I had forgotten, Rob was terrified of guns shots. We get random shooting around here when farmers decide to clear the rabbits. My previous dog went berserk when hot air balloons went over the house. Poor Gin, with his history no wonder he has some behaviour issues. I guess some will never be resolved but if he can learn to be happy, relaxed and reasonably behaved life will be so much more comfortable for him and his new family.

Loads of hot air balloons to run around and bark at from our Belgian garden @Goldenlily26 but never seen one here. Lots of walkers, cyclists, motorcycle convoys to run up and down and bark at tho.

Now on the ferry. Staying with friends in Tonbridge tonight and tomorrow.

        We liked Troyes.

Is this strange, or is it just me thinking this way. So August 31 we attended a wedding out in California. Both the bride and groom have facebook. The wedding cost over $50,000 dollars.
Here it is. to this day, there are no pictures of the wedding on either of their facebook. no picture of the bride in her gown with the groom, the flowers, nothing.

@redstar maybe they don't want their photos on Facebook. Maybe they show them differently. If you would like some you could ask them. None of my children posted their photos on Facebook.

That does seem a little strange @redstar, especially these days when most people seem to want to show online all the details of their lives.

Presumably you have your own pictures of the wedding, or was that not allowed?

Troyes looks magnificent @Busy-Lizzie, love the last two coloured houses! Hope the ferry crossing is uneventful.

I've been working on my enlarged raspberry bed project most of the day and I've nearly finished. Ran out of oomph so will spread the bags of bark mulch on the path tomorrow.

I feel really hungry now, we're trying to have a 'thin' day and I'm trying to last out till dinner which will be my 'eggy mess' (part scrambled/omelette style) with smoked salmon and toast. Can't wait, it's surprisingly filling. Supposed to be 500 calories only.

I knew it was interesting and lovely @Busy-Lizzie but not that it has fiancy tiled roofs like Beaune. Thank you.

Me too @lizzie27 - run out of oomph and thin day. It's surprisingly hard work digging holes, even on deep, fertile loam as it's bone dry. OH has dug out holes wider and deeper and square and then I've sorted out the bottom to make sure there's good drainage and it's easier for roots to penetrate then added loads of horse manure to the soil for back filling.

3 magnolias now planted - Star Wars, Butterflies and soulangea - in different spots in our large expanse of green stuff. It's ex meadow so definitely not lawn. I've put rusty obelisks on the 2 smaller ones to make sure OH doesn't run them over when he mows.

Cuppa then shower, light dinner and dance class. Should have clear skies to see the full moon. It was already very bright last night.

Hope you all get to see it too.

I did go to art, though little was done, except for nattering! There were 5 of us. However, subs are paid, so we're good till Christmas.
                  I remember Beaune, too.
Might give 'Murder before evensong' a go tonight. I didn't really rate the book (sorry, Rev Coles) but there's little else on for us. We'll know in the first few minutes if it's 'our' thing.
Son of a friend recently married, @redstar and nobody except the official photographer, could post photos. He took weeks to share them. Far longer than 'your' married couple. I agree, baffling.
I have a paella in the oven; it has used up chicken, peppers, peas and chorizo. I could add prawns to it, but it doesn't need them (so I won't!)

Good afternoon all. Thank you so much @Busy-Lizzie for sharing those wonderful pictures with us. I hope that you have a smooth crossing and a safe onward journey to your friends. I was out this morning and got a text from my neighbour asking me to look out for a parcel she was expecting. I kept everything crossed that I would get home before the delivery and luckily I did.
Gosh @lizzie27 and @Obelix-Vendée you have been busy bees in your gardens. @Obelix-Vendée I love the sound of all your magnolias.
I was not terrifically impressed with the reaction of the cardiac nurse to your information @Goldenlily26 - sounds a right grump to me.
@Penny_Forthem I might just give that programme a try myself tonight and like you, I will soon know if it is for me or not.
Right I think I better go and check on the washing I hung out earlier so I will sign out for this evening and wish you all good night. I'll catch up on all your further news in the morning.

                      Evening all.

@Ladybird, sorry to hear the news about your brother. Fingers crossed for the biopsy. Tried to send you a Pm but forgot how to. Did send you an e mail though but not sure I’ve got the right address.

@Busy-Lizzie , safe trip and hope you arrive safe and sound.

A very good morning to you all. Thank you so much @Songbird - you got my email correct and I will be replying later. It is supposed to be nice today so more time in the garden this morning. The beautiful moon was completely obscured by cloud here last night. It was just as well I went out to check on my washing because it had just started to rain and the bulk of the washing was getting close to being dried. I hope all goes well at patch club today @Obelix-Vendée (least I think it is patch club you were getting your machine ready for the other day - I could have just invented that!). @Busy-Lizzie, you will be waking up in Blighty this morning and returning home so bon voyage for your onward journey.
@Penny_Forthem I did watch that programme last night. It was a sort of mix of Midsomer and Father Brown. An easy watch but I was not convinced by the actor chosen to play the Rev. He looked about 16! I could hardly recognise Amanda Redman or Tamzin Outhwaite. However, it was a easy watch and it was NEW!

                          Good Morning all.

Thank you for my well-wishes. I’m starting to feel better but have lost my smell and taste, which is weird and annoying, and I am still very tired. Wearing masks in the hospital became mandatory yesterday as there is a spike of ‘respiratory illnesses’. Seems early this year. I need to shake off this illness so I can have my Flu jab as I really don’t want that bug!

I have read through all your ups and downs. Thoughts to those with worries.

I hope today is kind to you all and there is some Autumn sunshine for everyone.

Losing your sense of smell and taste is a classic symptom of having Covid. When I was in the throes of Covid I could barely eat anything because everything, for no reason, was strongly sweet or salty. I have been left not able to taste a lot of foods. It makes life really boring as I have always been a bit of a foody. I hope your taste buds soon wake up 100%

You all sound very busy, hopefully, everyone's bumps and bruises have now recovered and you are all ready to get up and go. It is such lovely gardening weather. I daren't clear any ground until the chickens have gone. If they find open soil they are in there, scratching around, kicking the soil onto the paths and digging up plants. What very few plants I have left.

I am off to the ear clinic this morning.
I had a call from my surgery asking me to go in for a blood test as requested by the cardiac nurse, she forgot to share that nugget of information with me. I also had a letter from the hospital with an ap. in ENT tomorrow, 2 days notice. My daughter is in Ireland with work so I have changed the ap. to next week. The letter is dated Oct. 1st. so has taken a week to get here, that is what happens when postal delivery is cut to twice a week.
My social life is so exciting!

I spent a lot of time washing up yesterday, now I have to tackle some cleaning as I have visitors coming on the 19th. We have booked a table in the Long Store in Charlestown for lunch on Sunday. My niece is one of the fussiest eaters I have ever come across, so different to my brood who eat anything they are given and are happy to try anything new they haven't eaten before. I brought them up to have the manners to at least try food, they might even like it.

My neighbour told me if I can catch any of her bantams I am welcome to wring their necks and put them in the pot. As if! (Although they might make good stock for soup?)
She also said some of the problem is, I do not have a dog to chase them out of my garden. She could easily fix me up with a dog. No thank you. Rob chased her big chickens when they were chicks so they never look to invade my space. No, the problem is not mine. It had not occurred to her the bantams pooping on my patio etc. would be a problem for me although she is having a problem with dog poos in her parking area from No 1's dogs.

                              Have a good day everyone.
The conversation was amicable and we are still friends, it is always uncomfortable dealing with neighbours and issues.
