    Good morning everyone.
Well done @Obelix-Vendée for your patience. I am so pleased that you and Visitor have got closer to getting him sorted and loved. Hope he is a little calmer this morning. Well its raining here this morning but I have one more cake to make for Tea/Coffee morning tomorrow so I will enjoy that little task. Could be another knitting day later on.

      Good morning.

He's calm at the mo but clearly frightened @Ladybird4. He's clearly been busy in the night and has managed to tip over the scented leaf pelargonium I have under the window so that needs clearing up. Soil all over the travel basket cover too. He's hiding in the corner on the cool tiled floor - not comfy really - behind the end of the bench which is actually a large drawer disguised as a seat so pretty heavy to move. Full of all my old clothes for gardening and painting.

I shall try and tempt him out with food. Vet doesn't open till 10 today.

What cake are you making? None in view for me as no patch or garden meetings till September.

Have a lovely day everyone, even if it's raining.

          Good morning!

Congratulations, @Obelix-Vendée ! Hope you have some rose-pruning gloves to manoeuvre your visitor into the carrier... it's great that he allowed you to touch him, though. Is there a cat rescue charity which will fund vet's bills, neutering and the like? Good luck!

I pruned the damson tree yesterday. I've had it only 2 years, but I already need a stepladder to reach some of it; not sure how I'll manage in a few years time! Clearly it likes where it's living... no fruit yet, though it did have one flower this spring.

Hope you all have an enjoyable weekend :spinning:

            Not a lot happened yesterday.
However! When I checked my meds. which were delivered by hand, I found one item was still missing! I am so exasperated. I will have to phone the surgery again on Mon. That will be 4 calls about the same thing, another trip to the surgery to order the missing item, no repeat prescriptions accepted over the phone, and then another trip to collect it 3 working days later.
I sat and did some more to a pot holder I am making from patchwork, for my daughter. She spotted some pieces on my table and said immediately, "That was my infant school uniform dress material". I thought it would be nice to use it in something for her. I have a memory quilt started for her but cannot see me finishing it.
My son told me when they visited his father on Thurs., they played Jazz to him and had a sing a long. A lot of noise, father sang in tune but totally incomprehensible. After a couple of hours they were all exhausted. My son is still tying up loose ends on a variety of things such as personal alarm etc.. My daughter went to visit her father and meet up with her brother. Fortunately she has her own car which will make life much easier for my son who has had to walk and bus everywhere.
Lizzie I do not like drinking spirits but a hot milk and brandy todddy to go to bed with certainly helps with getting to sleep! Could become a bad habit! Recommended by a GP no less, so it must be good for you!
I agree about some Drs. We have a lady Dr. in our practice who is so dismissive and unsympathetic it beggars belief. I keep thinking to myself, Just wait until you are my age and struggling, I hope your own words come back to haunt you.

I hope everyone has a lovely day.

              Good morning all.

              How frustrating @Goldenlily26!
Good luck with Visitor @Obelix-Vendée. I wonder if he has a microchip? I expect the vet will find out.

I slept very well last night, exhausted after the family visit. I spent a lot of time cooking. It was fun though.

I put the sprinkler on the veg garden last night then an hour later the heavens opened and we had a decent amount of rain at last. Now it's sunny.

Loads of deadheading to do today.

You’ve reminded me @Liriodendron I must have a look at our damson and see if we have a crop developing. It was here when we moved in and sits right on the boundary with a neighbour. Very tall and completely shaded by our walnut and swamped by their large Aucuba. Amazingly we usually get a small crop each year, I can only reach the lower ones so we get just enough for 5 or 6 jars of jam.

I was planning on being up and out into the garden early today but rain has stopped play. Not on the forecast so a complete surprise. I have contradictory feelings of delight at getting some more rain and why did it have to be today!

I did manage an hour in the garden yesterday, harvested the last few potato plants and yet more runner beans. Some of our sweetcorn tassels are already browning so. Hoping we will have some ready to pick soon. For the first year in ages, my sunflowers are also looking magnificent. It’s a running joke how I fail year on year to grow decent sunflowers. I wish I knew what it was that had made the difference.

