatarsals shortened and bunions straightened so 5 screws in each foot) I can't wear more than a 1" heel. Much happier bare foot or in flip flops.

Nothing wrong with a floppy, unproductive day @Ergates. Sometimes it's just what you need.

I have been fairly idle too apart from going to visit the chooks and dig up some potatoes. They helped by sitting on the business end of the fork to inspect for critters I might be disturbing. Then I sorted out some fabrics and selected potential patterns before cataloguing my annual and biennial seeds. Some are very old but unopened so I'll be doing a GW Sue to see if any pop.

Potatoes now boiling away, salmon ready to cook in garlic and tarragon butter and broccoli ready to steam. It finally turned cooler a couple of hours ago so a hot meal should be OK.

      have a lovely evening all.

@lizzie27 you'll look stunning. I could probably get into my evening frock, but it's black velvet and not summer wear. No high heels here either.

Good morning everyone. Oh my but you do sound a glamorous lot. I haven't worn a dress in over 8 years and have no intentions of ever wearing one again. As for heels - no chance. I'm with @Obelix-Vendée there in my footwear preferences though I live in trainers 99% of the time. Your meal sounds very delicious @Obelix-Vendée. Lovely rain again here this morning - saving me a bit of a job. My garden out at the front looks so different after all my work yesterday and yes, I can see a wee snail sliming up the window!

            Good morning all.

Dry but cloudy here. Thunderstorms are forecast for this afternoon. We were planning on going to a village fair. Last year it was cancelled because of thunderstorms.

When the weather is warm I wear a summer dress with sandals or trainers, barefoot in the house. I have a long navy A line evening dress with sequins on it but don't wear it much as we don't go to evening dress events very often. Jeans and tops or jumpers are what I wear otherwise. Can't wear high heels anymore.

Morning all. Up early for a Sunday as work ‘ding’ to say someone off sick so I had to put a few messages out. After a cuppa and waiting to hear back, I didn’t bother trying to nod back off.

It’s bird central out there this morning! Magpies being mean to the blackbirds, (who are loving the cherries on the cherry plum). The sky looks like it might rain, but only a possible dribble is forecast so not hopeful.

I can’t wear heels (never could really) and my feet now demand comfy shoes at all times.

              Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Good morning. Feeling weary here. I might just need a second coffee today. Woken at 2:30 by a chatty Minstrel. Woken again at 5am "Mum, I have a mousey". Then again at 6:30 by a playful Cosmos. OH blissfully unaware of all this but up and out for golf without disturbing me so some Brownie points.

We have wet stuff. Not heavy and not for long but 1.8mm so far. Might be enough to refresh the leaves but not soak into the soil. Scorchio for the rest of the week but today is a happy 24C.

I wear a lot of frocks, usually cotton or linen in summer cos I don't like waistbands when it's hot so no jeans, trousers or skirts and loose, old shorts for gardening. I have some wool challis frocks for a change when I don't feel like trousers or jeans in winter.

I hope your weather holds for whatever you need - rain for gardens, no rain for outings.

Long time lurker here although I do post occasionally. Just wanted to tell you all that when my daughter got married last November I insisted on wearing shoes with a smallish heel. Spent most of the day barefoot!

Hello @katecat58, you were much more sensible than me. When my daughter got married I foolishly wore high heels. First time in a long time. I spent half the day in pain and then the rest of the day blissfully barefoot. My expensive high heels went to the charity shop the next day

Morning all. Just back from church, got a lift in a 20-year-old van with my nursery-owning friend, because OH is in the UK with our car.

No high heels here. I have odd shaped feet - didn't even wear heels when I was young, though I could have done with a bit of extra height... At least I now don't care what other people might think about the way I dress. Comfy is the name of the game! Jeans or trousers, long sleeved tops to keep off the sun (skin cancer in the family), no visible legs (!). One of the choirs I sing with has long dresses for its uniform, but that's the only time I wear a dress or skirt.

Bit of drizzle this morning, but it appears to have stopped... gardening beckons this afternoon!

It lashed it down last night. When you're in a caravan, you notice these things! About an inch worth.
Hope it rained at home, 9 miles away.
                            Will find out later!
There is no rubbish collection or recycling at the site, so we have to take it home with us - or call at the tip on the way home. There, the staff inspect the contents of all non recyclable bags, in case you've included plastics or paper etc. What a thankless task, inspecting other people's rubbish.

Thanks for all the encouragement! Much needed as we haven't been to a black tie event since before Covid and I love dressing up. It's a 70th Anniversary Gala Dinner so fortunately I won't need to stand in high heels for long. I remember those cobbles around the Arnolfini in Bristol @Ergates, absolutely lethal. Your shoes sound terrific.

Drizzly today amid lower temps so I've just put socks on. We've had our usual walk and the F1 is shortly to start so I'll retreat to the spare bedroom aka the ironing room and do a stint there, then possibly a bit of weeding if it dries up.

A pottering day here today. Just harvested some of the potatoes. 1.6kg from the first 3 plants which might not be much but I’m pleased with as the only earthing up they had was some soil from an old pot ( so more a mulch than an “earthing”) and I haven’t watered them either. We don’t eat a huge amount of potatoes but looking forward to some later with lamb chops. The ground has also broken up nicely as it was very compacted from been a gravelled seating area previously.

Not sure what else I have being doing so goodness knows where the morning went. I did spend an age podding some broad beans. They came with our veg box and were a bit too big, I like them small and fresh when they are delicious, bigger not so much. Anyway, Idecided to roast some as a savoury snack. Very tasty.

The rain came back so we have now had around 15mm so very pleased.

I think I might get some (home) admin done this afternoon. Am just in the mood to sort out paperwork, a fleeting mood which I must make the most of whilst it’s here!

Hope everyone has a relaxing, productive and recuperative Sunday, whichever best suits your needs x
