    Good morning to you all!!

Yes @Busy-Lizzie we are in for another hot spell - Think you are hotter than I am - I see Toulouse is up for 36°C this afternoon to our 29°C. Next week is going to be in the mid 30s for most of us. The Southern Hemisphere is having a particularly cold winter - we often follow so be ready with cold weather gear and enjoy the warm weather!! Any news from @floralies?

That's a bit of a fright @Butterfly6 My new shower is a walk-in job. I must add that I had a big stomach flutter earlier this year when I moved here. I was painting the doors and in the bathroom. I had of course, removed the handles and opened the window. Yes. Click! Oh no!! My stomach came up to my throat - the phone was in the kitchen charging!! What to do? Luckily the handles were just behind me on the bathroom countertop and I was able to open the door!! Set the old ticker off for another 6 months!!

    Have a pleasant day everyone.

It was a shock, the handle came off with quite a bang. I wondered what had happened for a moment :ouch1:

I share your pain @Obelix-Vendée. OH has been googling already this morning and we suspect we will struggle to find just a door. Unfortunately insurance isn’t an option as it’s probably just wear and tear.

We haven’t watched Sewing Bee yet. Will catch up on iplayer tonight. Off to orthoptics shortly, I’m hoping they will sign some forms so I can reapply for my licence. After that we are going to try and remove the offending shower door. I might see if we can use a shower curtain as a temporary fix. If we have to have a new shower cubicle, I’m tempted to go all in and replace the tiling as well. I’ve never liked it and it’s dreadful to keep clean. They are large stone tiles, marble looking but slightly rough.

Forgot to say @Liriodendron I’m glad you survived the storm unscathed and your power is back on. Lovely photo, have the chooks left you any eggs?

Oh Obelix, how heart breaking for you both. At least he had some love, care and comfort before going to "pussy cat heaven". At least he didn't die in agony and alone. We were all rooting for him. I am so sorry.

We were lucky enough to be able to install a door free walk in shower (sacrificed an adjoining cupboard and removed the wall between) I hate shower curtains, and also hate cleaning shower doors, we have very hard water here. You can probably get a temporary spring loaded curtain rail to use while you get sorted, @Butterfly6.
What a wonderful view from your window, @Liriodendron! Quite jealous, I thought our rabbits and green woodpeckers were fun, but wee highland coos and pretty chickens are another level!
A quiet day planned, green bin collection due, always like to peek out to see the lorry arrive!

@Tui34 31C is forecast for this afternoon, though it's only 15° now. Toulouse is over 3hrs from here, south east.

Ho hum, thank you again, Mr Pharmacy, for cocking up yesterday's prescription again, so that it has to be collected after 2 this afternoon, resulting in me having to cancel the visit to the caravan by our V.I.P. who, thankfully, was most gracious about it. We will rearrange!
(Our V.I.P. is none other than our very own @Ladybird4)
However, these new meds are doing wonders for hub's health, so it's a question of needs must...
Goodness, @Butterfly6, what a shock. Glass slivers in feet can be so small and painful.
I'm afraid I had to google FIV, @Obelix-Vendée. Poor moglet, but he was blessed to have found you.
What a wonderful view you have there @Liriodendron
                  Keep cool @Tui34 @Busy-Lizzie and @Obelix-Vendée

I did quite a few bits and pieces around the garden and watched the 100 Cricket, women's and men's, very exciting, then Sewing Bee. Some excellent work as well as rubbish. Agree, the right one went. Some of the ideas were really inventive, and a charming guest judge. Likewise, I have never heard of him.
I almost forgot my Morrisons delivery at 9.00pm. A lovely young deliveryman, so tall! Must be 7ft. He really had to stoop to get inside my cottage without bumping his head; the ceilings are so low!

Oh, Butterfly, how scary your episode in the shower must have been! It is so difficult to see small shards of glass in water. They can be very difficult to remove if embedded in feet etc. It always surprises me how far small pieces of glass can travel when I drop something on the stone floor in my kitchen, several feet. It is a job to know what to do first in situations like that. Like you, I would need to put my glasses on first. A whole new shower sounds expensive but maybe in the long run safer.
I think it is time we all had a break from "incidents" and had some relaxing quiet time.
My son has already been out in the mountains cycling with a long standing friend, had a good chat with him and visited some other friends who are building a large extended decking onto their house. They had made a bad start as they had put up half of it before discovering it wouldn't fit onto their existing deck, the steps didn't match, so had to dismantle, adjust and
rebuild. It will have done my son a lot of good to be back in familiar surroundings among
                    friends.
My son in law has just left after coming to take my car for a spin after putting it on trickle charge overnight. He has also fitted the replacement security light by my front door. He is such a lovely man, always so helpful and supportive. He has taken some dead electrical equipment away as he has a time slot booked at the local recycling centre. No wonder people fly tip. You had to book a time slot instead of just turning up. It helped with what could be horrendous queues but no one liked having to book in advance.