Congratulations on your GD’s graduation @Allotment Boy

What a frustration @Goldenlily26, getting medication right really is a basic standard. My son is on strong painkillers for a joint condition. As they are so strong he is only allowed a 6 day prescription at a time so if that ends just before or at the weekend he often ends up without any meds until the following week. His surgery requires need 48 hours notice to repeat the prescription but on this medication he can’t request the meds until he is down to the final days dose :dunno: He’s only on a 6-day prescription as he is undiagnosed but they can’t find a diagnosis - you really couldn’t make it up and they wonder why so many people are signed off work

Anyway rant over and I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend whether it’s relaxing after guests or at the van, cake baking or cat charming

The Visitor is not chipped and is a full male. He has a full set of fleas too as well as ulcers around his eyes and a wound on his chest. He's been given eye drops and flea, tick and worm treatment. The vet says we need to check if he's FIV positive and that requires anaesthetic in order to a blood test. Results back in 5 minutes and then she'll either put him to sleep permanently or else castrate him and fix his wound.

That's next Friday so, in the meantime, he'll be living in our shower room where he can no longer hide when I need to do his eye treatments and can't interact with our pair to exchange fleas or FIV. Now we can see his eyes, they are a lovely blue so full Siamese colouring but not the shape or the voice. He's calm now and can sleep or eat as needed.

@Liriodendron I planted a damson in our Belgian garden and, as we rarely eat jam, I made damson vodka and gin with our last crop before we moved here. It should be maturing nicely now.

@Goldenlily26 if only someone told GP practices how much money and time they waste being inefficient.

                  @Busy-Lizzie enjoy a well-earned rest.

@Ladybird4 and @Butterfly6 I hope rain doesn't stop play too long.

Off to the market at La Tranche now. We discovered a butcher's stand with pork with skin still on!! And a plants stall.

@Obelix-Vendée it is a cheat cake as I'm using a Betty Crocker Rainbow Party Cake mix. The other two I've made - a tea loaf and a lemon drizzle are all my own work. What a faff for you people who have repeat prescription wrangles - I thought mine was bad enough. I order by email allowing 72 hours before going to the pharmacy and picking it up my medications. It goes automatically from the surgery to the pharmacy so at least I don't have to go there and pick it up. What makes me smile is, I always allow more than 72 hours yet even then I have to wait while the Chemist makes up my prescription.

                          Good Day everyone.

It’s post food shopping coffee time here. The skies are clearing and it should be a warm and pleasant day. It’s my day off sandwiched between two 12 hour shifts, so a bit of gardening will be therapeutic.

                          Enjoy the weekend folks.

The rain fizzled out and we have been out in the garden, just come back in. We got quite a few jobs done and got thoroughly wet from dripping trees and wet foliage. Very enjoyable though as the temperature is just the right side of warm.

Planning a lazy afternoon with a book. I don’t seem to have done any proper reading for a while.

We love a bit of crackling. Your cat sounds very handsome, fingers crossed he gets the all clear and enjoys and appreciates your loving attention @Obelix-Vendée

Enjoy your day off @AuntyRach I’m glad you’re getting some bright weather, we’ve had quite a few grey days this week. Lovely and mild but heavy cloud.

It's rather cool here. Says 15, but feels chillier. Good job I brought a fleece with me.
Going to pop to the farm shop; fancy making shish kebabs for tonight.
I bought a new book, 'Mexcla' by Ixta Belfrage.
Bills itself as 'recipes to excite' and there are some excellent ones (but not while you're in a caravan!)

                                Good afternoon to you all!

I have had a rather unsettling time - waking up Thursday morning I put my hand down to Fizz who sleeps on a mat beside my bed. She felt stiff and inert!! I jumped out of bed and put me ear to her side. She was completely inert!! My goodness!! She's died in the night. I started to drag the mat out to the lounge when she raised her head and said "What the heck....?" But dropped it down again. I put the kettle on and she got up and went outside to flop down. There is a 24/7 vet in Beziers so I decided to take her in. When I got into the shower, she came in - ears pricked forward - thinking we were going out for out ride. In the end I tool her to her vet here at 9am - no appointment - but was received although the vets were operating. 41°C temperature - injections of anti inflammatories and anti-biotic and a course of anti bitotics for a week. Follow up this morning - but her mojo is only half back and her temperature was still at 40°C. Another anti-infection injection - blood tests and an ultra sound - she has a high count of white blood cells which of course indicates an infection. An appointment on Monday for an in-depth ultrasound on her tummy. There is no swelling, no lumps but she has been spotting for some time, although in good spirits - eating and drinking well No blood in urine or faeces to indicate the dreaded piroplasmosis. Anyway, quiet in the cool until Monday. Yes, a hefty bill.

Our temperatures have dropped to normal summer days - i.e. 28/29°C - not the sort of weather to be gardening in, but nice anyway.

Boy, you people seem to have such problems with your prescriptions and deliveries. How annoying to be going back and forth to chemists and constant phone calls.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend.
