    Good evening!

Well, I got a lot of "un-knitting" done during the football. It's fun watching with OH, who is totally committed, and has a right foot which tends to try to join in with the action... I was pleased to see England win, but don't share his passion in that respect. Cricket is a different matter. Can't knit (or un-knit) when that's on the TV.

Many of you will remember Pat E, in New South Wales, Australia. I've been corresponding with her on the jigsaw site we both use, and she asked me to pass on her best wishes to you all. She's just had her 85th birthday, and is doing ok, as is her husband - and so is her son's cat, Pixel, who is now living with them permanently. She's sorry not to be joining in here, but finds it impossible to use the Gardeners Corner site. I told her how much we'd enjoyed seeing her photos.

Hope you and OH have a peaceful night, @Penny_Forthem .

Thinking of you, @Tui34 . Hope Fizz makes a quick recovery.

Good morning everyone and such a nice message from Pat E to wake up to. Thank you @Liriodendron for passing that on and please send her my regards. I used to love her pictures of the eucalyptus trees which always drew me to my family in Perth. It has rained a little in the night so I was pleased that the table cloths I brought home from the tea/coffee morning to launder were all done and dried and back inside. I am going to visit my blind friend this afernoon and I'm taking her some cake to have with her tea. Haven't quite decided what I am doing until then. I hope that people and pets who have have some rough days, have happier times today.

Good morning. On parade late today after being woken up several times in the night by the Visitor meowing. He has finally used the litter tray and seems to have been holding on to a week's worth. Calm now tho and enjoying head scratches.

We have dishwasher man coming later as the hinges on the door have gone, again. I suspect they're not designed to manage the weight of the "decorative" slab that makes it look like just another kitchen cupboard. On Saturday we had fridge man. The tall fridge freezer we originally bought for Possum's apartment in Belgium has had a gas leak so the fridge isn't working and the freezer will die. Not reparable. PITA as that's the fridge I use to store my seeds, cold drinks and pots of opened spice pastes. Just waiting for the 3rd leccy problem now.

Thanks for the news from Pat E @Liriodendron and please pass on my best wishes her and her family. I've recently planted a eucaluptus rubida - candle bark gum - grown from seeds I got in the RHS seed share scheme just before Brexit. It has lovely bark @Ladybird4 and will, I hope, grow big enough to mask the view of the neighbouring farm buildings.

I hope everyone has had a peaceful night and that the week starts well for us all. We are in for a calm, dry week with temps in the mid 20s so should manage quite a bit of gardening.

          Good Morning all.

That is a lovely message about PatE @Liriodendron - send her my best wishes too. She is fab for 85 isn’t she?

It’s my ‘weekend’ now as 2 days off. I hope everyone has a super week ahead - no dramas and plenty of smiles.

Another non day for me. I did tie in the sweetpeas which have begun climbing their supports. Late I know but better late than not at all.

My daughter is back home, very upset about her father and his situation. The Palliative Care team are trying to find a bed for him down here so that visiting him would be so much easier for her than a 4hr drive each way as it is at the moment. My son is hiring a camper van to bring down the things they have decided to keep and some which are going to be valued and sent to auction, like my ex's stamp and coin collections, which none of us know anything about. He managed to find homes for some things by putting them out on the verge with a sign saying "FREE! Please help yourself." They have filled 3 skips with unwanted "stuff". My son is hiring a camper van to bring down the items that are being kept, they have decided to take a few days break before returning to Canada as my daughter in law has an ap. to see a specialist about her spine problem coming up.
My heart breaks for them, seeing their father in his situation and nothing more they can do to alleviate his pain etc. He has been put on a morphine regime now and is being kept as comfortable as possible. Still cantankerous, but that is not going to change now!

Good health and recovery to Fizz and Shower Room Visitor! If he stays with you he will always remember you as his favourite person who cared for him in his hour of need. If he enjoyed a head rub he has been someones pet, fully ferule cats rarely accept touch as enjoyable. They allow us to touch them, on their terms, for as long as they feel they can, then they are off.

Sorry about your OH's problems and their effect on your son and daughter @Goldenlily26.

I agree about him having started out as someone's pet but they didn't care enough to have him chipped or castrated and I suspect his health problems are not recent in origin. He's done well to find us. He still swears when I pick him up for his eye medicine but then asks for extra head rubs and I even got a brief purr last night. Fingers crossed for Friday's blood test.

              Enjoy your "weekend" @AuntyRach.

Dishwasher man has just arrived and this time he's brought the spare parts to fix the hinges so no time lost confirming the problem and ordering. We have a contract with them to manage all our leccy goods so it's in their interest to keep return visits to a minimum.

