Good morning everybody. These weekends seem to come by so quickly. Just enjoying my first mug of nectar of the gods having sorted out Cricket's breakfast and trying to organise my 'to do' list into my 'what I want to do first' list. So far nothing is winning that race. I will wait and see how I feel after my second cuppa. I hope that @Busy-Lizzie is waking up to an exciting day with her son and family.

I forgot to mention of course that all 'jobs' will have to fit in around the BIG MATCH this afternoon. Sis and BIL will be attending - I will be glued to the TV. Come on England!

        Good morning all.

I've just read everyone's posts, feels like I've been absent for more than a day! Though I enjoyed reading them.

There were 2 closed roads in the countryside part of the journey involving big detours then the 3 lane motorway had 2 lanes closed for roadworks in several places, no sign of any workmen. Loads of lorries as it's the main route to Spain.

We enjoyed Bayonne yesterday, very pretty and full of character. The cathedral was magnificent.

We went to a restaurant for dinner when the family arrived.

I didn't sleep very well, strange bed, wrong pillow. OH slept like a log.

Thanks for your kind support everyone.
My visit with the GP ended with him referring me on to the Ear, Nose and Throat Dept. where they will put a camera up my nose and down my throat to have a look at what is going on. He said he was sure there was nothing sinister going on because my symptoms did not suggest cancer. The thought of the procedure required freaks me out, I inadvertently saw someone on TV having it done and it is not pleasant. I know they give you a premed to keep you calm but! He asked me what my voice sounded like normally? How on earth do you descibe what your voice sounds like? He also advised me to try and avoid falls. Does anyone fall over deliberately I asked him?
I booked my ap. for my annual flu and Covid jabs whilst at the surgery. They only do them on Saturdays but have quite an efficient system set up. All of the Drs. are there giving the jabs so never too long to wait.
I do feel sorry for your family members needing ops. and having them cancelled. It seems to be very common. My neighbour's father needed a triple bypass which was cancelled 3 times. He was in his gown, waiting on the trolley to go to the theatre the last time it was called off.
I was told I had AF because my BP dropped very low. 83. I had an ECG and was told I did not have AF! I wore a heart monitor for 24 hrs. and still no AF. My BP has stabilised as normal since being put on a child's dose of medication. 115. It is going to be interesting to hear what the cardiac nurse has to say when I see her in a couple of weeks time.

I have had an email from Damart following my second call. They are going to chase up Evri and I have to call Damart again in two days time if I have heard nothing. My suspicion now is Evri delivered my parcel to the wrong address as the Damart woman asked me if I had a black bin near my front door. No, my bins are on the other side of the house.

I went to Lidl after my Drs. ap. where I bought myself some ripening limes to make some lime marmalade. The limes are on special offer at the moment, not often I see ripening ones, they are usually dark green, hard, bullets. I had planned to browse more shops but was bushed so came home.
My daughter called in later to catch up with the results of my Drs. ap. She finally admitted to being tired and drained after the last couple of weeks. I think we all wilt when we have visitors staying under our roofs, with her father's wake and the commital of his ashes she stepped up and supported her brother and in laws so it all had to catch up at some time. Because I went out shopping and her car was in for service she had three hours gardening in glorious weather, I am eternally thankful she has developed a love of gardening, what better panacea could she have when feeling down? They are going diving on Sunday, another helpful break for her. She brought me some lovely cooking apples from their garden, baked apple stuffed with marzipan or sultanas, and she went home with some of my eating apples, a jar of Odds and Sods Chutney, a quarter of the Coffee and Walnut Sponge for my son in law, she is on a diet, and he is always happy to help me eat cake, and a Santolina plant. All was right with the world.
She has taken my Medi Alert module away with her to sort out. It isn't working properly and I had stopped using it. It was funny, we tried testing it and I couldn't get a response, she had a go, no idea what she did but it suddenly began talking to itself, then we couldn't turn it off. She had a conversation with one of the operatives who gave her their service office tel. no., and she is going to contact them on Monday to see if they will send me a replacement.
Everyone sounds busy with visits, cooking and gardening, keep it up. A bit of rain later then back to balmy autumn. I have a whole week without any appointments so my cunning plan is to catch up with a couple of friends and get some jobs done. My life rarely goes to my plans so I shall see.
          Have a good day all.

            Morning all,

Bayonne looks very pretty @Busy-Lizzie but your journey to your son there sounded awful. There seems to be roadworks all over the country here so we're now allowing extra time to get anywhere.

It's not so nice this morning, an easterly wind and cloudy and I feel tired after yesterday's exertions and woke up with a nasty twinge in my left hip so doubt if I'll do much outside today.
I've got ironing to do anyway and might try making a Dorset Apple cake.

I had that procedure done @Goldenlily26 and it wasn't as bad as I had feared. It helped that I had a very patient medic who calmed me down, more or less held my hand and encouraged me to deep breath slowly. It's a very small tube, an odd sensation but not painful and the whole thing was over quickly, so I'm sure you will manage ok. They didn't find anything wrong and said it was probably just stress, which may well be the case for you as you've been through a very stressful time by all accounts since last Christmas. Hope so anyway.

            Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Planned to have a day at home, but we weakened and went to the garden centre! OH is looking for some new shoes, but they didn’t have what he was looking for. I bought another hay rack trough for the sunny wall at the back of the house and two bags of compost with their special offer voucher. Also bought a half price salvia, ( their vouchers do tempt to buy stuff I hadn't planned to!) and liberated two pots of violas for 99p each. Don’t know how long they’ll last, but they are pretty colours. Rugby to watch this afternoon!
I’ve had to reclean and air the guest bathroom! I had given it a spray with a rhubarb scented cleaner. I’ve used it for ages in the kitchen, but it turns out that confined in a bathroom, it smells like someone has been vaping in there! Much nicer now!

