Hello everybody. Gosh but we were rushed off our feet at food bank today. First of all we had three massive food and hygiene products delivered which we have to weigh and date. Please do not ask me why we have to do this as it has both my Bestie and I bemused. It all came to over 100Kg. We never had time to sit down as it took us 3 hours to deal with all that and pack supplies for mostly families today. When we got back to my car we both sank into the front seats and commented at the same time how nice it was to sit down. I didn't stay at Bestie's as I was cold and just wanted to be home. I am not sure what day we are on next.
Glad to read you are chook free now @Goldenlily26 and that you are making progress with your ear.
We have a garage similar to yours @Penny_Forthem in our village. That is where I will be taking my car in future. I hope that the pheremone collar works and I can just imagine what a joyous time you have all snuggled together.
I am signing out for this evening and wish you all a happy night. See you in the morning.

No gardening for us today. We met up with friends with their new motor home, very envy making, and spent a lot of time cuddling their lovely collie cross dog. Lunch out and a walk with them, I caught up on the latest with my friend, and our husbands set the world to rights. Very lucky with the weather, overcast when we left home, but then sun the rest of the day. Got quite warm.
I’m glad I’m not involved in any meetings these days, I’d get really frustrated if they weren’t being chaired effectively. I afraid I even got cross in the supermarket on the way home. Buying a pot of cream requires me to check at the back of the shelf for the longest use by date. To my horror (yes, I do need to get a life!) the tubs at the back had a shorter sell by date than the ones at the front. I’m afraid I felt compelled to rearrange them! I definitely couldn’t work there, I’d be driven mad if I saw such potential wastage taking place!
I must now take the plunge and buy next years car insurance. I was slightly tempted to contact our current insurer and ask them to match the other quotes I now have, but I don’t think I’d want to give them my business now anyway.
Very pleased that at least some of your health issues have been satisfactorily resolved, @Goldenlily26. Shame about the fish and chips though.

Evening folks. I survived my 12 hour shift and my feet are up now ready to watch Traitors.

I’m hoping for a sunny and mild day tomorrow so I can see some light and feel fresh air.

Take care all. May your sleep be refreshing.

A very good morning everyone. I cannot tell what it is like outside as it is still very dark. All I can hope for is a pleasant dry day bearing in mind it is our Quiz Night tonight which I am really looking foward to. We have sold all of our tickets so hopefully it will be as successful as it was last year. I wish you all a happy day with your friends, relatives and pets.

I was delighted with a single, first, one and only, so far, Morning Glory flower. It was worth waiting for. Such an intense sky blue colour, love it. It stayed open all day because it was overcast, more buds, so fingers crossed, more flowers if this benign weather continues.
Dare I say I missed the sound of the chooks crowing this morning., Very quiet. My neighbour's Dad took them to his piece of woodland yesterday. I sort of feel mean but relieved. They will be much happier with a big wood to roam in, without being harassed by bigger chickens and me!
I spent a long time sorting out the stew, picking over the carcass, dividing it into portions, labelling them and forcing them into my freezer. A big job done.
              Cleaning and the hairdresser today.
I heard an item on the news that there is a big outbreak of Covid throughout the country. Because no one is bothering to test anymore, people often do not realise they have Covid. Additionally, there are currently two strains circulating. It is quite possible to catch one, be ill for some time, then catch the second one and be ill again. Thinking it is all the same bug. I had my flu and Covid jabs last weekend, no idea if I am protected from both strains of Covid. My arms are still sore.
I stopped making clothes for myself when the price of patterns rose to extortionate levels, almost as much as the fabric. Fabric shops almost disappeared and the cost of clothes dropped
making it almost not worth the time and effort. It seems to have changed now making home dress making more worthwhile. At least you can have bespoke garments which fit properly and recycling reduces the cost.
Our club was approached by a couple who wanted to rent our spare piece of land to grow fruit and veg. Then they added putting up a polytunnel, keeping chickens, the last request was to have some beehives. We decided to put the idea to the club members as some of us had reservations about bee stings and allergic reactions. One of our members is allergic to bee stings so we have said No. The paddock has been put on the next committee agenda, no idea why. To me it now looks like a refugee camp with all of the sheds, polytunnel, coops etc., but other, non gardening people are quite happy so I will hold my counsel for now. Our current chair trys to keep the meetings to 2 hrs. more than enough time to chew the fat an dsort out issues.

I had a bit of a lie in this morning, as Gin didn't start his barking routine prompt at 8. This is the second morning, so we are making progress. They say it's only after about 6 weeks of adopting a rescue that you begin to see the real dog; well, we have a little sweetie with a stubborn streak (that's a cocker for you).
But he and Bryn are bonding, which brings a tear to my eye.

G'day. Bright and sunny here but only 19C expected cos of a naughty north easterly., a deep

Pottering this morning - sewing club project to make a felt organiser for embroidery circles. The real model involves a Sun Bonnet appliqué which is not me at all so I've cut out a lace flower and leaf motif and spray glued it on.

