I have a fair few of these scattered about the garden, left in places I attempt not to lose them! 2 became blocked after a fair few years of use. After some twisting and turning I managed to get the yellow end off one of them and discovered the mechanism inside was pretty blocked and got it cleared. Worked fine afterwards. The 2nd 1 I cannot undo. I am beginning to think it was pure luck the first one twisted off. I have not given it “ big beans” as likely to break it but as it stands it is b all use so might get a bit more serious with it unless there is a technique to unscrewing the damned end. Hope someone has a smart suggestion other than stick it in the bin:). Thanks.

No I do not have one hanging about . That certainly would do the job. I am on a private water supply ( glorious water with no added horrors like chlorine that I can taste if having to suffer town water, yuk).Occasionally the supply gets blocked with something like a dead frog ( what the eye does not see!!). A pal with a huge compressor comes over and blasts up the pipe, sorted! I will keep the gun I cannot undo until he come round again.
In 25 years of living here nobody has ever had tummy troubles from our water, I would loathed to have to start drinking mains again after all this time having the luxury of unadulterated with or without the odd bit of frog!

Could you try soaking the whole thing in very hot water, it may soften the plastic enough for you to then be able to unscrew it? Otherwise I'd just chuck it, they are not that expensive.

So you think its probably got a few tadpoles or a bit frog might be blocking it.
In cases like this I just assume its pretty useless as it is, so if you break it getting it apart it wont matter.

Think I know what you mean, will try the boiling water first and might do the job but thanks for thesuggestion. Very restrained from you, I would have expected some smart remark “near the knuckle”:)

I’m Scottish, we are not mean just canny! If something can be fixed we tend to try to mend rather than buy new, leaves more money to buy a decent bottle of whisky:)

How about spraying around the joint with silicone polish? I used it to get things moving eg tracks for vertical blinds, and any plastic to plastic contact

Talking of decent bottles of whisky, I actually had to pay for one this week, downright cheek I call it.:roflol:
And again it still had the security cap on, but they hid it in a box so I didn't see it until the delivery driver had gone.
              Hacksaw job yet again.

At £7.84 you might be spending more money on trying to fix it. I had an interesting chat with a marine engineer. He told me he makes more money from people who call him in to fix a repair the owner has tried to fix. He has to undo their botched job then start from scratch so his fee is double what it would have been had he been called in straight away.
