Just had the most frustrating morning, visiting 3 pharmacies for a particular product for hub. Finally located at the furthest (and most inaccessible) one
Then the optician phoned and said my new glasses were ready and that the shut at 4. When I got there, they were closed for lunch - a fact that had not been mentioned. I'm afraid I rang them up and gave them a piece of my mind, I was so fed up. I passed the time browsing Home Bargains. Then they were late opening. She tried to say she'd rung me to say they were closed for lunch, but, funnily enough, no evidence of such a call on the mobile...
Anyway, I have spex and a headache. I very rarely lose my rag.
@Liriodendron you're going to be very windswept on Monday.
@Goldenlily26 hope you can find fishy homes.
    @Allotment Boy there's always 111

What a disaster with your fish tank, @Goldenlily26. Great that you were able to retrieve the fish. It doesn’t sound like you will bother to replace the tank?
I’m not now expecting good news from @Obelix-Vendée. She said the blood test would be done while he was asleep, with results in five minutes, and a decision made straight away. Mind you, she could easily have her hands full looking after him if he is recovering at home. Let’s hope so. At least he had a week of love and comfort.

Son and family have called in this morning to collect the dog after their holiday. I’ve put all her ‘laundry’ through the wash, two loads of blankets and bedding, and they’ve been put outside to dry. I’ll go round the laminate floors with a mop and floor cleaner, ( method almond scented, will certainly improve the lingering atmosphere!) Having her here has felt quite restrictive, but for the life of me, I can’t remember what I haven’t been able to do! Apart from leaving doors open!

Have you tried 111, @Allotment Boy? You can phone or do a questionnaire on line. I must confess that I have done the on line questionnaire a few times, and gone back a few pages to downgrade my symptoms slightly! Nothing worse than being told that I should contact my doctor urgently, on a Saturday! I usually decide I must have exaggerated the severity of my symptoms, and juggle the results so it’s not so inconvenient!

I started to look at 111, but as my answer to the first two lots of questions was none of the above, I felt it's not that bad. We will keep watching to see if it develops more.

          Afternoon all,

Goodness me @Goldenlily26, what an unwanted adventure with your fish tank. Glad you could rescue the fish and I hope you can get them rehoused as soon as possible. As Ergates says, it doesn’t sound as if you are replacing the tank?

Perhaps a word with the pharmacist might help @Allotment Boy if you can’t get to see a doctor? Some pharmacies have later opening hours. I know they can’t prescribe anything as such, but may be able to advise whether you should have it looked at by a doctor.

I, too, hope there is good news from @Obelix-Vendée about the little cat.

We had a good turn out again for our fund raising coffee morning at church today. I don’t know how much has been raised yet, but I think we’ve done quite well.

Dear me, a very frustrating morning for you @Penny_Forthem, no wonder you were cross.

Good evening all. What a chapter of incidents! What a nightmare for you @Goldenlily26! A small plus point there is that you were actually at home when it happened and not still out at the Water Garden. Hope you find good homes for your fish. My Aquaman takes back any fishes that need rehoming. Will you just look at that wonderful blue sky on @Liriodendron's picture! Marvellous view that. @lizzie27 pleased to hear that the tooth disintegration is painless and here's hoping the Dentist can get it sorted - without it having you to re-mortgage your home! @Allotment Boy I hope that your reaction to the jab subsides soon.

@Penny_Forthem I would have gone ballistic if that had happened to me. Sometimes I wonder why these people don't think about their 'clients' and show a little more consideration. I like your new specs!
@Ergates, I am beginning to feel a bit like you about @Obelix-Vendée and the Visitor. She has been looking after that little cat for quite some time now.
@Blue arbour, I am always touched by the generosity of people for good causes so well done to those generous donors and all the people who got the fund raising activity organised.
I am saying good evening now and I'll catch up with you all tomorrow.

A very good morning one and all. Looking a bit dull out there and according to the Beeb weather App there is an 85% chance of rain. Hmmm. @Liriodendron, it's not looking too good where you are at the moment. I wonder if your sky will still get to be that glorious blue.If @Obelix-Vendée has a chance to peep in, just wanted to say I'm thinking about you and the Visitor.

Just when you think you have everything under control something else blows you out of the water.
I called a local aquarium shop who were happy to take my 2 large Angel fish, 2 very large Long finned, Golden, Bristlenosed Cat fish, 2 Harlequins and 1 Cardinal Tetra. I made my way to the car only to find the battery is flat!
I knew my daughter was diving so I went and asked my neighbour if she could help me out, it should only take an hour. Ha! She kindly agreed and off we set, until we met the main road. Saturday down here is changeover day so always busy but it progressively got worse until we reached a set of road works traffic lights, outside Asda, permanently on red. After being over taken by a number of cars we went for it and made our way to the garden centre where the aquatic shop is part of the set up. The manager took my bucket of fish and seemed to be gone for ages. When he came back he could barely contain himself with his excitement, he is going to take the Bristlenosed cat fish home for himself, he had fallen in love with them. Good to know they have gone to someone who appreciates them and knows how to look after them.
I treated my neighbour and myself to a hot chocolate in the tearoom before coming home via a detour to miss the traffic jam. In the evening my daughter called me to say someone had messaged her asking if the fish were still available, sorry, too late.
I have decided not to reinstate my aquarium but I am surprised how much I miss the tank and its inmates. It has given me many years of enjoyment and interest.

Good luck with the dentist Lizzie. That will be a costly job.
I hope the news about "Visitor" is not bad.

