But then I didn't know what the flowers looked like on this one, just it's not what I thought.

No, it just seems to stay as one tuber, I grew it from seed a few years ago and its still only one tuber that get slightly bigger each year.

@pete is that Eucomis all one bulb or more than one ? My bulb has two 'stems' on it this year and I'm wondering if it will get more stems one day.

It started as one, but has increased over the last few years, I had another pot the same but I must have overwatered it during the spring as half of it has rotted off.

              Geranium urbanum
(Herb Robert) - When I look closely at its charming little flowers I feel really guilty for constantly weeding it out of our garden.

The geranium is nicest ive found when very drought stressed as its leaves go intense red, like nothing else.

I leave the Geranium urbanum in odd corners of my garden @LunarSea, I think it's very pretty.

Oh absolutely - the one I photographed is in a patch growing along the bottom of some steps and will remain undisturbed. I only remove the ones in the flower beds and tubs.

Saw that first hand today when visiting an elderly relative in her care-home. It had taken up residence in a totally neglected raised bed in which most of the things were dead. Ironically I ended up rescuing it when I found some water.

I removed a couple of flagging Dahlias yesterday and replaced them with some Molinias (M. caerulea 'Heidebraut') and a Salvia gregii 'Radio Red'. Looks a bit more cheerful!

I recently planted out my Acer Orangeola, and it's getting more of it's greener summer colour. I always look forward to the lovely autumn colouring it has though.

There is no doubt that gardens in our area including Cotswold and Somerset are looking very sad and heartbreaking. I myself struggled to find the energy for taking pictures. I was more thinking about opening a thread "what is not looking good August 2025".
Staying alive is this year's target, and I adore and appreciate every plant and tree that fights this drought.

This morning, I noticed that the Cosmos plants get more flowers. The Helenium and Echinacea to the left are almost over respectively have given up.

Helenium Helena Red. This is the plant I had taken from the other bed (next to the Cosmos) and replanted it the new bed opposite last February.

                                20250820ourgarden_03.jpg

I grow Echinacea from seeds for many years now. I love them and so reliable in droughts.

                                20250820ourgarden_04.jpg

This is the Hardy Geranium taken from my old bed on the north side and planted into my "Japanese" bed in March.

                                20250820ourgarden_06.jpg

                                The Gaura grows like crazy.

The Scarbiosa is also in its last legs.

                                20250820ourgarden_08.jpg

I bought the Cosmos plants at the farm shop in Cirencester.

                                20250820ourgarden_09.jpg

I had bought 2 Hardy Geraniums ('mixed collection') at Waitrose last year and I'm so pleased with them. A real ground cover. I wish I had more of them. No fuss about drought, they keep going.

                                20250820ourgarden_10.jpg

Suddenly, I had many seedlings from what looked like the same plant. I took a few and these have survived the way from the soil into the pot. Cerinthe :)

                                20250820ourgarden_11.jpg

My Gladioli have hardly developed this year. I finally decided to water them.
