Essential oils do seem to put them off. I sprinkle a few drops of neat lavender, mint, or lemon when I can smell urine or get "deposits" in the garden or by the garage. It's a fairly inexpensive option as a bottle lasts a while and every few days, or after rain, seems sufficient.

Hmmm, another pile of poo was there this morning. Trying another recommendation for the next few nights - hot chillies, garlic and cayenne pepper blended up and mixed with water, sprayed around the area. It'd deter me, that's for sure. But as for the foxes, we shall see. I have some 'tea tree' essential oil I could try if the chilli mix fails.

Went on a safari in South Africa not so long back - wishing now I'd taken an extra suitcase and filled it up with lion poo! I wonder what customs would have said at Heathrow... it's not on the 'banned list', at least!

That said, 25% of Amazon reviews of 'Silent Roar' say something like this: "Absolutely does not work. Sprinkled it everywhere and the cats just poo’d (sic) right on top of it".... "... now the cat seems to like visiting even more !! Perhaps it thinks it’s a lion "

Unless your garden is no more than about a metre square, it is somewhat difficult to spray any deterrent which would prove useful as the cat will simply change it's route.
My garden is walled all the way round with 1 tall side gate. However, I also have some large trees on the boundaries and have 1 persistent cat visitor - day and night. Neighbours either side have dogs and I don't know who the cat belongs to. The only real solution is down to those who let their pets roam at will but that remains wishful thinking on our part.

The problem is confined to one small area, not too hard to spray. Hopefully that will put off the fox(es) and they'll find somewhere else to go (outside my garden perimeter, hopefully).
