We've come in from the garden, weeding, mowing. The fires are lit. We don't have central heating here, wood burners and a few electric heaters. The electric heaters don't go on until it's really winter, except the fan heater in the bathroom for bath and showers.

Gosh, where has the day gone? Our friends SIL turned up with his chainsaw this morning and did all three pruning jobs I'd asked him to do - very quickly as well so I'm well pleased. He even admired my Dorset Apple cake I made yesterday so he can come again! Half of that has been eaten already, it's very moreish. After he'd gone, I just pottered round the garden again doing odd jobs, a very satisfying day in sunshine - lovely.

I agree with the others @Goldenlily26, time to insist your neighbours get those chickens rehomed somewhere else, it's not your problem (although their mess is of course).

Hope you're not too black and blue @Obelix-Vendée, falls seem to hurt more when you're older and as you say, you don't tend to bounce. The dancing competition sounded fun. Will you have to wear evening dress next time?

A barbecue @Penny_Forthem ! It's dark here by 7 ish and too chilly for me.

Enjoy your choral evening @Liriodendron. An album sounds great.

It was chilly here this morning @Ladybird4, only 4.9c by 8 am. Thought we'd better get up early (for us) as wasn't sure when our chappie with his chainsaw would be arriving. However he didn't come till 10.45 so I actually had time to do some ironing. Still more to do though (sigh).

My afternoon was rearranged at 1.55, when i received a call from the chiropodist to say the 2.30 appointment was cancelled. It was cancelled Friday and rearranged with a different one today.
Now Wednesday. I hope. Not happy.
No bbq as it rained earlier, so fajitas.

What a bore, @Penny_Forthem, hope it doesn’t get cancelled again.
Our day didn’t go to plan either, but in a good way. We enjoyed our morning walk so much that we stayed out for ages, and then decided we might as well head back into the restaurant for lunch! The sun stayed out, and our jackets came off, so we had another walk! I got to cuddle several dogs, including a gigantic but very soppy Doberman Pinscher, and a five month old terrier pup. I also dished out scratches to quite a few friendly donkeys, several on your behalf, @Ladybird4 ! Didn’t get home till gone 4pm, but I got the recycling out and filled my new wall trough with compost, ready for some plants. Early bed with a book tonight. Watched a Guy Ritchie film last night, very silly but entertaining, I do like Jason Statham for some reason!

Good evening all. Sorry read about your fall @Obelix-Vendée and hope you are not too creaky after it. Also sorry about your 're-arranged' appointments @Penny_Forthem - such a nuisance. I nipped up to the village as planned to pick up my prescription this morning and when I got home I put a wash load on as it was so pleasant. I planted out the remaining 14 violas I had and had a look at the jobs I want to do tomorrow - more tidying up in the garden. Washing dried well and I've just fetched it in to air off inside. Cricket's bedding was soon occupied. He seems to really like his bedding just after its been washed.

My sim card got maliciously swapped/ported today. Thankfully was looking at my phone at the time and was able to get through to my bank using ye olde house phone, they tried buying something from apple while I was speaking to the fraud team. Giffgaff were also quick to disable it but have yet to reconnect me to my number. Most annoying

How on earth did we get 3/4 of the way through this year so quickly? I will be out there in the garden with my secateurs - armed and dangerous - today, unless, of course something more pressing/interesting turns up. I do know that I have more pelargoniums to get safely potted up from hanging baskets and pots and safely stashed in the GH before we get any serious frosts. The 'to do' list just seems to get longer and longer at the moment.
I hope you all have happy days.

Sunny and light cloud here at the moment. Like @Ladybird4 Im hoping to get out and do some pruning and general tidying. I ver wintered some pelargoniums in the spare bedroom last year and hope to do the same this. One year I tried putting some in the mini greenhouse but it got too cold and I lost them.
Hope the mammogram isn’t too uncomfortable @Busy-Lizzie .
Frustrating about the appointment changes @Penny_Forthem - seems to happen a lot to people these days.

