Good morning all. @AuntyRach I hope that all goes smoothly at work today. Just enjoying my first cuppa of the day - thinking of all I should do today and slowly dismissing most of the things.

Whatever you have on your 'to do' lists, unless vital, park them until next week.

No Xray results yet, will have to wait until Mon. Feeling slightly better today.
I managed to water the conservatory yesterday, I could hear the plants slurping up the water, will try to do the greenhouse today. No more rain, humid and warm. Unpleasant.
I am waiting for a new clock radio to be delivered today.
It will be heaving everywhere for the next few weeks as the world, his wife and families descend on us.
My neighbour's new porch is looking very smart, her Dad has been working on it again now it has cooled down. He is doing such a good job. I am hoping my spare bedroom and kitchen walls will dry out now he has cleared the down pipe and guttering. Rain water was just running down the outside house wall. The hot weather should help with the drying out.
GFood luck to everyone under the monsoon path. Stay safe.

          Rain here too.
I'm going to run hub to bushcraft then go home to water the greenhouse.
Pick him up at 1, then back to the van.
If it's dry, I'll try and take pics of butterflies.
          Somehow, I think not.

              Good morning all,
Well at long last we have some rain. It’s not heavy yet, but steady. I hope it lasts the day, really, because the ground is hard as rocks and the grass like straw.

                Good morning all.

I think it rained quite a lot in the night. Every time I woke up I heard it and the phlox flowers look very battered.

HW and tidy up today before going to my sister's in East Sussex tomorrow. Ferry to France on Tuesday.

I don’t seem to have done nothing today and it’s already lunchtime, I’m completely puzzled about where the morning went. I must be dazed from the sound and sight of rain.

Planning a sort out in the office tree study tree spare room this afternoon. It’s one of those rooms which is quite well organised but every so often, gradually, descends into chaos. Time for a declutter and I need to attack a few spiders webs. Floor to ceiling shelves and beams are features I’ve always hankered after. Having inherited both, I realise the wonderful habitat they are for spiders. Whenever I see people waxing lyrical about barn conversions with soaring ceilings and multiples beams all I can mutter is cobwebs, cobwebs…At least I can reach mine, although maybe I wouldn’t be able too see them if I also had soaring ceilings…

Woken at 4:30 by Cosmos wanting attention and then breakfast. Then OH started snoring so I snoozed, fitfully till we finally got up. Off to a local village for a vide grenier/car boot but the only thing I saw of interest was some very rusty old irons which could be used as doorstops. Too rusty tho. Possum found the crêpe stall which was also selling sausage and chips. Too early for me.

Then we decided to toddle off to La Tranche-sur-Mer as it's change over day so wouldn't be too crowded. Still heaving tho and the market was on. Possum found sunglasses, 2 necklaces and a bracelet in what we call Tat street - lots of beach/holiday wear and toys with one or two smarter shops. Thirsty by then but it was lunchtime so nowhere to get just a drink. Ended up with some really good ice cream cones. Thence to the fruit, veg and food market where I found a large, deep purple delphinium and an alstroemeria with dark foliage and flowers for 8€ each. They had a good selection of basils too but we only had one bag so will just have to back next week cos there was also a pork butcher with joints with skin still on!! Crackling.

Home now and contemplating poached egg on toast for a late lunch.

Cloudy and high 20s with a breeze so comfy. 3cms of rain expected tomorrow and Monday and then I can do some proper weeding and planting.

Have a good time everyone, whether working, cleaning or playing. I hope we all get enough wet stuff to keep us and our gardens going strong.

Good afternoon all. We've just eaten our runner bean for lunch - just the one, hopefully there will be more to follow. (Lunch consisted of more than just the runner bean, I'm happy to say...)

We've made a last-minute decision to spend the first week in August, which is the week which includes our golden wedding, at our Scottish cottage; we had a late cancellation. Can't think of a better place to celebrate the day!

It's so good to read about your rain. Hope you all get enough to make a difference!

It's mild here, and most days have had a bit of rain and a bit of dry - so the weeds are growing really fast. We had a work party yesterday afternoon at church, weeding the paths and graves, to keep it tidy. A bit of a thankless task, but a good opportunity for chat while we worked. Weeds in abundance in the garden, too, but I need to go shopping first.

Have a good weekend, whatever you're up to!

Good aftenoon all. Another lovely rainy day here but none of the forecast thunderstorms. I was devastated to find that my sunflower, gift from NDN, has been completely decapitated by something. Does anyone know if pesky pigeons could be the prime suspects? All my mini dahlias have been killed by being reduced to stalks and I do think that slugs are the culprits here. Its a bit disheartening so maybe Nature is telling me to avoid growing these next year.
I had a few more butterflies today @Penny_Forthem and will make my 15 minute observation tomorrow. Meeting up with a group of friends at the nearest GC after Church tomorrow and you can't just go for tea and cakes when there is a plethora of stunning plants to look at. I suddenly decided that Sweet Williams might be plants to try. They were my Dad's favourite flower too. I'm sure that there will be more to tempt me.

I survived work! Just waiting for the oven to beep with Chinese chicken for supper. I don’t usually eat this late but I was fancying Chinese food all day!

Possible thundery showers tonight and for the next couple of days.

I hope everyone is ok and the weekend brings a treat, some good news, a smile or something positive to all.

I managed to get down to the greenhouse and watered the tomatoes which are all doing well. It looks as if I will have a few fruit to eat. I took a chance and didn't water outside in view of the forecast incoming rain. It began to mizzle just as I finished. We have had a lot of steady rain all afternoon and evening, thank goodness. No thunder or lightning.
I love the idea of sharing a single runner bean for dinner. It will always be the most delicious of the crop. My beans have finally reached the top of the canes and begun showing flowers so I may have some to pick this year.
I got as far as throwing onto the patio the recycling bags and black sacks. I couldn't face lugging them up the steps to the collection point, I will tackle that project another day. It looks like Steptoes yard at the minute. I managed to knock over a tray of young plants. I was so disgusted I walked away from the chaos, apart from replacing the plants in their pots I will have to clear up the mess on the conservatory floor today.

My new radio/alarm clock arrived but I haven't set it up yet.

I watched the Athletics most of the afternoon. How lovely to see the Mens Relay Team be awarded their Gold Medals in a proper ceremony, owing from 30 years ago. At last.
