Sunny here this morning, but a bit on the cool side. Grass cutting on today’s list of jobs. OH has ordered some electronic parts which are coming in the post today, hopefully in time for us to drop the chores and head out for an early lunch and a walk. We spent yesterday giving the bedroom a massive clean out, dust bunnies like tumbleweed under the bed and cobwebs behind the cupboards. It looks like a new room in here! Often gets neglected in favour of the public facing areas, which is daft really. We deserve the same effort we lavish on our visitors, but often run out of time or energy. I managed to condense my two drawers of gardening clothes into one! The rags produced from the excess old t shirts came in very handy for dusting and wiping down.
Hope @Goldenlily26 is feeling less stiff today. My ribs are easing up well, I found myself lying on my right side this morning, couldn’t do that for a few days.
Sounds like you had a lovely visit with @Penny_Forthem, @Ladybird4, and got to cuddle the dogs! Very envious! I’m sure I’ll see some at the Donkey Sanctuary later, there are quite a few regulars that we have got to know. Also might be honoured by some of the donkeys coming over to the fence for a scratch!
I must also look up how to take some cuttings before the temperatures drop any further.

      Very much a non day.
I had a surprise letter with an appointment to see someone in the Cardiac Care team in early Oct. I assume as a result of the GP's reviewing my meds etc. When I was discharged from hospital 3 years ago I was given the impression I would be under the care of the Cardiac team but I only had two appointments, I did phone twice for advice but no one got back to me so I gave up and went to my GP.
I tried to get a face to face ap. to see a Dr. about my throat but he isn't in surgery until Friday when I will have to try again. The results of my MRI scan are back but I have to discuss them with a Dr. as they say 'borderline', and the receptionist couldn't discuss them with me because they are not medically trained.
I have been invited to give reviews on the garments I ordered from Damart and still haven't received. No comment. I was told when I spoke to them I would be contacted within 48 hours to let me know what was happening. Nothing so far. The same with Evri, nothing. I did tell Damart I wanted to re-order the trousers so maybe my new order is in the pipeline.
I couldn't stir myself to go shopping so did 'not a lot' all day.
I wish I had the get up and go like many of you, preparing your gardens for the big winter
      sleep.
It sounds like a hive of industry everywhere.

        Morning; lovely, but cool.
Nothing much on the cards today, so I'll make a start on clearing the tomatoes and doing some minor running repairs to the greenhouse. One of the door bolts has dropped to bits and needs replacing.
Then we need to think about pruning the bullace. It's become a bit of a brute.

Morning all. Managed to get my washing on line..struggle day for me today. Then got hm soup prep and on. Soup will be ready for lunch for when husband back from Thurs walk with daughter and her dogs. He's just got back, said a commotion on main road when walking back home. In distance he could see a car in middle of road next to what he said looked like a large black animal nk to it ! When got closer he saw driver and learner driver standing nk to a massive black wrapped bale . It has just fallen off a lorry passing and bounced down the main road. Hubby had seen the lorry pass but not seen it fall off. No one was hurt but if that had hit anyone walking on the foot path l dread to think of the injury :( driver was then just calling police. My Temu order just arrived, few garden items and warm Winter pjs, Lovely sunny day here in Nottinghamshire, so i'm off to take some painkillers and hopefully in an hour can do a little gardening. Hope everyone has a lovely day if weather still good where you are.

Hello @Peaceful Gardener. I remember something similar happening on the road outside my house. Luckily noone was injured and no cars were hit but it was amusing watching them, after having to wait for a forklift, getting the bales back on the wagon. The drivers of the cars held up were not best pleased.

              Good afternoon everyone,

It’s been a glorious day here again. A chilly start, but it warmed up and has been pleasantly sunny all day.

The gardener we use to trim back our magnolia tree came today to do it and has done a fine job. It had put on a growth spurt during the summer, and some branches were starting to over hang into our neighbours garden, so we had those cut back. That is one job that we can’t tackle ourselves. I think we chose the wrong time of year last year (back end of Dec) as it didn’t flower too well this spring, but I’m hoping we’ll have a better show this coming spring. We didn’t plant it, and I’m sure a smaller variety would have been more suitable, as this one would get out of hand if we left it, but I love it too much to have it cut down, so that’s why we have it pruned annually.

We are getting there putting all our potted plants back in place after having our new patio. We had it enlarged and the plants look more spread out now and not so crammed. It makes moving about easier, too. I’m sure that I will spend some time re-arranging where we’ve put some of the pots though .

Meant to add an hello to @Peaceful Gardener.

Yes, and hello and welcome @Peaceful Gardener. I do like your name.
I've picked another bag of tomatoes and there's probably the same again ripening.
We have made the decision to replace the summer house with a bigger version. We bought this one during lockdown, when there was little choice. It's done us well, but now time to plan a better one.

There were 3 choices of walk today, 2km, 5km and 6km. I did 6km. Then we had a 3 course lunch in a village restaurant. The local plonk was good. I felt very full but I couldn't finish it all.

Tomorrow we are going to stay the weekend with son Daniel and family on the Atlantic coast. They own a holiday house by the sea but they rent it out in the summer. We'll drive there tomorrow, explore Bayonne then meet the family at a restaurant in Hossegor for evening dinner. Daniel and his OH will be working during the day.

Sounds good @Busy-Lizzie - walkies and lunch and a trip to the coast. i've always fancied a jaunt down to Bayonne and Biarritz but finding a time that doesn't clash with OH's golf is not easy.

There's a walking group in our village I'd like to join but they go out on Tuesdays with circuits of 6 to 8 or 8 to 10 kms which I'm worried might be too much for the knees as the village is centred round a lake.reservoir and a ibit upsy downsy so I need to get some shorter walks in on my own or with OH to see how I do.

What will you do with the old one @Penny_Forthem ? Keep it or recycle it somehow?

Yes @Blue arbour, the time to prune magnolias is mid-summer to early autumn. I have 3 but all babies and not needing pruning yet but I've been researching their care as I want to plant them out this autumn.

@Peaceful Gardener and I have met on a veggie thread.

@Blue arbour it must be so nice repositioning your pots after all the work on the patio you have done. Easier to move them around too when you feel like a change of 'scenery'.
