Super view there @Busy-Lizzie. It ALMOST feels like you could dive into the pool from your room. Please don't try it!
Love the name Baguette for the little pup. Truly a 'hot dog'. One of the reasons I resigned from our social committee @Obelix-Vendée was because of a character like yours, only ours thinks she rules the roost and meetings became void of any discussion and we just get presented - always -with a fait accompli. I am much happier just getting on with the stuff I want to do and to be honest ours is not as formal as yours and there are no fees.
Hope all goes well at the Dentist tomorrow @lizzie27. I have an appointment myself next month. Signing out for today. Night night everyone and I'll see you tomorrow. I was pleased to find that the quizzes which had been moved last night because of the football, were on tonight.

Just an ordinary loon @lizzie27 and @Ladybird4, not a committee member. She never did understand anything the first, second or even third time it was explained be it fabric and thread quality, sewing techniques or anything else; thought she couldn't visit websites that had cookies so wanted us to do it for her; didn't understand deadlines for placing orders cos of delivery delays and then took offence and became very abusive to me when I refused her order after receiving it the day after I'd done the group order from a German supplier. Said she was leaving and wanted her money back then turned up for Monday's workshop!

Had a lovely time in the polytunnel this pm potting on seedlings of chervil, corander, dill and Swiss chard then blue fescue and eragrostis.

Dance class was good and we have made 2 new friends - Danish/French couple who are new to the class. Watching Bake Off now. Who knew soufflé could be so complicated?

Your view is lovely @Busy-Lizzie. Hope you both have a great time.

Hello all. Oh my goodness @Obelix-Vendée that member does sound unhinged. Do you think she might be on the dementia route? I have got a grocery delivery due this morning so I will just check my emails to make sure that there haven't been any substitutions for items. I do wish that they would offer that as a choice when you place an order. Actually, they may do somewhere and I just haven't found it yet.
I am just imagining @Busy-Lizzie and her OH waking up to that view and feeling envious!

What a view. Lucky you Lizzie.
I think I can relax for the time being. The ENT Dr. could find no sign of cancer in my throat. My GP had failed to tell me he was referring me to the throat cancer dept. I have been referred for a CT scan of lower down my throat to make sure there is nothing sinister going on further along the nerve tract. The Dr. suggested it could have been a virus, no treatment other than Speech Therapy to give me some techniques to compensate for the lack of voice. One of my vocal cords is not working100% which is making the other one work twice as hard.
The volunteer driver was amazing, so helpful, attentive, caring, almost OTT. Fortunately, because my ap. did not take 2 hrs. I only had to pay £24.00 for the fare.
Just before I left home I went into the kitchen and found splodges of brown stuff all over the kitchen floor, wall etc. I thought Poppy had had an awful 'accident'. However, when I began cleaning it up discovered the air lock in the demi john had blown out and it was apple pulp! Powerful stuff this home made cider.
I was stiff all over when I came home so fed the cat and had poached eggs on toast for dinner.
I am off to the chiropodist this morning.
Enjoy your holidays and gardening etc. all.

Good morning folks. I’m having a lazy day today.

Your holiday view looks gorgeous @Busy-Lizzie! I hope you have a lovely time.

That sounds like a positive appointment @Goldenlily26 - make sure you have a rest today.

I enjoyed Bake Off and am pretty sure I never want to make a soufflé @Obelix-Vendée!

I love the picture today @Ladybird4.

I love the name Rufus for him @Penny_Forthem - very fitting for a gorgeous ruddy-coated boy! I like Baguette for the sausage dog too!

Have a good day all. Catch you later!

Greetings. Bright and sunny here but breezy from up north so only 19C expected. I have some admin to do and then can go and play outside.

OH has been to the pharmacy to collect our flu jabs so can get to the nurses' office in good time tomorrow am and get them to sign our forms to say we're still alive to collect our pensions. We'll also ask about all the other "old people" vaccines like pneumonia, shingles booster as we've only had one and anything else that's going.

@AuntyRach I occasionally make a cheese soufflé and have been known to make twice baked smoked haddock or courgette soufflés. It's like baking a cake - follow the ingredients list and the instructions and all will be well. I also make slightly chewy meringues for pavlova but have yet to try a Vacherin and certainly wouldn't try anything like last night's creations.

@Goldenlily26 you seem to be getting a thorough but bitty going over these last few months. I hope they get your voice problem sorted.

