Took some cutting today and filled up the aeroponic propagator first run with this.

Getting my Winter project in motion rebuild the front wall, I've been and collected some large walling stones today and ordered materials yesterday. Years ago council took part of the front garden for a wheelie bin bay I never needed , it's infuriated me for years losing half of one side of planting space. Probably upset some of the neighbours who turn they vechiles round here but that's not my problem they is a turn circle at the end. I'll remove the fence it not got much life in it, easier access to work in the borders.
This is what it looks like now

I used to joke to my girls about making bread to clean my hands too @CarolineL ! When I was making some recently, it reminded me of that.
I'm getting better about wearing gloves, but sometimes you just can't get the feel of something properly if you're wearing them. I mainly use them for the bigger, dirtier jobs but for seed swoing or doing cuttings, it's no use.
Yesterday was sunny annd windy all day, so good for grafting. I was moving and sorting hoses, and did my honeysuckle too. The excess compost from my older bin was put along the foot of the new hedging along the back fence. A little bit of pot painting done, ready for some bulbs arriving soon. We didn't get to double figures, but I sat on the bench for a little while, and it was sheltered as the wind was coming from the north rather than the usual west. Very nice in the sun, but a couple of layers needed for sitting.
Today is to be wet later on, so after my walk, I'll be doing that thing you do indoors...housewick, or something...

Are you going to rebuild the wall back into it's original position @Perki

I meant to ask about your wall too @Perki . That's a decent project you've got lined up!
            Hope it goes well.

              Hi,

Pigeons were a major problem using the oak tree branches as toilet seats bombing everything beneath; every morning it was a clean up job; patio; pathway; steps and handrails; all messed up.

              Oak tree_581.JPG
              Problem solved.

              Little Gems_414.JPG
This is much better; just little presents left in fresh soil.

It's unlikely I'll do anything in the garden today; everything's neat and tidy so I think it's going to be a violin practice playing with my new toys.

              Kind regards, Col.

Yes it will be a long rectangle again not L shape all the flagged area and some of the tarmac, might be able to see the line I've already cut in the tarmac. I've not built a mortared wall this large before normally build dry stone walls, have to put concrete footing in otherwise the wall will move and crack it. Also planning on building two small pillars for the entrance with planters on top.

Nothing happening in the garden today as we have to clear our bedroom ready for the decorator who is starting tomorrow. Last room in the bungalow to be revamped, waited long enough as we've been here over three years now. It was full-on for the first couple of years and we ran out of steam (and cash!).

It's mostly bright and sunny here with occasional large clouds passing but no rain forecast before Friday. It was supposed to be getting cold but we're now set to stay in double figures, even at night, for the next 10 days so I won't be moving treasures to the polytunnel as planned for today.

I shall limit myself to checking all the potted on seedlings and cuttings are OK and then get on with sewing deadlines.

No major projects at the mo, unlike @Perki and @Retired but I did drop a plan for an arbour in OH's not so delicate ear the other day and it didn't go ballistic. Have to creep up slowly sometimes.

Have you cleared it with the council, I'm not sure of the circumstances regarding the wall if the council moved it originally
If there is a chance of upsetting neighbours it's probably best to get permission.

I was planning to just cut down the finished raspberries, but on the way to them spotted the tomatoes that also needed removing. And to get better access to them I needed to cut back some goji berry and thornless blackberry. So it turned into quite a big clear up in which I also removed the last of the courgette plants and took advantage of the soft ground to dig up two thornless blackberries and a giant bramble (thorns like rose thorns, main stem at least twice the thickness of my thumb). And I also rounded up a load of tools I'd left lying around, which was OK during all the dry summer but now they are gently rotting.

The goji berry will be a gone-ji berry as soon as the sunflowers stop flowering and I can get in there to dig it up. Horrible, ugly, sprawling thing. Produced a few tiny fruit this year but they didn't ripen. This will leave a nice sunny space into which I'm planning to plant a plum or gage tree.

Thanks for the warning @infradig, I've had many before and know those canny tactics! Fortunately, the pigeons here are too stupid to negotiate contracts with magpies .

Clearing away my tomatoes, cucumbers etc. They might have kept going a bit longer. Am I the only one who is silly enough to feel rather sad for the plants having given such lovely produce only to be hauled out. Seems ungrateful. I need to get the greenhouse cleared so I ….who am I kidding! …my daughter can clean the greenhouse. I’d die in the attempt trying to scrub the roof, she on the other hand is a wee pocket rocket and makes a fine job. Am I lucky or what!

I've asked OH to get the handsaws out and cut down the remaining wisteria branches which are too thick for me to manage but at the moment he's reading the paper........

After he's done that and weather permitting I need to shovel up all the mortar the builders dropped at the base of the wall before I have a cautious dig around to locate the wisteria's roots.

I do have an existing GJ rose in the back garden and yes, it does want grow tall and a bit straggly - needs firm control! I tend to hard prune it occasionally to keep it in check. The new bed varies between 5ft to 6ft high and I've left the wisteria's vine eyes/wire in so I can tie any wayward shoots of GJ if need be.
