Good morning from the top of a breezy Welsh hill.
Thank you all for your comments on Gin. We're finding out things every day now. We're convinced he's been 'scent trained' , so I'm going to see if there are any refresher courses locally.
Another who doesn't like Alison H (or Noel F) or shouty ones.
I did like Zander and Richard O, but when he left, I stopped watching.
The new presenters of Masterchef look suitably non shouty.
Must get ready for a doggy run before shopping.

          Very joyful posies @Ladybird4!

Bit of a non morning here as well, we had our usual walk, just missing another rain shower and I then caught the bus to the local hospital to collect more hearing aid batteries. The new ones only last 5 days although they're bigger than the old ones - useless! I asked for more but was only allowed 4 packets so more frequent trips to the hospital then.

Oh started to pick the apples, James Grieve and Elstar ones. They've nearly all got codling moth damage inside, including the ones that look perfect. No matter, they taste delicious. Rain then stopped play. I'll watch ETTC again and then do the ironing which I've been putting off since Monday!

I've had to arrange for a chiropodist to call next week as my badly bruised big toenail has started to lift away from the nailbed - nasty. No idea how I bruised it, probably dropped a pot on it!

          Have a good weekend all.

I've had a bit of a potter in the garden and I have planted ten Fritillaria uva-vulpis that I picked up for a song in Aldi. Looking forward to Beechgrove and GW tonight and I'm signing out for today. See you all tomorrow.

I really like your posies @Ladybird4 but am not a knitter so will just admire them.

Busy afternoon for me chatting to colleagues on the stand and lots of potential new members. Might have to start a waiting list at this rate as we cannot exceed 45 members. Home at 7:45 to cook a quick salmon steak dinner.

Back again tomorrow for another 5 hours as our treasurer has just had infliltrations in her lumbar spine to control pain and has to rest so needs replacing. I was doing 3 anyway so no trouble except we're expecting wet and windy tomorrow so may get a bit damp.

I shall have to catch up on Beechgrove and GW later as t'other pair don't want to watch them.

Pleasant evening and sweet dreams all.

That's going to be a long stint @Obelix-Vendée , hope it stays dry for you. Our weather forecast is getting worse every time I check so might nip up to the GC tomorrow which looks reasonable if I'm lucky. I've got some money off vouchers I need to spend before the end of September and the offer of a free coffee if I buy a cake - no contest there then! OH is out all day so I can have a good mooch round the GC.

Just watched GW but muted parts I didn't want to listen to and just looked at the plants instead.

Blimey @Allotment Boy, you're keen, we'd have dropped our suitcases and flopped with a bottle of wine! Hope you enjoyed the holiday in Germany.

@lizzie27 Having spent most of the day sitting on a coach then trains. I needed to do something. The green bin goes at 6am in the morning so I had to do it straight away or not at all.

Good morning everyone. Sorry @Allotment Boy I must have missed your post about your holiday in Germany unless it was on another thread. I've no doubt there will be plenty of jobs waiting for you since your return. Goodness @Obelix-Vendée those are serious amounts of time. @lizzie27 that sounds like a perfect start to your day. I am making a quick trip into the village first thing for a few bits of essentials and maybe a sneaky plant or two.
p.s. thanks for the kind comments about my posies.

There is an eerie quiet going on at present. Sunshine and birds singing. The calm before the storm?

My trip to the refitted GC was interesting. They have increased the sales area of the shop, lots of useless gee-gaws and interior decor pieces. The shop area has been very cleverly dressed in bright autumnal colours, lots of yellows and oranges. Very enticing. I looked at a sweatshirt, £60.00, I decided I could manage without it! They have a 50% reduction on some plants, my daughter bought some replacements for her garden and a deep red Japanese Anemone. I have never seen that colour in them before.
We had a bruscetta type of dish for lunch. Fresh crab, poached egg and salad. We were both disappointed, they were very stingy with the portion of crab and the toast was "stretchy and chewy", no idea what kind of bread was used. It was edible but not very exciting. Because you cannot book a table in advance they have introduced a pager system for the restaurant. We had to wait half an hour. There were two or three tables empty because people had been given pagers, gone off to browse the shop and hadn't come back when their pager went off. Very frustrating. My daughter wants to go back next Sunday, when my son is here, to test their Sunday Lunch menu. They have a new system where you can book a table in the Orangery, separate from the restaurant but the same chef/kitchen. Fingers crossed it will be an improvement.

My manky cardboard has finally been taken by the recycling squad! Yeah. Success.

Having received no post all week I had several letters and advertising leaflets in my letter box. With the exception of one letter from NHS the rest went straight in the bin.Talk about wasting paper.

Good morning. So far we have a few spells of watery sunshine but it will get drismal later on with increasing winds. Proper rain expected tomorrow and 50kph winds so the golf club has cancelled tomorrow's competition. Bit nesh about weather these locals.

I'm planning a cooked brunch before leaving at noon to go and do my stint at the stand. It's enjoyable @Ladybird4 and a chance to chat with colleagues between punters and have a laugh. i took a different route there yesterday to avoid roadworks and came across a big nursery I shall have to explore another time.

Have fun at the GC @lizzie27 and happy Saturday to all.

Good morning everyone, yes I realised my post was on the gardening thread.
I haven't posted on here for a while no specific reason. We were away on another river cruise in Germany the last 10 days, this may be our last as we've done most of the trips possible. This was the Rhine and the Moselle.
Sorry I haven't read back, so I hope all is well with everyone and I haven't missed anything significant.

                            Good Morning all.

I’m having a lazy morning after my work marathon yesterday. I don’t count my ‘steps’ on my phone like some do, but easily did the 10,000 I reckon. It was a bit miserable to be travelling in the near dark once again.I usually love Autumn but it seems to have come in with a bang and not stopped raining!

Have a lovely weekend everyone- whether it’s busy, relaxing or something in between.

                              Good morning all.

We went to the weekly market in Ribérac yesterday morning and I bought some vegetables also Lincolnshire sausages from an English woman who has a farm near here. Then we had a cappuccino in a café and met 3 friends there, coincidence, not by design.

We also went to the SM for coffee, loo rolls and milk.

When we got home the chimney sweep rang to ask if he could come yesterday afternoon instead of today. Glad that's done, though I left him with OH as I had to go out to help with the Creationtide preparations in church for Sunday.

Today will be a gardening day, once I get going. Just had a long chat with son on the phone.

                                Good afternoon to you all!!

Soft light rain here - lovely!!!

I am doing tomato puree today for the freezer. Fiddly, but the tomatoes have come on very quickly and although I have given many away to friends and neighbours - a bit of puree for soups in winter won't go amiss.

Kedgeree was good but probably not to be repeated in the not to distant future!!

                                Enjoy your Saturday everyone.
