Good morning (just) to you all!!

    Waiting for photos from @Penny_Forthem

It's been cool and windy. Hot and sunny now it is overcast and windy and the rain hasn't descended yet.

I got everyone into bed yesterday evening with a dribble of water. Now to keep the predators away. Cabbage white - they'll be around but it'll be the snails. After this drought some hard rain; they will come out and be famished!! Sorry to have put down some anti pellets!! Here is a photo. The lettuces are netted - I will fish the big netting out this weekend when my friend comes.

tempImagejLtm5x.png So why is it coming out upside down? I have even edited it and rotated it just in case. Sorry, I think a bit of yoga is on the menu today!! Enjoy the day.

Oh @lizzie27 I can understand your stress about the drainage having gone through something similar with my toilet the other week. I do hope that a solution is found for you soon. Come on here and sound off - you know we are all rooting for you.
Had a lovely meet up with sis and the gang and the meal was lovely - just ordinary pub grub but cooked to perfection and presented beautifully.
p.s. @Tui34 I'm not sure my yoga skills are up to it but understood the picture fairly well.

Wonderful news, @Penny_Forthem! I’m very jealous. Looking forward to a photo when he is settled in. Maybe his name was originally spelt Djinn?

                    Good morning all.

@Ladybird4 has a problem with her Internet but hopefully it will be repaired by late morning. She asked me to let you know.

That is such good news, @Penny_Forthem. What a sweet looking dog he is.

Beautiful dog @Penny_Forthem, hope you all had a good night and that he settles in well.

Having leapt out of bed at nearly eight, the builders still haven't arrived. I do hate it when they don't turn up or even text me. Here's pics of the the drain and my courtyard - such a mess!

                        Sorry to moan, wrong thread!

My sister's staying for a few days so we had a good long natter yesterday evening. She's having a lie in as she's been looking after her 3 grandkids (4yr old twins and 8yr old) for a week so is pretty exhausted. I wouldn't/couldn't have done it!

                          A non day.
Still no rain. Cooler, overcast, dry.
I am going to have a heart monitor fitted this lunchtime. I have to send it back to them the following day. Seems like a waste of time but we shall see.
I am impatient to feel better and make a start on clearing up the debris left from the bramble strimming.
Lovely news. My son and daughter-in-law are coming back to the UK in Sept. for a celebration of the life of my ex. in his hometown and scattering of his ashes down here near where my daughter lives. The cremation of my daughter-in-law's birth father is also going to be held while they are here so they will be able to attend that as well.
They have several days to spend here, which will be lovely, a new beginning for us all, before they go to New Zealand in the New Year for an adventure trip to visit their daughter who is nursing there. They are using a camper van to travel, visit friends, and explore etc.

As the wind has brought down a lot of my apples I am mulling over digging out my juicer to make some apple juice and/or Scrumpy, now the apples are ripe, just. The last batch of cider I made was lovely, I scrounged a mixture of apples from friends and used a champagne yeast. It is always best made from a mix of apple varieties but beggars cannot be choosers. None of my friends are any longer with us so I will have to make do with what I have if I decide to go with it
                          .
Lizzie I hope you get your tree root problem sorted. What a nightmare. It is always the way, one job always turns into 6 before you can make a start on job 1, then six more new jobs created by number one job.

Penny, what a lovely looking dog. I hope you are very happy together for a long, long time.I had 7 happy, unpredictable, wonderful years with Rob. He was always getting into scrapes so life was never dull.

Morning. Gin has settled in very well already; apart from a bark and toilet break in the night, he slept though with the others in the kitchen. He's a biddable boy, no food squabbles (he does need to lose a bit of weight!) and like all spaniels, loves a ball!
Bit of confusion at times over Gin and Bryn!
Meeting my cousins for lunch today; could perhaps have done with a 'no driving day', but it was arranged weeks ago.

I hope your builders turn up @lizzie27, maddening when they don't get in touch. I'm sure your courtyard will look nice again in the end.

Great news about your son and his wife coming @Goldenlily26.

I painted 2 walls in the downstairs loo yesterday. It's all a bit tricky because the hot water tank and lots of pipes are in there, also shelves full of loo air spray and Harpic and cleaning stuff like Ajax, vinegar for limescale, floor wash, teak furniture cleaner etc which had to be taken out. I'll do the other two walls today, hopefully, one involves painting around the window. The walls looked awful because when we had that flood the plaster board got wet then it went mouldy. I treated the mould and now it and the utility room and study have dried out. The paint is covering well, special bathroom paint, but some may need touching up.

Our forecast thunderstorms still haven't arrived, but at least it's cooler. Forecast says they are coming this afternoon.
