Nothing much today, picked all of the red and white currants, just got the blackberries and do some watering later.

Weeding with The Child, it's rather nice just to toil about together. :)

Potted up together two small Blackcurrants, the fruit will be donated to the birds but I need the leaves for cucumber pickling  I hate currants, probably a childhood trauma when kids' job was to sit under the shrubs and pick bucketful after bucketful for juicing and jams. It had to be done properly, no ripe fruit left behind. No easy reaping, the clusters had to be pulled off clear with their stems (there was a reason for this but personally I believe it was just to help children build character. )

The third small Blackcurrant went into it's own pot, it has a strong leader stem so I'm planning to grow it as standard for the patio. Blackcurrants are very accommodating with people bent to play with their plants, and prunings are loved by the Degus. :)

A small Lonicera repens went straight into the ground without the usual growing on phase, I made a large hole and used good compost, manure and BFB and watered copiously. It should be fine I hope.

Discovered the downside of "cottage garden" style planting as I was pulling out a most handsome weed next to a Verbascum that turned out to be a turnip

@Onthelevels, Some of them might if you keep them well watered and perhaps fed
        Here's hoping!

Its been a rotten morning weather wise but fined up this afternoon, the wind already picked up manged to swing the garage door into the van denting /scratching it :gaah:

Mowed the lawn after I cheered up about the paint damage, mowed it twice with two different mowers time to burn its seems . All my seeds have germinated from last week  . Moved some pots off the wall so they don't get blown off , not looking forward to the amount of damage the wind and rain will do tomorrow

Didn't do a lot yesterday, but it cleared up during the morning and I got some deadheading done, and sorted some more bits and pieces in the shed. Then moved some vulnerable pots etc in preparation for today's weather. Checked that the sweet peas and other annual climbers were well secured.
Nothing will get done outdoors today other than popping out to feed the birds. Had to move one pot that got cowped. Fortunately no damage. It's meant to ease up a bit later on in terms of rain and wind.
I might have to do housework instead :rolleyespink:

Pouring with rain this morning which is excellent for the garden. Don’t have any winds yet, suspect we may just be on the cusp of the storm. Take care all those affected with the storms. Not very pleasant and unexpected for this time of the year.

Yesterday, after a quick dash to the Allotments to pick up some more veg, did a bit in the garden. We did some pruning on one of the Acers. It tried to rain a couple of times but never really came to anything. Not sure about today the storm isn't supposed to affect us here but it might not have read the rules.

Watered the polyanthus around the path and in the garden. Hubby's gone to get me some more compost and perhaps look at the spring bulbs if they're in yet.

After the worst of the storm had passed I transferred the remains of last year's home-made compost from here .....

..... to here (at the other end of the garden)

                    ..... using this

                    Compost-barrow.jpg

Beats going to the gym. Not that I've ever been to one.

Making compost is immensely satisfying. Got really excited today when the temperature in the centre of my active heap reached a record-breaking 68°C. Sad eh?

Not much will happen today I reckon, apart from deadheading all the trashed plants from yesterday's weather. The henryii lilies are completely wrecked, but I think there's some buds still to come. The Ligularia took a bashing too. I'll inspect the damage once it's stopped raining.
                        Maybe some shed work....

I have nothing to do in the garden. I brought 4 bags with garden waste to the tip last Thursday. I continueed tidying up the garden until Sunday and have now a bag filled with stuff for the green waste. The heaviest of it are the crab apples with around 5kg.

Optical illusion @Plantminded. It's mostly clover but as long as it's green I don't really mind what's in it.
