Thanks for passing on the messages from Dove and Punkdoc, @Busy-Lizzie. Both a great loss to the forum, and personally. Hope they all keep well.
I love the sound of that meal on the terrace, all things I would have chosen.
I’ve had a productive day. Out to the bramble patch, which is now virtually gone! OH shredded four barrow loads of brambles, while I pulled them up by the roots. Many of them had rooted within the carpet of leaves under the trees, so were relatively easy to dislodge. The bad news is that the area is quite a steep hill, so I do have to watch my footing to avoid going rear over front!
Love the idea of purpose designed scorecard pockets, @Obelix-Vendée! OH likes to keep his reading glasses in his shirt pocket. One pocket so so wide that the specs would fall horizontally to the bottom, so I sewed a seam down the middle, worked a treat.

Late posting as I’ve just sat down after a looooong day in work (after a shower and crumpets). You’ve all been chatty today. Are you all ok…as there’s been mention of ironing and dusting !!! Easy folks!

I hope everyone has a calm and comfortable night with minimal disruption from pains, worries, cats, or other sleep-stealers.

Thank you @AuntyRach, I've had such a stressful day, battling with technology, that I didn't know whether to scream or burst into tears! Fortunately a very nice man from BT held my hand and talked me through most bits and when that didn't work, arranged for an engineer to call tomorrow afternoon. I was most impressed.

Next up was an online claim form from the Council which I tried but failed to complete. I've had to leave it till tomorrow, I couldn't cope with any more.

A large glass of cold Pinot went down very well later.

I realise my little dramas don't compare at all with the ones you face at work every day so I take my hat off to you. Apologies for my rant.

Good morning everyone. Had a rubbish night last night I could not get a decent sleep - fits and starts. I amused myself by watching the rain running down the windows - only joking of course but it was definitely raining! Off - with my knitting - to Bestie's today. She has her Granddaughter with her so it will be all arty crafty unless she decides we are playing supermarket shopping! Whatever you have planned, I hope you have a super day.

            Good morning to you all!

Sorry to hear of your bad night @Ladybird4 Maybe tonight will be a catch up one. I actually had a decent sleep - probably after a week's worry about a little b & w dog!!

Good advice @Obelix-Vendée I make my own yoghurt so she got a tablespoonful of that and really enjoyed it. So she got another dollop!! She didn't eat much last night - but she did eat which is good. I will try a Dentastick later on.

Good bargaining with the builder @lizzie27 and a good builder to meet you in the middle.

I wish you all a good Thursday.

It was lovely to see my son and DIL, and have a hug and cuddle, before they left for a walk on the beach. They leave for Canada today, returning the hired camper van and visiting my ex. before heading for the airport. I hope the chaos at London Airport yesterday does not affect their journey. They were planning to stop off in Spain for a recuperative short break but everywhere is fully booked and very expensive, school holidays period of course. They decided to go straight home and rest there.
A bed has been found for my ex down here in Cornwall, depending on the results of his next assessment and whether the nursing home has the facilities to care for him. Fingers crossed.
They were in awe, and very complimentary about the care my ex. has received on the stroke unit of the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. They could not fault the staff or facilities, which is wonderful to hear when there is so much criticism about the NHS.

I might try to tackle another waddle down the lane today. When I did it a couple of days ago I decided to try and "walk upright and briskly", rather than shuffle along bent over my crutches. I felt a bit stiff yesterday but boy am I paying for it today. Really stiff and sore in the hips.

Decent sleep last night but in two chunks as the huntress announced a catch at 5:30 and then, just before dawn an hour later, Cosmos needed a cuddle and play. I woke up again at 9:30 to find OH had kindly gone in and fed the Visitor without giving any thought to catching him for his eye lotion. Doh! He's not coming out till he's hungry again but still enjoys a head rub under the bed. He seems fine but I'm getting a bit stressed about tomorrow.

Weekly shop done and lunch has been had. Having a cuppa before tackling OH's trousers again as it will keep my brain engaged better than weeding.

I hope you had a good sleep @AuntyRach after your long day. Good to know Fizz is doing well @Tui34. Viruses and other bug infections can really take time for full energy recovery.

Are you connected and faster now @Liriodendron?

Courage @lizzie27 and good luck with the technology.

                Enjoy your afternoon everyone.

We had lunch today with friends; he is a volunteer train driver with a historic railway and she is a volunteer guide at Chester zoo. I heard about the baby snow leopard, the tiger breeding programme (fascinating), the conservation work both here and overseas and the new African lodges. I could have stayed all day listening to them both.
In return, they picked our brains about the greenhouse, solar power and friends from the 1960s.
I think they were more interesting than us.

                    Hello everyone!