Whilst we had our hot chocolate my neighbour tried extremely hard to persuade me to have another dog. She came up with all sorts of ideas, from me having her dog for company a couple of days of the week, (an insane Springer Spaniel who cannot sit still), to me fostering a dog with the Cinnamon Trust, her walking my dog if I had one, a small dog would not need a lot of exercise. I have so much love to give a dog, think of all of those dogs needing a loving home
Etc. etc. Despite having very little money my neighbour seems to collect animals so I think it is her need for animals not mine that makes her try to persuade me to replace Rob.
I do not want to have another dog so it was "water off a ducks back".

My son made his final visit to see his father and then his house. Did a last mini tidy, de-spider and then were ready to head for Heathrow. They went and thanked the neighbour for everything she had done for my ex, plating up a Christmas dinner each year, etc., and she very kindly insisted on driving them to the airport. What a kind gesture, about 45mins down the M4 but Heathrow is a nightmare at this time of the year.
A very emotional day for my son, saying Goodbye to his father and childhood home but he will soon be back in his own home. Camping, walking, swimming, paddle boarding and running etc. in the beautiful Rocky Mountains will be healing for him. You can find whole lakes entirely to yourself and there is always snow on the tops of the ranges which are stunningly beautiful.

I am going to put out the last of the towels used to mop up the catastrophy. When I got up there was a heavy, thick sea mist which has now cleared. Now I have lots of clean towels! There is always a siver lining some where.

Morning all, grey and drizzly here so probably an indoors day catching up on the ironing.

Pleased the fish all went to good homes @Goldenlily26, although you might be sad to see them go, at least it means no more 'mucking out'. Dogs take up such a lot of time and energy I'm not surprised you'd rather not have another one, let alone the emotional loss of your much loved one.

It was indeed very kind of your ex's neighbour to give a lift to your son, especially in the very tough circumstances. His Canadian home sounds gorgeous.

I very nearly put my foot right in it this morning. On my way back from the shops, I passed a couple with a dog, one of many we meet and usually exchange pleasantries with. Today I asked this couple if they'd heard the woodland development we were walking past had been rejected by the planners. Thank goodness I didn't say 'that awful development', because it was them!!
Oops and double oops. They then asked me my opinion and I had to be incredibly tactful how I phrased my answer. Fortunately I was able to tell them truthfully we hadn't objected. We might not have liked it but we do need more houses, just not million pound ones. A very interesting conversation ensued. Turned out they are very local people in fact.

Enjoy your Sunday and batten down the hatches @Liriodendron.

Good afternoon, a quick dash to the Allotments today, just picked cabbage broccoli and beans, a few more toms and 4 Dahlia flowers ( they are very slow this year). There's now a few fine drops in the air. We are noticing some odd bird activity. Big flock of Gulls yesterday, just before we came back in 6 or so Geese flew diagonally across very low over the house, and now magpies swooping over the fences and trees, maybe they sense the predicted storm, though we aren't supposed to be really impacted here.
Let's hope things settle down for you now @Goldenlily26 .

BTW my arm though still sore is much less inflamed than yesterday.

                            Good afternoon,

It’s getting breezier here as the day progresses, but it isn’t cold. It’s mostly dry, just an odd splash of rain that comes to nothing much. I think we are forecast more prolonged rain for tomorrow along with more blustery conditions.

Just been out for a sandwich at one of our nearby GC’s. Bought some verbena bonariensis seeds, must remember to sow them when it’s time and not forget about them, which is my usual trick when I buy seeds. It’s not the right time to sow them now according to the packet.

Glad to hear that the inflammation is subsiding @Allotment Boy.

Happy Anniversary to @Liriodendron and her OH.

I've been tidying and sweeping the big open barn. It's like a huge car port. Need to go to the tip with the rubbish. I keep my car, wheelbarrows, compost and garden tools there.

Getting too warm outside to do much now. Think I'll read my book.

Nice to see you, @Penny_Forthem, and like the elegant specs! ( And the dress and the hat, too!)
Very pleased that your fish have gone to a safe place, @Goldenlily26. Sounds like the bristle nosed catfish especially, are going to be living a life of luxury!
You must also be so thankful that your son will have the consolation of the great outdoors to help him through the coming weeks. Nothing like being surrounded by trees and nature to calm troubled spirits. I credit our frequent trips to the Donkey Sanctuary, with its beautiful walks, for keeping the pair of us on a relatively even keel.
We have had our son’s dog staying for over two weeks, and it has made me realise I don’t really want another one of my own. Admittedly, OH has been less mobile than usual during her visit - I don’t know who was walking slower, him or the 15 year old! However, I still did all the feeding, picking up after her, and the local round the block walks. I’m sure that even with our own dog, I’d be the one carrying most of the burden. Given our age, I’d also be looking for a mature rescue dog. I’ve heard said that you should never outlive your children, and your dog shouldn’t outlive you, so while it would be lovely to give a happy home, and I could cope with any medical problems, I’d still struggle when the inevitable arrives.
Wow, @lizzie27, well done for thinking on your feet! Really awkward when something like that happens, but it sounds as if you side stepped it very expertly! Hope all goes smoothly at the dentist tomorrow. When you are wincing at the bill, remember how much it costs to get a plumber out, with far less training, and little expensive equipment to maintain!
You’ve made me think, @Blue arbour. I also guilty of buying seeds, and then missing the planting season. I’m going to put an alert in my iPad calendar, and hope I don’t ignore it, or forget where I put the seeds!
