I had a broken night too @Ladybird4 but not thanks to felines. There was a very bright moon and, given the clear skies today despite a forecast of clouds, we might get to see the eclipse tho it will be low on the hroizon here.

I can remember all sorts of umbrage all over at boundary changes and still prefer the old county names as they have historical relevance and resonance. My mother, a dreadful snob, was not happy when Warrington became her postcode so when it also became Cheshire she was dismayed, to sy the least, even tho she crossed the bridge to shop there every Saturday. The old market was wonderful with its cast iron frame and glass walls and roof and there were plenty of other good shops too including a wonderful pork butcher. All demolished now and the new market lost a lot of stall holders and its soul.

@Goldenlily26 I have been known to use the pressure washer on my polytunnel, inside and out, but I don't suppose that would be OK on a proper conservatory.

This weekend is the last for my remaining tomato plants. Any ripe ones will be picked today and the rest, green or ripe, will be picked on Wednesday and the plants pulled up. i'm planning to keep one polutunnel bed clear for winter hen baths and the other will have the sweet potatoes and chillies in the soil and the 3 citrus pots.

Hotter than expected here so not a lot doing apart from some light rose pruning and dead heading and a few plants to pot on.

Happy Sunday, whatever you're doing, especially things like harvest festivals.

Pouring with rain, but I have managed to take all 3 dogs, one at a time.
We had visitors this morning; the people we met at the party 2 weeks ago. They are spaniel owners, so we had a lot in common.
She brought slabs of very fine walnut and fruit cake. I knew she was bringing cake and had said to OH, with a groan, 'I bet it's walnut!'.
It was actually delicious and contrary to my expectations, I loved it.
We have been invited to theirs at some point in the future. We got on very well.

Just further story about the Grooms Mother. About 14 years ago went to another wedding in California, up in Malibu this time. Stayed at a regular hotel. But, I am in the hallway walking somewhere, and I heard this screaming crying from the grooms mother (she has a distinctive voice). And she's running down the hall with this screaming crying noise. I find out that she is so upset because the bride's brides' maids (bride not related) they did not include her to get their hair done. Thank goodness she is on the West coast. And then ----it continues----the groom of the wedding is her step son, he did not want to dance with her,, he only wanted to save the special mother /son dance with his actual mother. But she got all bent out of shape over that one. Nuts.

will be so nice to spend Thanksgiving with my cousins, who are joyful. and no drama.

          Evening folks.

Family visiting today then a quiet early evening before food - MIL’s homemade quiche (always delicious). Not sure whether to train myself for back-to-work early starts or just enjoy another couple of days off with no alarm.

Full moon tonight, so hope it stays clear (50:50) as I do love to see it.

I Hope everyone has had a good day and has a restful night.

Hello all. I, too, am hoping to glimpse the blood moon tonight but I'm not holding my breath @Ergates. I love trying to catch all the celestial events if I can. I wasn'table to get any gardening done today as it has heaved it down all day. I have been knitting the leaves for the 6 posies I am preparing for tea/coffee mornings and whilst knitting I have had the womens' Rugby World Cup matches on. Planning an early night tonight after my rude awakening this morning. I'll say goodnight now and catch up with all your news tomorrow.
@redstar you must be so pleased that there is such a distance between you and the rather odd Groom's mother.

No blood moon for us here, too many hills. The moon has only just started peeking over our ‘horizon’ after 9pm. Managed to turn around the laundry from the last guests, and the airing cupboard is full of tumble dried sheets and towels, the bathroom has been cleaned, and almost ready for Tuesday. I was planning an early night, but it’s already gone 10am. I think a quick Codeword and a Sudoku to unwind, then lights out. OH is watching a tank restoration channel he enjoys. One of the highlights of the show is appearances by the engineers dog! It is usually hanging around watching the proceedings, and the owner has confessed that he gets complaints if the dog doesn’t appear in the blog!
Hope everyone ready for the week ahead, and it goes well.

Good morning all. I didn't see the moon at all last night but the clouds were impressive! Thanks for the picture @Penny_Forthem. I remember taking my Mum up Moel Famau to watch a solar eclipse - eyes protected with necessary glasses. It was actually a lovely occasion as loads of people were there and the atmosphere was so friendly. We were even besieged by friendly sheep who shared our sandwiches. The eclipse was stunning as the land darkened and the birds went silent. It was quite magical.

                        Good morning all.

Cloudy here. I don't know why Meteo France bothers with our weather forecast. Wrong again. No thunderstorms, no rain. I saw the moon from the loo window in the night but clouds were passing over it.

I'm going to a Garden Club, vegetable group, meeting this afternoon. There will be cake.

Tomorrow afternoon I'm hosting the Rose Group and on Thursday there is the Garden Club meeting with a bring and share lunch. I wish they wouldn't have them all in the same week.

I made a big mess in the kitchen making veg. soup and apple juice, also mushroom and tomato sauce with pasta for dinner.
Today has to be an even bigger clean up.
I didn't see the eclipse, too much cloud, though when I went to bed the sky was clear with a lovely bright moon. It was just on midnight when I went upstairs and could hear someone using an electric power tool of some kind! I think it was a saw. Thoughtless.
It is a beautiful morning, forecast not good for later in the week.
It is days like today when I wish I could leap about catching up on jobs. Perfect weather and no appointments. So many jobs to do.

Good morning. Possum and I kept an eye on the eclipse's progress and saw it at the same stage as @Penny_Forthem's photo but then the clouds rolled in so no more viewing.

Sounds like a busy but enjoyable week for you @Busy-Lizzie. Our garden club activities are always on Sundays and sometimes we can get 3 or 4 in a row which becomes difficult to manage.

Agree about France Météo: none of the promised storms, downpours and even dribbles have materialised in the last 10 days and they've just changed the forecast for the next 10 days to deliver less than 2 cms of rain after saying it would be 8 just yesterday.

I have a patch committee lunch today then some shopping for bits and pieces we'll need for the Forum this coming weekend and the AGM on Monday next. OH is leaving soon to spend 3 days up near St Malo for inter club golf competitions so I shall play in my own way at home.

                                After yesterday's downpour, it's a lovely day.
We were quite unprepared for the eclipse, but we hadn't pulled the blinds up, thankfully. I sit on the seat facing west, so it was OH who noticed it. We caught a good 90% at least very clearly.
I remember a sun eclipse in about 1995 and another in 2000.
                                Home later.
Family are kayaking after school, so not coming to us.