Thanks @Obelix-Vendée - we were connected up straight away, with a download speed in the 80s and no drop-outs. Their customer service is great, too.

A busy day packing for our anniversary trip to Scotland - we're setting off very early tomorrow. Managed to fit in some gardening this afternoon, too, because it became warm and sunny. The car is virtually packed, apart from things currently in the fridge. We're driving to Belfast via our daughter's to deliver something to her, and have begged a space at their table to eat some breakfast...

                    Fingers crossed for Visitor tomorrow.

Well, the landline has now been sorted. Two lovely BT engineers arrived on time so I showed them the offending phone socket upstairs in the 'office'. However apparently the problem needed the main phone to be plugged in upstairs - cue, shock, horror! The main phone socket is behind a large bookcase (don't ask!) in the living room. We had to move my heavy recliner chair, and a side table, take all the books out, 6 shelves full so everybody helped out, us, a friend who was visiting and one of the engineers. He was a star! We are now officially digital - whatever that means. The engineers kept asking us if we had the alarm pendents as special arrangements are in place in that eventuality. Thankfully we don't.

The expected thunder and very hard torrential rain arrived just after the men left but after it stopped I whizzed out for some fresh air and pruned the very long shoots on the wisteria.

That sounds a very interesting lunch out @Penny_Forthem, glad you enjoyed it.

Hope your ex's move goes according to plan @Goldenlily26, it will make your daughter's life much easier. I'm sorry your hips etc are giving you grief.

Is your house open plan @Obelix-Vendée? I keep wondering why the cats aren't shut downstairs in a room so you can sleep better. Hope tomorrow's news is good.

I've been out messing with hosepipes - helped by Cosmos who pretends they're snakes that need a good scragging - to water different parts of the veg plot and beds showing signs of deep thirst. There's a very cool breeze blowing.

Congrats @Liriodendron for your new connectivity. Hope the journey goes smoothly and you have a great time in your island cottage.

Sounds like a really good time @Penny_Forthem. Chester zoo does some really good conservation work and greenhouses are not boring.

I too hope your ex gets into a home nearer your daughter @Goldenlily26. Don't stop exercising but don't overdo it either.

@lizzie27 no, not open plan but our cats are free to come and go via the catflap or open doors and windows as the case may be. It's just that the shower room (with the catflap) is the easiest place to keep the Visitor as he can't hide under furniture. He does try and get out but I have locked the catflap and blocked it outside too.

Possum helped me get him out from under the bed and do his eyes when she got home and he won't be allowed in the bedroom tonight. We've had a good grooming session with the cat brush too and lots of head and cheek rubs. One last session ad feed before bed and then nil by mouth from midnight. OH sleeps upstairs in the guest room when he has to be up very early for golf so he's just moved up for the duration and I did too last night. Our pair can come in and out at night thru its window which gives on to the annex roof with easy access down.

                        Have a peaceful night everyone.

Good evening all. I had a super time at Bestie's today and her 8 (going on 45) year old granddaughter was amusing as ever. She did lots of craftwortk and then we got dragged into a card game I've never seen before. Definitely not a patch on Canasta! It rained most of the day then the sun broke through late afternoon.
Good news about the bed for your ex @Goldenlily26 but I guess you may feel a bit sad about seeing your son and DIL heading back off to Canada
Pleased @Liriodendron and @lizzie27 have their techie issues sorted and that you had such an interesting time @Penny_Forthem. Oh that baby snow leopard was just so cute! Safe journey tomorrow @Liriodendron.
I will be thinking about you and the Visitor tomorrow @Obelix-Vendée and I've everything crossed here that all will be fine.
See you all in the morning.

                              Hello August.jpg
Pinch and a punch for the first of the month everyone and no returns. This year is speeding passed. Another first Friday so the Quizzers are going out for lunch today. I am picking up two of my friends at about 13:00. The sky is rather overcast. Hope that @Liriodendron gets her safe journey today and that the Visitor is passed as healthy. Have a great start to this new month!

                                Good morning to you all!

A nice sunny morning - the wind has dropped for now. Off with Fizz before it gets too hot for us both.

Good connections for @lizzie27 and @Liriodendron I found the tecchies very good when they connected the Fibre here too. (Until I had problems with the printer - anyway ......) They spent 4 hours faffing around and no trenches had to be dug!

Good luck @Obelix-Vendée with the Visitor. I expect he will have a name by this afternoon!! I do hope all goes well. Fingers crossed. Fizz is better but seems tired - until I get the bike or the hose out!!!

Walking is good @Goldenlily26 but briskly? Take it easy. There are chair exercises to do - knee lifting etc. I do these sort of exercises on my large Swiss ball to strengthen my abs. Chairs are good!!

Must fly - enjoy your first Friday of the month luncheon @Ladybird4
