Dunno @lizzie27. I've never tried digging one out and didn't know their roots travelled either till one of ours did.

Good morning all. Well Cricket didn't get the memo about the hour change and despite acres of room on the bed decided that lying on me was far better. At least I didn't get a head massage today. That is an amazing pic of your Dad @Penny_Forthem. How fashions change!

        Morning all.

I think you'll need a stump killer on your wisteria, @lizzie27 . When our son & family moved in to his current house, they found that a "gardener" had been employed by the vendors to cut everything down to the ground. Two years later, a wisteria appeared next to the wall, and is now trying to take over. Fortunately, they like it...

Must keep an eye on the time. The extra hour gives a false sense of security, and our church service starts at 9.45 this morning...

Must be the start of half term; it's pouring. My family are 'glamping' for the weekend, somewhere in mid Wales. They have a heater in the pod.
The forecast for mid week in Llanberis is dire, but as we're not attempting Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), we can hunker down in the hotel. I must find my plug in 'hot water bottle' to take with me.
Hopefully, nothing more energetic than a run with the dogs this afternoon.

Just as well I changed the hour on my mobile phone last night. Nearly all our house clocks are radio controlled but dont necessarily have a strong enough signal to change during the night. The house phone is still showing summer time, so I’ll have to reset that manually.
At least when I change the hour on my wristwatch, I can rest the date at the same time! It’s still a day out since the ‘30 days hath September.’ It’s a bit of a fiddle so I do tend to leave it, which is silly, as I do rely on it in the supermarket when I’m checking use by dates. At least our current car changes the hour itself, the old one was out by an hour for half the year!
A lovely sunny morning here but forecast to cloud over soon. Green bins this week, but I don’t know when I’ll get to fill them. My wrist is no better after nearly four weeks, despite the tubular bandage and trying to rest it, so I’m basically one handed. I will try tomorrow to get an appointment with the physiotherapist at our gp practice. He was very effective at getting my sore hip investigated and exercises prescribed, and seems to be quicker to access than a GP. Whatever I do today, I will wear a glove on my left hand as a reminder not to use it!

I wore my watch so little last year that I found myself correct again in March when we went forward @Ergates. I need to change the clock in my sewing room as it' sthere to remind me when I need to stop and cook and the 2 ovens too but OH does the clock on the kitchen wall and everything else knows.

Have spent my morning faffing with orders for special linen for a club embroidery project and the threads needed then doing an order for me too. We do global orders where possible to cut out P&P and gain fidelity points which we use for club stuff. Quite profitable for us.

No gardening today other than checking my seedlings and cuttings. We were supposed to be cold and wet but it's actually mostly sunny and quite warm now with all rain gone away till friday, maybe. I still have things to sew before tomorrow's workshop so i'll have a gardening day on Tuesday. I have 6 new strawberries to plant and still the bulbs and pansies to get in.

Have a lovely day whatever you're doing. i hope the weather doesn't spoil plans for anyone.

                Good morning all.

Sunny but cold here. It was only 3° when we got up. At least we could have a lie in before 9.30 church but I wish we could keep summer time. What is the point of being light at 6.30am and dark in the late afternoon? It spoils gardening time!

I have ironing to do and I must sort out the bottom shelf in the fridge. It's full of opened jars.

Oh dear folks, wisteria that refuses to die doesn't sound good to me. I was going to use stump killer but might have a cautious dig around to see what the roots are like first. OH is going to chop down the remaining thick branches I couldn't manage yesterday......when he's finished reading the paper.

Sorry to hear that your wrist is no better @Ergates, have you tried Volterol on it? I had to use it on my shoulder this morning as I overdid the pruning yesterday. Hope you get a quick appointment with the physio.

My sister and her friend have just come back from a week down near Fishguard, staying in an old Welsh cottage down a long track. They enjoyed it and toured as many castles as they could get to.

                    Agree about keeping summertime @Busy-Lizzie.

No sewing yet as I got distracted by the order for the patch club. We've got a monochrome embroidery workshop coming up and it needs special linen fabric and pearlised cotton threads in two weights. The threads site is a rabbit hole full of other delightful goodies for my own personal use.