I hope everyone has a quiet relaxing rest of the day. No more dramas.

Gosh @Penny_Forthem, I feel as if I have been promoted! We will definitely rearrange. In a way, it has worked for me as, having tried everything suggested to me, the toilet problem refuses to sort itself. I contacted my insurance company and there is an engineer coming out this afternoon sometime - between 12:00 and 18:00. I am hoping it will be a quick remedy.
I hope that this will be my last incident for a while.
@Goldenlily26 I thoroughly enjoyed the One Hundred too. Manchester are playing today.
I am so pleased that I do not have to queue at my recycling centre.

Hello everyone! I'm still here @Tui34 ! I am still looking in to see what you are all up to. We are having ups and downs like many of you. We had a good trip over to the UK earlier in the year, it was my sister's 80th birthday celebrations, also caught up with other friends and family. Our house was struck by lightening a couple of months ago, damage to an outside wall and electrical stuff fried! We are still waiting on the insurance. OH is getting over a bad back and I'm waiting for 'imagery' on a painful shoulder! I am about to do a rain dance, no noticeable rainfall since May.
OH has just informed me that he is going to try and get a bird out of our chimney above the wood burner which hasn't been cleaned out yet, i can just see the mess now, update later!

Greetings all. OH and I have been out weeding my new bed this am. Slow going as it is riddled with field bindweed which must have been lurking, dormant, under the old, dried out grass. PITA and will take years of constant vigilance to keep down. Can't mulch against the other weeds - fat hen, speedwell, usual suspects - till I've done more planting and we've had some serious rain. We might get 0.4mm on Monday. Whoopee!

Pharmacy failures seem to be a PITA for more than just you @Penny_Forthem but at least the new meds seem to be good. Long may that continue.

Sewing Bee - if anyone's interested, I get a weekly email from Sewdirect that gives pattern inspirations and sometimes techniques and other info. Some really good Korean inspired patterns this week. PM me if you want to know more.

@Butterfly6 our new shower downstairs is a walk-in but the upstairs bathroom shower is a cabin with a curved side and, as the ceiling slopes, we had a height restriction. It was supported by a wall the previous owners built but didn't quite get vertical and I'm still pondering how best to fill the gap and make it look better. It's an odd mayout altogether as the window is over the bath so that room always needs lights.

Evening folks. I’ve been busy with work and family stuff but have been peeping in.

Sorry to hear the sad news @Obelix-Vendée - you are a true animal lover and kind hearted person.

A few dramas then with showers, loos, prescriptions and the lightning damage! I hope everything is remedied swiftly for all.

A quiet evening planned for me - I have gardening programmes to catch up on!

Hello all - nice to see you @floralies. Pleased to say that all is now sorted on the toilet front. The engineer arrived at about 15:00 and it took him about 10 minutes in total to sort the problem. As I had partly worked out, it was not a problem with the toilet itself, but with the drain outside. He used a large drill bit to make a hole in the waste pipe on the outside wall. Then he pushed a high pressure hose down into the hole (it seemed to go on for metres) and in about 10 seconds all was clear. He got me to flush the toilet again and it was back to normal. I was extremely relieved. He then capped the hole he had drilled and that was it.

                                What’s relief for you @Ladybird4 . Hello @floralies

We spent a good part of the day wrestling with the shower door which did not want to come off. We won in the end and after a quick trip to Ikea we now have a newly installed telescopic shower rail and curtain. That will do for now. We can’t get a replacement door, in fact they don’t seem to make any of that style now. Having had my experience I can understand why. Even if we could, I think I would always feel nervous when opening it. The handle was fastened directly onto the glass and always required quite a tug to open.

Have watched and enjoyed Sewing Bee now catching up on Fake or Fortune. I was hoping we would find a lost masterpiece in our loft when we upped the insulation. Unfortunately we only found an old wasp nest. A beautiful piece of origami art but not quite a Picasso.

Have an enjoyable evening everyone x