We were just saying at patch club on Monday that 10 years ago we'd never be having discussions about failing parts and now we have several replacement knees, a hip and another to be done, loads of cataracts, one spinal surgery coming up, cancer treatments, all sorts of arthritic bits. No joke for some of us.

Thank goodness we have our gardens to keep us busy and sort of fit.

                  Hello all,

We've noticed the same at our motor club meetings, cars first then everybody's aches and pains!
We're nearly all in the same boat - as you say no fun.

Dentist checkup this morning took exactly five minutes and cost £50! The hygeniest now charges £80 so I shall refuse to have my teeth cleaned - that's extortionate.

Very overcast today so keep putting off doing something outside. I've had my exercise today by walking down to the dentist and back home so I could watch ETTC in a moment and be lazy.

Glad your ENT checkup was ok and hope the CT scan is just as negative. As AuntyRach says, have a rest today. Your tale of brown spludges made me laugh!

                    Forgot about the spludges!

A couple of years ago OH decided to use our inherited grapevine crop - small and seedy but prolific that year - to make some Pineau. Picked the grapes, bought the demijon thingies, followed a recipe then left them out in the annex.

I went in there to raid my spice drawer for a meal and found an explosion of grape spludge all over the ceiling, walls, furniture and floor. Took him ages to clean it all up.

No idea what he did wrong but he hasn't tried since.

                      Good afternoon to you all!

Lucky you @Busy-Lizzie getting a room with a view!! Looks lovely!

I'm glad your throat is clear @Goldenlily26 Ginger, lemon and honey in hot water may soothe.

My husband made wine when we were in NZ - once - never again. It was revolting!!

Late on parade as you say @Obelix-Vendée but a busy morning with a bike run and then a walk with a little one and Fizz. She has coaxed her Oma (sorry for the spelling of grandma in dutch) to buy a special leash for Fizz. It is blue with rockets on it and she keeps it in her "secret cupboard" to which, only she, has the key!! Little sister (3) has no access! Little sister wanted to come with us today as did Oma who hobbled along, so it took twice as long!

A glorious day nonetheless - we are having a golden October.

A meeting this afternoon after lunch for the after school homework help association. French meetings full of women must be seen to be believed. Not much was achieved in the 90 minutes (short) except a lot of whinging and opposition opinions. A photo at the end and not a cup of tea or a sconie in sight!!

Going to give Fizz a brush and comb and cut out some of the knotty bits. I may water the brassicas and celery.

Enjoy the rest of the day and evening! Here is a picture nearly - of Rufus!

We took ourselves to our local B and M today. When it first opened it was Do it All depot and it had a fantastic wall sculpture, which everyone said would be vandalised within a week. Several years on, it hasn't and welcomes you to the pile it high, sell it cheap store. I hate it! But it does scratch an itch.
First stop, daff bulbs for the caravan site...and some for home :dbgrtmb:
Second stop, dog training treats :yay:
Third, well, it goes downhill from here.
But we did buy dishwasher tabs, which weren't on the list!

Good evening all. I was pleased to read about your throat results @Goldenlily26 even though they haven't quite got to the bottom of the voice loss. I too smiled at the apple splodges all over your kitchen. I remember my brothers going through a phase of wine making. The only success they had was with banana wine which actually tasted like sherry and was very quaffable. We luckily missed the jets of exploding air locks on demijohns but I do remember my Grandma making soup in our kitchen in Mum's pressure cooker. Grandma didn't realise that you had to de-pressurise the pot and tugged the pressure valve off the lid with a carving fork. The resultant fountain of vegetable soup managed to hit the ceiling in the kitchen causing we children much hilarity but Grandma and Mum were unimpressed as they had a lot of cleaning up to do. Grandma never went near the pressure cooker again.

Evening folks. Just waiting for oven to beep… sausages, roast root veg and greens. And gravy of course.

I love those bargain shops for stuff you didn’t know you needed! I need to go this week for some household cleaning bits.

Enjoy the evening folks. Traitors anyone? I have Traitors pyjamas! Mine are the Faithful ones and my niece has the traitor ones. It’s rubbish really but we all love it in our family: age 8 to 80!

I felt guilty today - well for all of 5 seconds - as I noticed the leaves from my purple Acer are all over my neighbour's lawn. It is Autumn after all. I am signing out for today. Bin's out, milk bottle's out there is nothing I particularly want to watch on TV so I am off to read. Good night everyone and I'll see you in the morning.
