Good evening all. First of all I must say how pleased I was to hear that all is fairly good at yours @Busy-Lizzie's. I'm sure that the droopy plants will soon be revived. Do they have something similar to hosepipe bans in France? It sounds as though you are going to be very busy over the next few days. Nothing new there then!
Great to hear that you and your Hub had a decent night's sleep last night @Penny_Forthem and that you managed to get the roof vent on the van closed.
@Goldenlily26, I positively shivered when I read of your daughter skinny dipping in a glacier lake! Very brave! @Obelix-Vendée, what a delightful surprise for you finding Spikey in your garden. Like @lizzie27 I haven't seen hedgehogs in my garden for years.
It was very quiet at the Food Bank this morning and Bestie and I have talked about taking our knitting in next time. We sorted out 4 singles, 1 couple and 1 small family - including the pets! The sun came out so I did a washing load when I got home and I've just finished bringing them all in. I hope it is nice tomorrow as it is a Canasta day.
Signing out now so I'll say goodnight to you all. See you in the morning.
    Good night Snoopy.jpg

A very good morning one and all. It looks as though it is going to be a lovely day today so whatever you have planned I trust you achieve your targets. Looking forward to Canasta today and having a catch up with all the other players.

        Good morning all.

In France, @Ladybird4 , it is more common to have time limits for watering, like you can water between 8pm and 8 am. I am lucky here as there is a big river nearby with small rivers and underground rivers that flow into it so we rarely have restrictions.

Storms were forecast last night so the grandchildren didn't camp. Daughters and smallest grandson are in the two guest bedrooms and 5 grandchildren, aged 14 to 19 are asleep in the sitting room on 2 sofas, 2 blow up mattresses and 1 foam mattress.

It rained last night, but no storm, so we had pizzas in the dining room. We opened up the dining table to it's full length, just squeezed in between the piano and OH's desk. I hope it's fine today as my best friend here asked if she and her daughter, who lives in Australia, could come, so I asked them to lunch. I don't see much of her now that I've moved house. There is room for us all on the terrace. I have 2 chickens to roast and 12 herb sausages, broccoli, potatoes and I'll make a cauliflower cheese.

          Good morning all!

It was a gorgeous day yesterday, warm and sunny with a very light breeze. The garden was full of butterflies - more than I remember seeing for many years, on the buddleja, verbena, teasels, scabious - even on the washing! Lovely.

You're very organised, Liz. Hope your lunch goes well!

I'm not holding my breath again, but we have an appointment for 3 men to come and dig, to clear the blockage in the ducting for the fibre optic cables, next Wednesday morning...

Morning from a gloriously sunny Wales.
I put the ball in his court last night - stay home, or go to van. He's opted for the latter, so I've got my skates on! I've not much to do, tbh., as we shopped and restocked the fridge there yesterday.
It's just veg from the garden, fruit, cheeses, bread and butter etc. Plus a few clothes.
            Oh, and the dogs!
You sound extremely well organised @Busy-Lizzie. Bet the grandchildren had fun at their sleep over.
            Enjoy your canasta today @Ladybird4
In fact, I hope you all have a grand day.

Good morning everyone, we've been away overnight in Nottingham as we went up for Granddaughter's graduation ceremony on Wednesday got back yesterday afternoon. Our dear old Toyota came into it's own again, as we not only brought two passengers and luggage but a lot of GD'S stuff from her flat . Looks like we had a bit of dampness yesterday we didn't drive through much on the way down. M1 was reasonable till we got towards Luton. My OH drove back, as she has to put the seat well forward, it gave SIL, more legroom than if he'd been in the front!
Sorry to hear of illness worries, but glad to hear of resolutions on the way. I'm girding myself to ring a Hospital appointment line later. They send me texts for a duplicate appointment on two dates, I accepted one and cancelled the other all by txt. Now I have an automatic reply from the cancelled date saying sorry "they had to cancel" they will be in touch with another appointment, which of course I don't need. These auto systems are all very well but they they have a lot of issues.

Funny day today. It's grey and was cooler than I expected after I dressed to go out so off came the seeveless frock and on went a short-sleeved one. Half an hour later too hot so back in a sleeveless dress again. In the meantime I've had a chat with the nursery plants and set the seep hose going in the dahlias and clematis bed. Invisible watering.

