    Good morning to you all!!

We have autumn weather down here @Busy-Lizzie with cooler nights (hurray) and mornings and beautiful still sunny days. It is about 23°C now - my perfect weather!! I don't have to race out before breakfast now - a pleasant ride this morning. Jeans, t-shirt and a light hoodie.

Ophthalmologist tomorrow morning - so an early start and my hip surgeon on Friday for an after sales service. X-rays first - so another early start and a morning shot to pieces!!

I hope your day is going well and the rest will go even better!!

Had a busy couple of days. Daughter has been here since Saturday and her husband joined us yesterday. Much eating and drinking has been taking place, plus avoiding the frequent and torrential rain showers. We have had the central heating on for the past couple of days, and I’ve certainly slept very soundly. The ‘kids’ have gone off today to visit some local NT places, so I’ve paid some bills and managed two hours in the garden. I’ve cleared the paths and cut back some overgrown plants alongside. Managed to nearly fill the green bins, so they are ready for emptying tomorrow. OH has been fitting some door thresholds, having bought the wrong ones initially, he ran out of time to fit them before the visitors arrived. He has now caught up!
Looks like everyone has been very busy. Can’t believe it’s September.

I haven't been busy @Ergates! All I've done is change the bedding and dust the bedroom. I've watched GW and Escape to the Country and played Jigsaws on my laptop. Did have a stroll around the garden. The rain is encouraging the moles and the weeds but my back is still a bit fragile and it has drizzled. Maybe some dead heading tomorrow.

@lizzie27 we only have the 10.5 duvet in the middle of winter. I've put the 4 tog one on the bed.

Afternoon all. The drizzle has sent me inside...

I'm interested in your juicing experience, @Goldenlily26 . We've been toying with the idea of getting a fruit press now we've got rather a surfeit of apples; I don't mind leaving quite a lot for the wildlife, but I don't want the undamaged ones to go to waste, once I've filled the freezer with apple dishes (and the pantry with apple chutney).

I think you're very wise to take things slowly with your fragile back, @Busy-Lizzie . It would be very frustrating to upset it again - but so tempting to get on with what needs doing. Fingers crossed you'll be able to carry on as normal soon.

We have the 4 tog duvet on too, but keep it on all the year round. OH stays hot at night, but I don't, so I have a backup blanket and bedsocks on my side of the bed. And a hot water bottle in winter... but the temperature in the bedroom doesn't drop a lot at night, because of the insulation. Visitors from "normal" houses tend to find our bedrooms too hot.

Checkup this morning at the dentist, but only a scrape & polish required, thankfully. And early this afternoon I finished summer pruning the apples, did a bit of general tidying, and turned the compost heap a bit, in an attempt to stop it turning into silage. Think it's time for some knitting now...

            Afternoon all.

Busy day here as Dad’s heart check up in hospital today so that’s most of the day out as not local. All good though. I’m just having a tea and chill before it will be time to think about making food (homemade special fried rice).

Feels quite Autumnal today and that will only be enhanced by Bake Off later as that always reminds me of the nights drawing in, comfort TV with comfort food.

I hope everyone is doing ok.

This little corner of North east Wales has seen hardly any rain. Nothing to do any more than wet a baby's head.
I may have said before, but we have separate bed coverings. Me, a 4.5 tog duvet all year. Him, a hotch potch of sheets, blankets and duvets to throw on in any possible combination. Drives me nuts!
              Never a tidy bedroom.
We've done a resupply to the van of essential basics (loo roll, shower gel etc.) and come back the scenic route. Schools are back tomorrow.

Good evening all. Congratulations to your grandson on getting himself a job @Goldenlily26. Fingers crossed it doesn't mean a house move. Good news that the back continues to improve @Busy-Lizzie but don't overdo things and have a setback. Hope all goes well at the opthalmologist's tomorrow @Tui34. Is it just a regular check up? I really need to make an appointment to have my eyes tested too. Pleased to read that your Dad's heart check up went well @AuntyRach.
I got my surprise colchicums planted into one of the tall troughs I am slowly introducing into my garden to avoid constant bending. The corms are really enormous. Hoping for a decent display. Got a lot of weeding and some washing done and managed to get that dry before the rain started this afternoon.
My Sis and BIL are on their way to their place in France and they did manage to catch up with the Ozzies before leaving which was good news today. It would have been so much easier if they had given us a little more advanced warning of their trip! The rain didn't last too long but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it didn't rain again in the night. I am signing out now, wishing everyone a good night. See you all tomorrow.

