      Just had a wander round today, not much looking good but took a few pictures anyway.

        Actaea Queen of Sheba is flowering - Sanguisorba lilac squirrel next to it . Finally a flower on a canna this is Australis has the best dark foliage of cannas I've grown .

        Now this is a show stopper it really pops stunning dahlia well chuffed with it. I saw it last year at Harrogate flower show and it become a must have its called Kilburn glow

                    Completely forgot this; Stachyurus praecox "Devon Purple Leaf" the Plant Review had an article recently on it's origins which boiled down to it was found in a garden in E Devon.

                        Your Amelanchier is looking good @CostasK - mine was too until the storm removed most of the leaves!
                        The rowan that the birds gave me some years ago is turning nicely though. The native one further along is still very green which is unusual for here, but it's been very mild

                            @CarolineL When the shoots emerge in springtime they are more coppery and as spring progresses it becomes more purpley.
                            Because a number of shrubs in front of it died recently it's now a lot more prominent in that bed.
                            I'm not aware of any nurseries currently listing it.
