Hi. I have a pot with a Sansevieria in, about 6 years I've had it. One of the shoots looks to be turning yellow. But the other is dark green and looks fairly healthy.

I've grown cacti and succulents for years but this is the first Sansevieria I've had. Not sure if it just needs feeding? But part of it looks fine. Anyone who knows about them any advice please?

    Thank you

Mine went down hill 4 - 5 months ago, repotted it into fresh compost with some grit and slow release fertiliser and it's fine at the moment.

I've never grown the modern varieties just the taller ones, I do find often the older plant starts to look a bit less attractive as it forms newer shoots from under ground.

I usually take of the old stuff from time to time and repot leaving just the younger shoots.

I never thought about its variety. After a quick Google I've never realised just how dwarf it is! I bought it as an offshoot on eBay all those years ago. Is there any idea what kind it might be?

It looks similar (but smaller) to mine - which is called something like moonshine
It's about 6 yrs old now and was the same size as yours when I got it

Wow! That's so big in comparison. I see what you mean, the leaf markings are similar. Does the one of yours get a lot of sun?

No, it gets no sun at all, it's a north-facing window - only the top half gets any light at all as the lower 1/2 of the plant is against the worktop splashback.
It gets a little rainwater about once every 2-3 weeks in summer (and a very dilute feed every other watering) and less rainwater and no feed in the darker months - it seems happy enough.

I think it's maybe the feed - this one of mine won't have been fed at all in those 6 years. I'm going to put a dilute fertilizer on with the next water and see what happens. Your plant looks so healthy.

They only need a little - so use 1/2 the suggested dose with rainwater if you have any.
I use Phostrogen or Miracle Gro

Ps just found the name - Black Moon

Sansevieria had a feed. One is still looking a bit chlorotic. But.... New shoot :) just noticed this morning so it'll be nice to have the pot a bit more full

These plants are usually pretty much bomb proof. Mine's on a north facing windowsill. I rarely water it because I read that they pretty much need to dry out between watering. And I feed it once every couple of months. It's thriving and pushes new pups up every year.

It takes the least care of any plant I've ever had. I would repot it but I also heard they prefer to be pot bound.

That one is really nice! I like the grey pot too.