Too late now to run my errands as there's a 2 hour lunch break at the reception for donated goods so I've had a potter with plants on the terrace and set off a wash.

Major kerfuffle in the night. OH slept upstairs as he needed to be up at dawn to get to his golf match. Cosmos went to keep him company. Visitor went up to explore. Lots of shouting as Cosmos, who doesn't speak, objected. OH got th evisitor shut in the room and Cosmos out so I got the basket I had ready and ******* OH only let the visitor out of the window! It lets out onto the annex roof - all very well for a sighted cat to get down from there but not so easy for one who's almost blind. I could have screamed with frustration and didn't sleep well afterwards.

Probably have to start again gaining his trust.

That sounds like a substantial lunch @Busy-Lizzie. I hope you all enjoy it and have fun.

Hope all goes well at the caravan @Penny_Forthem - good run for the dogs and no dramas with OH.

Fingers crossed for you and the internet @Liriodendron and for you and your builders @lizzie27

I've never played Canasta @Ladybird4 but OH says it's fun. He and an elderly couple from Loughborough (twinned town) tried to teach me Cribbage but they only came once a year and we never practised in between.

Got to love a capacious vehicle @Allotment Boy. Good luck withe appointments.

Have a lovely afternoon everyone to set us all up for a good weekend.

Afternoon all, unexpectedly hot today, a bit too hot for digging bush stumps out! OH has had another go whilst I did some rose pruning and deadheading. Trying to persuade him to leave the job for the builders, if they need the space I'm sure they can drill it out or something like that.

Hope @Busy-Lizzie is enjoying her big lunch on the terrace and that @Penny_Forthem and her OH are ok and enjoying the van.

I've never played Canasta either, in fact I'm not even sure what it is. Fingers crossed that @Ladybird's team wins.

What a kerfuffle Obelix, I bet you could have killed your OH. I imagine he's jolly glad to be out of your way playing golf today! Hope your visitor comes back though.

Have a good trip @redstar, and enjoy the show.

The big lunch went well, thanks. My oven is a bit feeble here, the Norfolk one is a bit fierce! Glad I allowed extra cooking time as the oven found 2 chickens, a tray of roast potatoes and a dish of Cauliflower cheese a bit heavy going. My friend turned up with a bag of courgettes which she cooked. Now I have broccoli over so I will make soup with St. Agur cheese.

We were chatting to my friend and her daughter after lunch, then found that my daughters had done all the washing up.

After lunch friend left and we went to a local bathing lake. The families swam and sunbathed. We sat on the café terrace and had cold drinks.

Everyone has gone home now. Peace! I must do some more watering, the promised heavy rain didn't happen.

Good evening all. Had two great games of Canasta - lost one and won one and it was great fun. My Mum and Dad taught me to play over 60 years ago when Dad was stationed in Kuala Lumpur. They played once a week with a couple they were very friendly with. I used to watch before it was bed time and asked them to teach me. I was very pleased when I discovered that my U3A had a Canasta group so I took it up again several years ago now. It is a very enjoyable game.
Fingers crossed that the 'digging' goes ahead next Wednesday @Liriodendron. Glad that you decided to go to your van @Penny_Forthem. A nice place to relax and unwind. Oh my goodness @Obelix-Vendée - the best laid plans etc. Now the visitor knows that food is readily available I'm sure it will be round again soon. @Busy-Lizzie your big family and friend get together sounded just wonderful but you do deserve a rest now - after all there is gardening to do!
I am going to say good night to you all now but meant to add above that my washing was all beautifully dry when I got back home late afternoon.
                              Happy Friday.jpg

We have a visitor, locked in the shower room @Ladybird4. Much swearing and leaping about at the start but now he's huddled on the rather long counter to the right of the basin and I've had a chat about language and he does listen to my voice now. I've been allowed a little stroke.

He has food, water a litter tray and bed in the cat carrier or on the bench cushion if he prefers.
Vet tomorrow then. They check for ID chips for free without appointments. Getting his eyes cleaned up and treated and everything else checked is another matter this close to French annual hols.

OH is sleeping upstairs again so our pussies can have a peaceful night and I've left a bowl of food for the hedgepig.

I need a good sleep after last night so let's hpe he stays calm.

                                Sweet dreams everyone.