OH has just left for his weekend of golf, belly full of cooked breakfast for lunch as Possum is working at home today and could join us. I'm off to donate some large vaccuum coffee jugs, a deep fat fryer and a spiralizer then raid the Vietnamese store as we're out of preserved ginger and lime pickle. The fabric store isn't far away so I can do a wee raid there too for bias binding needed for a jacket I'm planning using double sided quilted Indian cotton so I need to neaten visible seams.

@Goldenlily26 I've always had a 12"/30cm difference or more twixt bust, waist and hip measurements so not shop shaped. I do buy good patterns and use them several times changing fabrics/neckline/sleeves/lengths. I've still got some I had in the 80s but I update very year too. I also now buy them half price from Sew Direct when their sale is on. You can get patterns now with cup size adjustments.

@Penny_Forthem It'll take a while for Gin to feel really secure but he seems to be doing very well.

I hope your quiz night preps and evening go well @Ladybird4.

Have some fun this afternoon everyone, if you can.

We had to buy OH some new shoes this morning. He hadn't realised that he'd left his few walking shoes in Norfolk as it was summer and he went to France in sandals. He found a very old pair in my French house and the rubber heels started to disintegrate. I think he lost one when we walked in the woods with Benny and I found one under my car's clutch pedal! I bought him some cheap shoes in a supermarket in Troyes. We went to a shoe shop in Thetford this morning only to find that it had closed down and was going to become a Mountain Warehouse. We found some black leather lace ups in a sports shop.

I've been cleaning outside woodwork, windows, doors. Insects, spiders and weather had made a right mess spoiling the new paintwork but it looks better now. There is quite a lot of clearing up to do in the garden, sweeping patios and weed killing the drive.

Kay next door who died's house is now sold. The young man who bought it came round to see us and he wants to put up a new fence which meant knocking down a bit of wall on the boundary which had been part of a shed. When he demolished the shed the wall went wobbly. We had a garden mirror on it so he has taken it down. He will be completely renovating the cottage and garden, then his mother will move in. He drives a posh looking new black Range Rover so he must be quite well off.

A very good morning one and all. Last night's quiz was a big success and we raised over £500 for Church funds. I am not used to such late nights these days - gone are the 03:00 mornings after clubbing all night - so it will be a quiet day. I do have to make a gluten free sponge for tomorrow's coffee morning though (tea loaf and parkin already prepared) so that is top of the 'to do' list.

                            Morning all.

                            That’s a big success @Ladybird4 - congratulations!

I was totally shattered yesterday and did nothing so I’m hoping that is the end of the virus now.

I’m just doing a few jobs, then will be food shopping (hate the SM on a Saturday but needs must) and then I can have some fresh air in the garden.

Have a lovely weekend all - be it with baking, gardening, socialising or just quiet.

Penny Forthem, it took me a lot longer than 6 months to get to know Rob. It was getting on for 3-4 years before I accidentally discovered the word No didn't mean a lot to him. I happened to use the phrase Stop it. Bingo! Immediate reaction. He also gave the impression of being stubborn. I eventually realised he was a naturally dominant dog and some of his stubborn traits were his way of trying to be in control. He was very reactive to other dogs, having taken on the role of protecting me. It was a long hard slog to persuade him that his behaviour was not needed.

No cleaning was achieved yesterday. I made the mistake of going down the garden. I found a few manky -looking runner beans hanging on for dear life, so I picked them. I had to throw away most of them as too beany, then I discovered ripe tomatoes in the greenhouse which needed picking and finally, decided I needed to collect the windfall apples. A laundry basket over half full. I couldn't carry the basket, so slid and dragged it, a few inches at a time, down the length of the garden, I managed to slide it into the wheelbarrow, which I jiggled and wriggled around corners of furniture, etc. to near the kitchen. I then ran out of steam.
Fortunately, my daughter called around, so I gave her a bagful of apples and am going to give my neighbour a bag full before juicing most of the rest for cider and apple juice. Not surprising I am full of stiff muscles today.
Today is going to be a dealing with apples day.

I went to the hairdresser, a senior stylist, who has done a much better job of my cut. Hopefully, I will not look as if I have been pulled through a hedge backwards any more.

I have had to book a voluntary hospital car for my ENT ap. next week. Because the letter says to allow 2 hrs for the ap., I could be charged double rate for the car, £50.00-£60.00 to compensate the driver for his time. I am still reeling from the news.

I am struggling with the knowledge the cardiac nurse has prescribed me a different BP tablet whose info., sheet says not to take with some of the tablets I am already taking.

Morning @AuntyRach and @Goldenlily26. Good to read you think you have seen the last of your virus @AuntyRach. Fingers crossed!. @Goldenlily26, I was in awe reading about your battle with the apples and then had an 'eek' moment when I read about the new BP tablet you were put on. This must be of deep concern as you obviously need your various medications and when you see a warning like that it must be quite scary. Have you any chance of chatting to a pharmacist for advice?