Good morning everyone. I thoroughly enjoyed Sewing Bee last night I have already picked my favourite to win the competition - one I picked some weeks ago. I am just smiling at an article on the BBC Breakfast programme about cash and whether people carry cash around in wallets or purses any more. I am one who could not go out anywhere without having cash on me. I never use my phone as a means of paying for anything so I guess I must be showing my age!
I should have added that I do use my debit card as many shops now refuse cash. Still love to have cash on me though.

                      Good morning all.

I forgot to record Sewing Bee as I thought I had clicked on "record series" but it failed last week. I've found another time when it's on to record the missing episodes.

Should be some sunshine and quite warm today. We've had some sun, now cloudy.

We are thinking of going to lunch at an old watermill restaurant that breeds it's own trout, if it's warm enough to sit outside. Been there before.

First I must hang the washed bedding on the line and do some dead heading.

Busy day for us - taking Gin to the vet for a routine checkup, dropping a b'day present off, picking damsons (weather permitting) and then a hair cut for OH.
I'll have very few green tomatoes this year, so no green tom chutney to make.

Yesterday was a non day. I was in my fluffy dressing gown until lunchtime when I stirred myself to get dressed. I did a mountain of washing up and that was it. The kitchen is slightly tidier, not a lot, but tidier.
I have lit the fire in the log burner the last couple of days it has felt so chilly. We are now having a surfeit of rain and wind. It is so dark I need the light on, and it is raining almost constantly.
I do not enjoy this changeover of seasons.
I found part of my neighbour's newly erected downpipe, from her new porch, in my garden, no idea if the wind blew it down or if the chickens tried to use it as perch.
I found my electric juicer in a charity shop for £12.00. My son in law has a "proper" fruit press like a barrel, with a big winder handle on the top, etc. Mine is fast, efficient and apart from feeding it apples, needs very little effort on my part. They are a bit of a nightmare to wash, lots of sections and nooks and crannies to clean but a small price to pay for freshly squeezed apple juice, which is delicious.
I feel as if I had a good nights sleep and most of my aching back and stiff joints have disappeared, until I find something else to do to get them going again. I watched the Bake Off and Sewing Bee. Kit has done so well, he has an amazing creative mind, I am sure he will be head hunted for theatrical design or similar. It was good the top garment was shared. The right person went last night.

As we are predicted awful weather for a few days, hopefully everyone with aches and pains will be able to rest up and get ready for the big autumn garden clear up.

                            Good morning all,

We have had rain in the night and now it’s that fine misty type of rain that drenches you. The gardens will be loving it. It looks a very autumnal sort of morning today, even though equinox autumn isn’t until the 22nd Sep this year.

I agree with you @Ladybird4, I like to have some cash - (actually my hairdresser only takes cash, not card), - on me and also don’t use my phone to pay for things - that’s a step too far for me. I’d be constantly worrying that my phone might get snatched.

I hope Gin passes his medical check up with flying colours @Penny_Forthem.

Greetings. We've had visitors, a 2nd cousin who searched for me on FB after my mum died almost 5 years ago. She and her OH have an apartment in Les Arcs and are mad keen skiers, even now, and like to go home the long way round so they can see more of France.

They only came for 2 nights and we took them to La Rochelle where, as here, the predicted 5.8cms of rain morphed into just 5mm and most of that whilst we were enjoing lunch in a French restaurant with a Thai lady chef so some interesting French, fusion and Thai dishes.

They were suppsoed to leave at 10 am to head for ST Malo then Honfleur then Calais over the next couple of days but didn't surface till 10:30 and were then seduced by an offer of bacon, egg and beans and, being inveterate chatters, didn't leave till 12:30.

It's grey and blowy today with occasional blue bits. Comfy temperatures and cooler nights so we've added a patchwork quilt to the duvet cover we've been sleeping under for months. Set to go to low teens at night over the next 10 days so may fish out the 4.5 tog duvet to swap for the patchwork quilt.

Washing to do and maybe some gardening if the showers don't come.

Never see fresh trout here @Busy-Lizzie which is a real shame. Nor other freshwater fish come to think of it. It's all sea fish and shellfish tho last week's special offer prawns came from Equador so I declined.

Haven't seen Bake Off or Sewing Bee yet but will catch up this evening after dinner.

Stay safe and well everyone and enjoy the changing season. Our gardens need the rain and the end of being fried.