Morning from the top of a Welsh hill!
                            It's very still.
Worrying about the sim card. Lots of things worry me these days.
I'll have a lot of clearing out to do in the garden and greenhouse when we get home. Ideally, I'd like to go back tomorrow, but we have a friend coming on Thursday, so will depart soon after she does.
We are noticing more of Gin's quirks now; as soon as I draw breath to cough, he takes himself off to his bed in the shower room. I wonder what makes him do that?
I'm not dog behaviourally, but it's almost as if he associates coughing with punishment, poor boy.

My tumble in the garden has finally caught up with me. I must have twisted as I fell, my left side is so painful, feels like a bruised rib. Swinging a croquet mallet around probably didn't help. I thought I had got away lightly.
I hope everyone else with aches and pains are recovering now. I am not 'getting' old, I have 'got' old! One of the ladies at croquet complained all she seemed to do now was get herself or her OH to medical appointments. Join the club.

I put some washing out, leapt around, (read staggered), sweeping the downstairs and made a beef spag. bol. for dinner. I want to mop the downstairs but think I should wait a few days before stressing my ribs any more.
I tracked down a duck, I will go to the butcher at Heligan on Sat. to pick it up, I try not to go there too often as they have a lovely shop/deli., where I usually find something to tempt me. They have a couple of ducks in their freezer, but they are too big for me, 5 kilos, £22.00 each, so I have ordered a smaller one.
I chased the chickens out of my garden, waving a broom at them. It made me feel better but they will be back, I am sure. I am going to suggest my neighbour takes them to her Dad's piece of woodland where she takes her unwanted cockerels, to let them fend for themselves.
I have had to call Damart again, 3rd time, to chase up my parcel. Finally, I have spoken to a supervisor who is sending another order out to me. It should arrive in the next 7 days, via Evri. I let it be known that Evri has a bad reputation locally for getting deliveries wrong. I have already received a message from Evri saying they are waiting to receive my parcel from Damart. I did tell Damart I was considering cancelling my order.
I found a local NHS bereavement group in town, which meets once a month. Run by one of the local hospices. It is free and informal, a cup of tea and a chat. I will give it a go and see what happens. A free cuppa never goes amiss.

I have started watching the new B. Brother. It drives me mad on one level, the screaming, and superficiality of the housemates etc. but I enjoy unravelling the psychological aspect of it. It is run by a university for psychology students who design the program, the application form and selection process. Also, the content of the program. What a fun way to learn a subject. Each housemate has a back story, which is interesting when they reveal what it is adn each one has a mental check before they are allowed to take part, to avoid breakdowns which happened once or twice in the early days of the program.

Has anyone noticed how many female presenters have adopted a weird way of standing when presenting? They wear unbelievably high-heeled shoes and must walk on their points. Very painful. They rest on one hip and bend the opposite knee, to rest the other foot, I suppose. As if they are ready to carry a small child on their hip. I think it looks rather unladylike and inelegant but I am a grumpy old ancient after all. The girl who presents the M&S program and BB, and a couple of the newscasters do it. I have never noticed it before, it must be the 'in' thing to do. Just saying.

Another lovely day, I haven't decided what to do yet. I am spoilt for choice.
I hope you all have another lovely day in your gardens and out on your trips.

Good morning. Lovely and sunny here and highs of 21 expected but rain and wind forecast for Friday tho staying warm.

OH left early this am so I've done the chooks and birds and then patch admin so far this am before being filmed by Possum doing some patchwork sewing. She's building a website for the club as part of her studies and has to do a short film about our activities too.

We have a lady at patch who I describe as being away with the fairies - dippy, dizzy, needs everything explaining several times, thinks she can't visit websites without accepting cookies..... Sent me a mail at 1am asking me to tell her what colours of felt were available for a project, only 5 hours after the order deadline. High maintenance female!

I got home from patch yesterday evening to find OH fussing on his smart phone because some oik in the USA was trying to hack his emails and accounts @Hanglow so I sympathise. Hope it's all sorted now.

I have to book an appointment @Busy-Lizzie and am not looking forward to it. Hope it wasn't too bad.

I'm dangerous with secateurs too @Ladybird and I have loppers and 2 pruning saws too - short and long-handled. I've stopped using the chain saw tho.
