Late on parade for me too @Penny_Forthem but I was just lying a-bed, snuggling a feline and finding out what happened next. Book finished and got up.

Bright, sunny and warm, as predicted but feeling peeved with the forecasters as they have changed the 1.5cm expected on Friday and Saturday to a mere 1.5mm which isn't enough to lay dust, let alone moisten the soil so back to watering for me and a longer wait to get planting and transplanting done. Humph.

Hope it all clears up soon @Tui34. Not pleasant. You too with your ribs @Goldenlily26 and all the other bumps and bruises we've accumulated this week.

I've done some pruning and dead-heading, made lunch, cooked rice ahead for tonight and put the chicken in to marinate. Off to do some gardening now in the sun and then pick cavolo nero to go with our spiced chicken traybake.

Enjoy your day everyone, whatever you're doing.

Hello all. It's turned out warm and sunny this afternoon, and I've managed a few jobs in the garden - nothing strenuous, just a bit of tidying so it doesn't look too bad when I get back!

I've virtually finished my packing for tomorrow, when I leave at 6.30am to catch a train on the first leg of my journey to Scotland. I'm keeping a close eye on Storm Amy... I think I'll be OK crossing the Irish Sea tomorrow, but the ferry from Oban to Lismore on Friday might well be affected if the wind (and therefore the swell) is coming from the south-west. Might need a plan B, with an overnight in Oban. We'll see.

I'll add my sympathy as well, @Tui34 . UTIs can make you feel dreadful so I hope yours clears up pronto. I have antibiotics with me when I travel, because getting to see a doctor when you're on an island is tricky.

Back from our flu / Covid jabs. OH has drilled some holes in the trough and flower pots I bought last week, so now I can plant them up. I’m going to put my small, grown from seed, hollyhocks in the trough for the time being at least. I wasn’t expecting them to flower at all this year, so had neglected them a bit, but they are about a foot high with pretty pink flowers.
Luckily there weren’t many blueberries left this morning, as I managed to empty the pack over the floor while making breakfast. I managed to retrieve three of them, but I don’t know how many have rolled under the kitchen cabinets, and I’m not feeling agile enough to get down to look! That will have to wait.
I’ve bought a copy of the latest Richard Osman book, and I'm trying not to dive in yet. Once I do, I suspect I won’t surface until I’ve finished it, so I’m trying to pace myself. Maybe I should save it until we are stuck indoors because of bad weather. Hope your journey goes ok, @Liriodendron.

Evening all. I’ve been busy with work and Dad the last few days so I’ve just woken from a cheeky snooze! Lovely to read all your chat.

October is here! I am looking forward to seeing the leaves start to change colour as that softens the blow of the dark evenings and chilly mornings to come.

          Take care all.

Christmas must be nearly here; I've booked my Waitrose slot. Not quick enough off the mark to book for Christmas eve, but got the 21st.

Good evening all. Yes @Penny_Forthem, I can certainly confirm that Gin is a sweet natured boy. When we adopt rescue pets we often wonder about their past lives and hope that they haven't been badly misused. I'll be interested to hear what the trainer advises. Hope your tootsies have all been dealt with today. I am signing out for today and I just want to wish bon voyage to @Busy-Lizzie and @Liriodendron. See you all around tomorrow.

Too dark yet to see what's going on outside but I'm off to see my Bestie this morning so I'm looking fiorward to hearing all about her and her daughter's break in Pine Lakes. We have a lot of gossip to catch up on. I will be taking my baby scarf to carry on knitting whilst we natter.

Morning @Ladybird4 and all to follow. I'm on the first train of the day, a little diesel which crawls along, hooting at every farm crossing. It's just getting light...

                    Good morning to you all!!

An autumn morning indeed. Cool with bright sunshine.

Bon voyage @Lirodendron May Amy not impede your travels!

I have been walking with Fizz this week as I had yet another puncture. It has been repaired - the tyre seemed to have found a thorn this time!! But I have been enjoying the walk although Fizz would do the whole circuit backwards with a bit of stick in her mouth!!

I was going to go to the SM this morning, but can't be bothered. Markets tomorrow morning for freshies, so will do that. In-line dancing this afternoon, to which I will make the effort. I need to pull out the dead tomato plants - but they, also can wait. I will sow broad beans in their place in November.

