I had the chatty chiropodist this morning, who goes on amazing holidays (think hotels on the Grand canal in Venice and glass domes in Lapland).
Well, she lived up to expectations; her hub had just phoned to tell her he has tickets for the very last Andrea Bocelli concert in Florence next year. I think she was excited!
They've just come back from a hotel with Michelin restaurants in Tenerife.
Then we went out for lunch; there was a Rufus lookalike at the next table, handsome devil!

I have done what I wanted to do today, finished the ironing in front of Celebrity Traitors (just the final left to watch) and made nearly 8 jars of marmalade. Dinner party is all cleared up, Cedric did the washing up as usual and I wiped the mats and polished the table.

Good evening all. I passed on Canasta as I expected. It has been grim all day here and the temperature has dropped but I did managed to finish another little snowman. Tonight it is wall to wall Children in Need on TV - another teary night so I am signing out early. Wishing you all pleasant evenings and I'll see you all tomorrow.

Can't bear all the big charity events on TV so we won't be watching Children in Need tho we do hope they do well and applaud all the people doing challenges to raise money.

I am in the doghouse with Possum. Home made pork and apple burgers for dinner. No buns, just rösti and salads, except I forgot all about the rösti. Oops. Good burgers tho so half forgiven.

Your chiropodist sounds amusing @Penny_Forthem tho all that flying about sounds exhausting.

We had some unplanned winds this pm so I stayed indoors and did patchwork homework for my tuto. Tomorrow's rain has come back on the forecast. I think they know less than me about reading the local weather so I'll plan my weekend gardening after looking out the window tomorrow.

A peaceful evening to you all.

Good morning all. Well VM wrecked all my plans last night as at 19:00 I lost both my TV and my internet so I missed Gardeners World. A half hour discussion on the phone then occurred and I was told that my box was outdated and needed replacing. Why I could not have been informed of this before it crashed I will never know. Cutting a long story short, a date for an engineer visit was agreed for Tuesday 18th 08:00 - 12:00. Final annoyance, I got a text confirming the engineer's visit on MONDAY 17th 12:00 - 16:00! Couldn't you just scream?
Then, I get up this morning and everything is back to normal (?) I will not say anything until the engineer has been on what ever day he turns up.
Have a lovely day everyone!

How very irritating, @Ladybird4. Good that you appear to have everything working again, albeit temporarily. We had to wait two and a half days for a new box and connector to arrive, to find out that it wasn’t the problem! Then another two and a half days for an engineer. Sorry you missed gardeners World, OH missed the Grand Prix, and I missed a Zoom meeting with the ‘girls’ I went to school with! We were also originally told that although they thought it was the connector at fault , they would send a new box at the same time, as the old ones were out of date, and they were gradually sending out new replacements anyway.
I wonder if there was a local problem that affected you, nothing to do with your own home set up? We once lost our phone connection because an engineer working in the box up the road had disconnected us by mistake. Having seen inside one of the boxes, it’s a wonder anything works! Looks like a nightmare knitting basket after several cats have been playing in there with chainsaws.

My mission this weekend is to try to do some leaf removal from anywhere on the lawn. Hope to burn some leaves. Still trying to find a company to come help. Later.

Well the incessant rain finally stopped last night thank goodness and today's been dry but gloomy. OH went off in the old Austin for a rally in the dark tonight (they're all mad!) so I did our usual walk - through the orchard which smelt wonderfully cidery from all the fallen apples! The brook was in full pelt with lots of debris swept down but the farm lane was passable much to my surprise.

Then I pottered round the garden doing odd jobs although the lawns were far too soggy to walk on. Spent a couple of hours outside before lunch so I was well pleased. I have forgotten to take down a fence basket with Begonia 'Illuminations', a very pretty one which I want to over-winter so must do that tomorrow as it's just about finished flowering.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your TV/internet @Ladybird4, probably storm/rain related if it's ok today. GW was good so worth watching on iplayer if you can.

I'm glad I haven't got your leaf problem @redstar! Hope you find somebody to help.

Busy day today. Finished my book then hit the kitchen. Swiss almond and poppy seed cake made for Monday, onion and lardons frittata made for lunches this coming week and crème brulée still to make when we decide what flavour. I find vanilla ones boring so now we're discussing alternatives - lemon, ginger or coffee. Decisisons, decisions.

Our three citrus plants have been taken down to the polytunnel, de-potted, compost refreshed and re-potted. The Meyer lemon and the Limquat are heaving with fruits and flowers but nothing doing on the yuzu so I've had words.

One of our two remaining chooks died a few days ago and the remaining one is not only very greedy, thinking every time I go in the polytunnel she'll get a treat of sunflower seeds but also likes to help which is mostly comical. We'll be adopting some more next weekend to keep her company.

Hope your TV reception behaves this weekend @Ladybird4. GW is repeated over the weekend so you can catch up. I have it recorded so I can watch it without muttering from t'other pair.

The forecast now says we'll get soaked tomorrow @lizzie27 but should then stay dry most of the week so i'll get the rest of my bulbs in next week and we can, finally, start laying the wood chip mulch we had delivered late last year.

I did catch up with GW today and it was very interesting but I am still not convinced about grasses. I am really not that keen. I did a bit of pottering in the garden and garage today but the garden is like a bog. There was another cat visiting Cricket today for a chase up and down the garden. This time it was an almost black cat with little white feet. I've not seen it before but they seemed to be having fun. It fled when it spotted me heading down the garden.

                        Hello all.

We are now in a hotel near the Kent coast. Friend's party tonight. The mist and drizzle was horrible on the way, lifted when we got to Kent but by then it was dark.

Remember me telling you about interesting holidays?
My cousin's Bil and partner are in the Caribbean (they live in Canada) and went on a catamaran trip. Guess who was on it?
Well, I could make you all guess, but it'd be a sacrifice and there may be crocodiles a'rockin!!
I got photos of the man in question. Wouldn't have recognised him 'au natural'.
Mum and Dad lived opposite his father in the late 80s