Lunch time after that and now I have Possum's keto breakfasts in the oven - muffin tins filled with a bacon, egg and cheese mix and some seasoning. I freeze them and she heats one up each work day. Have to bake a courgette and apricot cake for tomorrow but that can wait till later.

Good luck with that wisteria @lizzie27 but maybe letting some grow back wouldn't be so bad as you can tame it as it grows. Think of all that lovely colour and perfume in May.

I agree, @Busy-Lizzie and @Obelix-Vendée about the lack of light in the afternoon being a pain for gardeners. There's apparently been a discussion in the EU about abolishing "daylight saving", but they're not going ahead with it because too many countries disagree. There would certainly be confusion in the island of Ireland if the change happened in the EU but the UK kept the old system. Timetables for buses & trains which cross the border are complicated enough already.

Wet and grey today, so I've a number of indoor jobs (and some knitting) lined up. Hope you all have a relaxing Sunday.

@Liriodendron A study by Stanford university indicates that daylight saving - changing the clocks twice a year for anyone in doubt - actually causes strokes and obesity as our natural circadian rhythms are disrupted. Maybe that would convince politicians to stick to one time zone all year and preferably GMT+1 for the UK and Ireland and GMT+2 for Europe. It does seem daft that we are 2 hours ahead in summer when the sun is only 10 minutes or so behind but I do like the longer evenings and sunrise comes early enough in summer anyway.

I think some of you may have short memories.
They tried staying on summertime in the mid 1970's. The problem for the uk is that anywhere north of Newcastle, it won't get daylight much before 10 am in the morning. Many more accidents school children at higher risk etc, etc. Even in the south on GMT in midwinter it's only just light by around 8am if it's a dull wet day.
I too enjoy the long light evenings in summer, but you are never going to please everyone whatever you do.

                            Afternoon all.

I hate the dark evenings but being slightly lighter in the morning is safer for school times/rush hour so that’s probably the best argument. Of course, Winter only has so many hours of daylight which ever way you cut it. We could compromise and go half an hour?? Hehe.

I hope everyone is doing ok. I’ve had a quiet weekend but did nip to MIL to do her pedicure today. I’ll be doing Dad’s tomorrow. I have found a gap in the market as salons just do nail pamper/painting, chiropodists just do filing/cutting and carers just do washing feet and nurses do dressings… so if you need a mixture of the above, there isn’t a service.

There's definitely a market in that gap @AuntyRach.
It's been a long day and not sure if I can stay up till 10.30 (was 11.30 in old money).
Weaning the dogs onto the new time isn't easy.
We have strong winds forecast tonight but no weather warning, which is strange.
Better go and heat up the tray for the Yorkies. Weaning my tum onto the new time hasn't been easy either!!

Good afternoon everyone. I realised when I set out for church this morning that the only clock I had failed to alter was the one in my car. I would love to know why my car's clock didn't adjust automatically. Anyway, its been done so fingers crossed I haven't forgotten any. Tea/Coffee morning went well and I didn't get home until after midday. It rained the whole time so no chance to do anything in the garden. I was pleased I had got my washing done yesterday and that my tender plants are now under shelter. I really would like to get out tomorrow so I'm hoping for no or little of the wet stuff.
@Penny_Forthem, you are right, the rugrats are on half term so at least the roads are a little more quiet. I tell you what I have noticed for the first time this year and maybe some of you have noticed it too, but Bonfire Night, here at least, has paled into insignificance alongside a huge increase in fuss and hype about Halloween. It maybe that this is not unusual and I have been oblivious in the past but it has really hit me this year. Normally by now I would have been hearing the occasional firework but nothing so far.
I have never attempted growing a wisteria and I'm sort of glad now that I haven't. I think what put me off was the fact I might have to wait several years before getting any kind of a luscious display that I have seen on well established plants. I do love them though.
Sorry that your wrist is still problematic @Ergates. My arthritic right hand often frustrates me when I cannot do even the most basic of tasks. This is why I keep knitting to try and prevent a complete seize up.
