I think modern security cameras do pick up sound @Goldenlily26 and relay to a phone, but I'm pretty sure the range is only about 20 feet if that.
I recall having a conversation with my BIL about it, but it was a while ago. He's very "techie", I'm not. I don't have a smartphone, that fact drives him nuts .

Afternoon folks. Rainy day jobs today and I went out to buy some new pegs and a few bits and I bought an air fryer too. Couldn’t see the point/fuss before but it’s marvellous!

Take care all - particularly those in the path of the storm and those with life’s little annoyances going on.

Storm has passed me by which I am pleased about as I am quizzing tonight. Enjoy your evenings all and I'll catch up with you all in the morning. I do hope we hear something from @Obelix-Vendée. A little wish for her:

Good morning everyone. I am glad I put my hanging baskets away into the garage for safety last night. As for the quiz - we did as well as our cricket team playing India! Still enjoyed the evening though. I am going to attempt to make some parkin today as it is a request from one of the Sunday Tea/Coffee morning regulars. The recipe says it is best to make it several days before consumption as this helps to make it stickier. I will enjoy the challenge. I've noticed it is markedly cooler ths morning and I might have to put a warmer top on.
Round 22 of the toilet saga and I had a delivery this morning of a drain solvent. Fingers crossed!

Lovely and sunny here this morning. Yesterday was showery as forecast and quite blustery. The rain was welcome but a very light mizzle so not anything substantial, I doubt the waterbutt levels have increased very much.

OH is off down south to visit his Mum so I think I’ll get into the garden this morning. I’m not visiting as she is recovering from having had visitors for a fortnight - sil, bil and their 11 year old twins over from Singapore. OH can do any jobs which need doing and they can be completely Finnish with each other when I’m not there.

All of our immediate neighbours have cctv and security lights, it’s like living in a police state. It all started when there was a falling out over the access rights at the rear of our properties between two of the neighbours. One thought the others use was unreasonable, wanted evidence, and the alleged offenders then wanted evidence they were being watched and so on and so on. It all got very unpleasant. Thankfully the “trigger” neighbours have moved but unfortunately the cameras have remained. Our new next door neighbours has now installed cameras because “the other two cottages had them”. The neighbour on the other side has installed them because having put an access gate from his garden into our shared lane, hadn’t realised how dark it was and is now worried about burglars. They had already been living there for at least 10 years and no reported burglaries in his street or our lane?!

Hope everyone has a good day and @Liriodendron has come through Storm Florian safely and with power

Very much a none day. It mizzled and rained until mid-afternoon, then the sun came out and we had a lovely afternoon.
I put out the last of the towels to dry. End of my activity!
It is true about dogs not outliving their owners. A couple of years ago one of the venerable dog walkers passed away and her last wish was that if she predeceased her elderly, 15 yrs old, poor in health Jack Russell, the dog be put to sleep and cremated with herself. Some of the local dog owners were shocked but I thought it very appropriate. I have decided to gave Rob's ashes, also Poppy's when the time comes, put in my coffin. I have spoken to 4 members of my family who have agreed to carry out my wishes regarding my ashes. I have asked for them to be divided into 4, my son willtake his 1/4 back to Canada to scatter them by the river where

                    Good morning all.

It will be another hot sunny day here.

OH's daughter is in Scotland with her OH and 2 children in a campervan. They were in Oban 2 or 3 days ago but are travelling about. I hope they are OK. She hasn't replied to the WhatsApp that OH sent yesterday.

I watered and weeded the Donkey Paddock Fence bed where the clematis are yesterday morning before it got too hot. Cleaned the dining room in the afternoon and read my book.

Going to the DIY place and the SM this morning.

                      Apologies! Pressed a button accidentally.
My son can scatter his portion of my ashes along the river in the Rockies, where I loved walking their dog whose ashes they scattered there when she died, my nephew is going to take his 1/4 back to Guernsey where I grew up and my family are buried, he puts wreaths on the family graves each Christmas I discovered, my niece will put her 1/4 on my sisters grave, my daughter can choose somewhere beautiful in Cornwall where she will feel comfortable scattering her portion.
It sounds macabre but I have discovered through the loss of my sister and the forthcoming demise of my ex. just how much it can mean to family members to be involved and contribute in the arrangements. When my daughter asked me where I would like my ashes to be scattered I couldn't decide and came up with the idea of sharing them amongst places which meant something to me. It is not an easy conversation to have but stops arguments that can and do develop at these times.

                        Good morning to you all!

Sunny but windy this morning and going to be hot. So I have done many bits and pieces and am back home now.

Very sensible @Goldenlily26 The French are very good at arranging their final wishes, Wills etc. and most have grave stone sites and the granite in place for their demise - even engraved. Makes it so much easier and less of a financial burden for the family.

Hope you hear from your daughter @Busy-Lizzie I hope they are affected by the storm. Communication may be difficult.

A friend gave me some of her kefir .plant so I made a litre of it and it is now cooling in the fridge. I have started another litre with ginger and a sprig of mint. Good gut material!!

My levain is bubbling, so I will add the water and flour to make the loaf. It rises quickly in this weather even though it is in a cool(ish) spot.

I fear the news may not be that good for @Obelix-Vendée - otherwise she is up to her neck in medication !!

I wish you all a pleasant Tuesday.

Morning. It's a case of 'the best laid plans' today.
We'd hoped to go to the van this afternoon, ready for our guest tomorrow, but OH's surgery has scuppered that one, by cocking up a prescription (they do this frequently, so we shouldn't be surprised), which has to be collected late this afternoon.
But first, the chiropodist. I always enjoy hearing about her (very exotic) travels.
I now have everything I need for renewing my passport and driver's licence. A job for next week.
@Goldenlily26 good that your family is so involved in planning these things.
I, too, am thinking the news may not be good from @Obelix-Vendée

Hello everyone and thank you for your support.

We no longer have a Visitor. He tested positive for FIV which meant his eye problems had him almost blind and his chest wound would never heal so he was put to sleep. We were out for the day so I asked to have his results late afternoon and then had to go and collect him and bury him. We spent Saturday giving our bedroom and shower room a deep clean before we could let our pair back in there.

As you can imagine there has been deep sorrow for us all. He was becoming quite beautiful thanks to all the brushing and had started to chat and come and ask for cuddles and head rubs so there is also some anger that whoever he'd belonged to hadn't cared for him enough to neuter and ID him or see when was injured and needed help. Some despiar too as there are numerous feral cats round here thanks to the farm cats who are left to their own devices and whose kittens go on to live wild. Who knows how many of them have FIV and will suffer as well as passing it on?

                                Good afternoon,

That’s very sad news @Obelix-Vendée. I think we were all hoping for a positive outcome.
You can take some comfort, however, from knowing that his final weeks were spent being loved and cared for by you and your OH.
I can understand your anger that whoever had him before neither cared for him nor helped him. Thank goodness he found you.