                Good afternoon all,
A breezy but dry day here so far and reasonably warm when the sun shines. I’ve risked some washing on the line to dry and think it will.
Good to hear about Pat E @Liriodendron. I used to enjoy seeing her pictures of the clouds. Glad to hear that she and her OH are both well.
Yes, it must be very difficult for your children at the moment @Goldenlily26. I do hope the palliative care team will be able to find a place closer to your daughter as that’s quite a drive for your daughter at present.
I’ve got my fingers crossed for a good result on Friday @Obelix-Vendée. Your little cat friend deserves another chance. He’s beginning to trust you more now, too.

                  Hello all.
We've been shopping for bits and pieces, like shampoo, loo rolls, wine and superglue.
It's sunny with a pleasant breeze but I feel too knackered to do much.

Glad to see you have your priorities right, @Busy-Lizzie
We're home and I've picked toms and courgettes and realised I forgot to pick up tom fertiliser at the GC yesterday. Stoopid moi. I ran outlast week.
But I did buy some solar lights in the sale
                    This sort (halfprice)
Garden Mile Damasque Solar Lanterns for The Garden Solar Lights Outdoor Waterproof Freestanding Or Hanging Solar-Powered Lights Large LED Lanterns for Outside for Patio Yard Outdoor Lighting : Amazon.co.uk: Lighting
That was probably why I forgot the fertiliser!!

Hello all. A change of plans for me today as I got a message from my friend to say that she was not feeling well at all and could we give today a miss. We were both disappointed but could see the sense in waiting until she is feeling better. Although she is classified as blind she does still have a little sight and used to be a regular Canasta player until her vision deteriorated. I am not quizzing tonight - my turn for a night off so I will just watch all the quizzes on TV in case I get withdrawal symptoms! I do have to say that your shopping list is very esoteric @Busy-Lizzie . I have felt a bit knackered today too and my back - thanks to the garden - has been kicking off.
So sorry to read about your family difficulties @Goldenlily26 and I do hope that a place is found that is nearer for your daughter's visiting journeys.
That is a bonnie lamp @Penny_Forthem. I have several in my back garden and love seeing them light up at dusk. Speaking of which, has everyone noticed how much earlier it is getting dark these days?
Anyway, I am going to bid you all good night now and I'll see you in the morning.

Yes, I’ve noticed it getting dark earlier, @Ladybird4. I wait until it’s dark before putting out the badger’s supper, always a pain at midsummer, as I have to stay up later than I’d like to.
So good to hear that Pat E is well. I do hate it when regular posters drop out of touch, I was just thinking about Pat a few days ago, and wondering how she is. Haven’t seen @Ante1 on here for a while either, and I do still miss several of the Gardeners World posters, who didn’t make the leap, or didn’t settle here.
It’s been a slightly strange day. OH had some blood test results back, and these were good, so that has cheered us both up. I also spent an hour and a half pulling up brambles! Rather addictive, I had to force myself to come in when my back had been twingeing for some time. I thought I’d just do one more and stop, and then I’d see a root I could attack with the mini mattock, and that would result in another couple of lengths to drag out. I can actually see some clear ground at last, and have nearly filled one green bin. If I generate a lot more greenery, I may have to tip the bin out and shred the contents, at the moment, the brambles are just twisted into little bundles.
We had a couple of brief showers, one while we were walking the dog, but the local lanes are so heavily sheltered by the trees that it’s possible to walk a long way without getting wet.
                          Sleep well, everyone.

I'm passing on your greetings to Pat via the jigsaw site. I'm sure she'll be happy to know that we remember her!

Dry but dull here today, but we got the grass cut and the edges done. Spent quite a while pulling cleavers out of the "bramble hedge" - I've only just seen them, too late really because some of the sticky seeds came off while I was yanking them out. Might have reduced next year's invasion a bit, though, and I'll be able to see the blackberries more easily now the cleavers have gone; there are already a few ripe berries, which I hope to pick tomorrow before the blackbirds scoff them all. I've got a lot of "windfall" (ie corvid removed) cooking apples to deal with, and they'd be nice with the addition of some blackberries.

Evening everybody, we're back from a very enjoyable family weekend down in Bournemouth.
Had two beach walks, (OH also swam) and I was treated to a lovely Sunday lunch in a pub/hotel with eight of us. Came home with flowers, chocs and wine!

Just had a quick read back but it was such a lot I now can't remember who did what so apologies all round.

The builder was here when we arrived, diligently breaking concrete, lifting paving and digging. I was a bit dismayed to find that the first half of the terrace was filled with solid blue/yellow clay (I could make lots of pots!) rather damp looking and not the hollow centre we had anticipated - I don't think the builder was too happy either!