Hope to hear how @Ante1 's summer harvest has gone. I hope he/she will have a bit more time after harvest and preserving to post.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Good morning all. I hope we are all slowly recovering from our aches and pains. My ribs are subsiding, with the help of regular doses of Co-codamol. Thank goodness.
I did a shop at Asda, don't go there very often now, but I wanted to be sure I found what I wanted. I came home shattered as usual so nothing else was done except put perishables in the fridge or freezer.
My new GPS monitor was delivered while I was out. It is very different to my first one. It is sitting on its charger at the moment. I have to take it for a walk around the house and garden to make sure I have a good signal then make a test emergency call to register. Although I never needed my previous one to make an emergency call, I did accidentally trigger it a couple of times when out and about, I leaned against it. It was rather disconcerting to suddenly have a voice calling my name and asking if I was alright, once in a restaurant and once in the middle of nowhere walking Rob. I was told I was in the middle of a cricket field. Yes, I was, spooky! No one else around. It was a good check that showed it worked. This new model is lighter in weight and I have an automatic voice message reminding me to put it on charge. Hopefully, I will never need to use it in an emergency.
I am going out for lunch today with one of the ladies from club, then we shall go to the club afternoon session so no leaping about this morning.
I am going to call in at B&Q for a new bucket. Asda's one and only bucket was £15.00! I am sure B&Q's are only a couple of pounds.
I watched a wonderful program about whales, filmed off the coast of America, where the whales come alongside boats for a scratch! It was noticed they often gravitated towards one person, as though they picked up 'good vibes'. One whale even brought her baby to join in. Thank goodness the killing of these magnificent animals has been stopped, almost. My daughter and son-in-law have swum near basking sharks when diving at Sennen, quite an experience. They are the size of a double decker bus with enormous mouths. They have seen so many exciting creatures when diving, especially an enormous lobster, reckoned to be very old. They have had the ends of their flippers grabbed by young seals wanting to play etc.
When I walked Rob on the beach I always picked up scraps of plastic, I saw lots of other people doing the same. I used to find a lot of small pieces of synthetic cord used on para gliders and surf boards etc. Only a few centimetres long, trimmings from rigging, usually bright blue, or turquoise. I always felt tiny pieces of plastic were more likely to be eaten by fish etc. so it is possible the pigeon ate something with plastic inside it. They are finding plastic micro balls inside so many animals now, apart from creatures being trapped inside containers and starving to death etc.

Sad news about the 'Gorilla lady', she was an exceptional woman, a real trailblazer.

                          Good morning all.

@Tui34 @Ante1 is a he and he has been busy recently harvesting his huge potato area.

That was sad news @Goldenlily26, but she was the "Chimpanzee lady", Jane Goodall, died 1st October, an amazing woman. Dian Fossey was the gorilla lady. I'm glad your ribs are improving.

This is our last full day in Dordogne until January. Off to Son 1 near Auxerre tomorrow. Ferry on Tuesday. Back in Norfolk on Thursday. I wonder how my garden is, we have had a new gardening man. This year I will be spending Christmas with OH's family in England instead of my families in France.

Morning all, it's disappointingly dull and overcast this morning just as I'd managed to persuade OH to help me with another gardening project. Hopefully it won't rain till it's finished.

Bon voyage to @Liriodendron and @Busy-Lizzie.

Buckets are certainly cheaper at B & Q @Goldenlily26, I usually pick one up every time I go there. Glad the rib pain is subsiding but go careful on the C0-comadel, it's highly addictive I believe. Enjoy your lunch out and the play this afternoon. The GPS monitor sounds good.

Also enjoy your time with your friend @Ladybird4. I'm not sure about scarves for tiny babies though.

@Lirodendron - just seen online that Storm Amy has been upgraded to amber from 17.00 Friday till Sat morning so take care.

Well. I'd better finish my coffee and get on out there.

Yes, @lizzie27 , I've just had a message saying all ferries to the island are cancelled on Friday afternoon and all of Saturday. I've had to book a couple of nights in the hostel in Oban. Hope I can stay dry on Saturday - not a lot of fun exploring Oban in the wind and rain! Perhaps the library might be open...

Got back from New Bern, NC. on Tuesday. Leaving today, Thursday for couple days in the Poconos, PA. Going to a favorite place for some awesome music, two nights in a row. The Deer Head Inn.
