    Morning everyone.

I’m pottering outside watching dragonflies, bees and butterflies. Glorious.

    Have a chill day @Busy-Lizzie - I am too.

The chargrilled aubergines sounds delicious @Tui34.

Upholstery project sounds interesting @Butterfly6. I need to do my kitchen chairs again, but the cats like to sit (and scratch) them.

Enjoy hair cuts @Ladybird4 and @lizzie27 - don’t fancy the blow-drier on a hot day mind!

Have a good day everyone looking in. Take care those with ailments or who find the heat hard going. Remember - HW has a special pass in a heatwave.

Morning - I'm taking a bye in the HW stakes today @AuntyRach
We had discussed going to the van for the weekend, given it might be cooler up there, but we've been invited to a BBQ in the village, so will stay home. We have to take stuff that we want on the barbie and I shall take a tabbouleh, as we have ridiculous amounts of parsley and mint.
I'm sure a hosepipe ban will be on the cards here soon, so today will be spent filling the butts.
      Keep cool today, everyone.

Blisteringly hot here. I managed to water the veg. and greenhouse yesterday, then did the patio containers(sounds really grand but not) this morning, sitting on a chair. Also topped up the pond again. Now indoors, all windows open, all curtains closed. No wind. Very hot.
Ate my first mini munch cucmber with my lunch today. I also struggled to lug the rubbish and recycling up around the back of the house for collection tomorrow.

My daughter and son in law are having a wonderful holiday in Norway. Crystal clear seas, glorious weather and lots of good food.

After a couple of fraught days I have finally sorted out my appointments. The hospital car driver is happpy to take me to the local hospital for my Xrays, then go on to the chiropodist after. It will mean waiting around a bit between them but all done on one day. I hope I am not put on a 2 year waiting list for surgery to sort my knee out.
Lizzie, I am not allowed to take Ibuprofen with the medication I take for my underlying heart condition.

I hope everyone is staying safe in the heat.

Evening all, your morning sounds good @Tui, @AuntyRach and @Ladybird4.

Glad you have managed to sort out your appointments @Goldenlily26.

I bussed into town this morning to have my hair done ready for the Gala dinner tomorrow night.
I also bought stuff in M & S including new cooler shorts for OH, who's going to have another long, very hot day's driving tomorrow. Tried on four lovely cotton dresses, none of which fitted well and decided a 'ditsy milkmaid' look wasn't really me!!! Need to be a tall, thin youngster for that look. So it's back to my old favourite, a dusky blue linen number with short sleeves - and pockets!

It's a real scorcher here, 33.1c at the moment and I haven't the energy to do much. Will water the garden later if and when it cools down. Just a plain ham salad for dinner tonight.

@lizzie27 I always wonder why so few dresses have pockets? Where are you supposed to put your hankie and the shopping list?

I've made smoked haddock fish cakes for dinner tonight. Took longer than I expected.

I've actually watched 2 tennis matches today, ladies semi finals. I enjoyed the first one apart from all the shouting and grunting from the player who lost, who I think is the No. 1 seed. The second one wasn't very exciting. I rarely watch tennis.

Good evening everyone. Happy with my hair. Had a great catch up with Bestie who was actually quite fraught. She has been having her porch demolished and replaced and the workman is taking way too long to get everything done which is beginning to get on her nerves. I don't think he will be too much longer though. She and her daughter (my hairdresser) are going to see the show Kinky Boots tonight in Liverpool with Johannes Radebe of Strictly Come Dancing renown playing the part of Lola.
@Goldenlily26 I expect that diving these days is very pleasurable, helping to counteract the heat. Pleased to read you have got the appointments sorted out. @Busy-Lizzie, I agree about the tennis. I cannot abide all the grunting and screaming adopted by some players. The number 1 seed Sabalenko was dreadful today so I was quite happy when she was beaten.

Been a scorcher here too, but now cool enough to sit out.
I haven't had to drive anywhere today!!
After an in depth debate, we have decided to adopt a rescue spaniel. We may not be successful, but we have room in our house and hearts for a 'mature' pack member.

                    Evening.

How exciting @Penny_Forthem - the spaniel would have a wonderful life with you.

Agree about the tennis @Busy-Lizzie and @Ladybird4 - the first match was fantastic but the grunting is too much!

Need to be a tall, thin youngster for must clothes imo @lizzie27!

Don’t go doing too much @Goldenlily26, and everyone else for that matter - the heat zaps energy doesn’t it.

I hope everyone will be a bit cooler this evening. Full Moon tonight - Buck Moon.

Goldenlily, have you tried asking your council for assistance with your bins? My council come in and fetch them out to the lorry just have to make sure that rubbish is put in them on the right days!

Hello there everyone. Another super start to the day. @Loraine3 the council here do that too as they looked after my former, elderly next door neighbour's bins on emptying day. It is looking perfect for Canasta today. Baking cakes for our Church Strawberry Fair on Sunday is also on the 'to do' list. Enjoy your Fridays everyone.

@Penny_Forthem how very exciting for you. I look forward to hearing how the adoption goes with lots of pictures and name etc. Springers are lovely dogs. Ours, Marco, was all muscle and an inexhaustible waggy tail. :)

                              Good morning you all!!

It was almost cold this morning at 16°C and breeze on the bike, but what lovely running weather for Fizz. No wind and the sun just coming up.

Lovely idea @Penny_Forthem When I got Fizz, I already had Jessie, a 14-year old Border Collie and was a bit concerned about her reaction. But she came with me to check out the farm and she seemed oblivious in the beginning - but the sassy Fizz said, I prefer your bed to mine, and Jessie let her sleep in her bed.....but not with her. And so it went on, and Jessie was a good step mum to Fizz.

The marinated aubergines are a good standby to have in the fridge @AuntyRach I can send you the recipe I used - there are many on the internet. I used the basic Mediterranean one.

Ah @Busy-Lizzie These full moons are the bane of your life!! It is an expression that I often hear, here in France.

We are having a nice summer normal week this week, with low temperatures at night and around 28°C in the afternoons. Perfect for everyone. We shall be hotting up next week. I hope you are all drinking plenty of water.

The Garden Centre went up in smoke. Here is a photo: It is part of a franchise so I imagine they will clean up and get more plants delivered. Would break your heart, wouldn't it?