Greetings. I've had a lazy morning reading and dozing after a very disturbed night - harvest mite itchy season and all the anti-histamines and creams not working.

We've just had grilled bacon, poached eggs and baked beans for our usual Saturday lunch and OH now has Ryder Cup on TV. I don't feel like gardening so will retreat to my sewing room and DVDs of Geoff H's Ornamental Kitchen Garden and co. We're going to a dance competition tomorrow afternoon and there'll be intervals of dancing for us so I need to turn up OH's new linen trousers.

I hope you don't have to wait too long to see the ENT person @Goldenlily26 and that the procedure goes well. OH was tested for AF after his mum started suffering with it years ago as it can be a familial problem. He's fine but his 2 siblings were tested too and they're on all sorts of meds now. Very pleased that your child's dose is working for you.

Bayonne does look lovely @Busy-Lizzie. Loads of roadworks here too now that the main tourist season is over and the workers are back from their hols. Lots of white lines being refreshed before winter too.

We're having a mostly sunny weekend with temps up to 20C for a few days but it's definitely feeling autumnal. I need jeans and t-shirts now so will have to put away the summer frocks sandals as well as the gardening shorts, strappy tops and flip flops.

Hope it's sunny for you too.

                  Afternoon all.

Bayonne looks gorgeous, @Busy-Lizzie ! Another to put on my "would love to visit" list...

Commiserations on the itchy bites, @Obelix-Vendée . I have just one harvest mite bite (courtesy of my morning at Seed Savers yesterday, walking round the orchards), but that's itchy enough!

The sun has come out after a drizzly morning, so I'll be sorting out the bulbs which arrived yesterday from Farmer Gracy. It wasn't due to be delivered until Wednesday, so that's a bonus. Camassias do well here (they like damp soil, which we have in abundance), so I've ordered some white ones to brighten up a dull corner in the front garden. Also some Tenby daffodils to grow in the meadow, and tulips for pots in the sun, next to the front door. It's lovely to plan for Spring!

I have 9 so far @Liriodendron, all in the last week. Some are calming down but the newer ones are ferocious.

I've ended up gardening anyway after fixing the wardrobe door in the guest bedroom as it had jammed then turning up OH's trousers and a pair for Possum. Decided to go and check my seedlings - 2 chard thru but no parsley, dill, coriander or chervil yet. Teeny little eragrostis shoots but no blue fescue. Not worried tho as it's an experimental sowing after the spring sown herbs either failed or fried. Never sown grasses before.

Potted up all my rose cuttings so they can grow bigger, healthier roots for next spring - 3 Malvern Hills, 2 Teasing Georgia and 3 Geoff Hamilton. Re-potted a fab blue salvia with silvery blue leaves and took some cuttings. Watered the recently planted beets, leeks and brassicas and then set the sprinkler on my nursery of pots.

Evening all. Just prepping supper ready for Strictly. I’ve had a quiet day so batteries re-charged. I need to think about Spring bulbs plus help MIL with hers, so maybe tomorrow jobs.

I hope all is well with you guys and the weekend has brought something to make you smile.

Good evening all. Happy bunny here as England won the World Cup!
Those are lovely pictures of Bayonne @Busy-Lizzie. Thank you for sharing them with us.
@Goldenlily26 I too have had that procedure done and it is not as bad as all that. I didn't need a premed. I had been with my Bestie when she had to have it done so a few weeks later when I was told I needed to have one when they were trying to decide what was causing my persistent cough I was not unduly concerned. It does feel a little odd but nothing to worry about.
I am interested to hear about your successful rose cuttings @Obelix-Vendée. Do they manage on their own roots successfully rather than being grafted? @Liriodendron I have a soggy soil and have both blue and white camassias in my front garden. I thought that they might flower together but the blue ones always come first.
Got a gluten free chocolate cake made for tomorrow. I can never get the bally things to keep level but I guess that it should taste OK. See you all tomorrow.

They grow perfectly well @Ladybird4 but maybe slower to get to size as they're not grafted. I have a Teasing Georgia taken from one I had in Belgium as a short climber. Much hotter and drier here but it gets to about 1m here and is a lovely shrub with lots of flowers. It'll be interesting to see what my baby Malvern Hills does as a rambler on its own roots.

I have a Fighting Téméraire and a Lark Ascending from older cuttings and still in pots and they've flowered better than their parents which were thoroughly baked this year.

Good morning everyone. Well it was very Autumnal this morning with a thick mist outside first thing. This has now cleared away so hopefully it may turn out nice. I musn't forget any of the things I need to take for the tea/coffee morning this morning - particularly the milk! Being in the fridge it can easily be overlooked. That was a very interesting read @Obelix-Vendée I might have a go at rose cuttings myself. I hope that the dance competition goes well today.
Whatever activity anyone has planned for today I hope it is a happy time.

                              Good morning all.

I think we are going to look at the port and the sea today.

Youngest grandson, 4, wasn't very well last night.

                              We go home this afternoon.

Good morning. Dull and cloudy here so far but no matter as we'll be indoors watching the dancing. First tho I need to make a chocolate beetroot cake for tomorrow and with stevia instead of sugar as we now have 2 diabetics.

If you do try @Ladybird4, I use terracotta pots and a seeds and cuttings compost which has a good ratio of perlite. Several pencil sized cuttings to a pot and I dip them in a rooting compound which is liquid here, rather than powder. Keep out of direct sun and frost free. They can take months to root and the success rate is variable but worth the effort when they succeed.

I hope grandson feels better today @Busy-Lizzie and that you enjoy your day. Safe journey home.

                                Happy Sunday everyone.
