    And they never have subtitles.
How are you supposed to know what's going on.

That's the House of Commons for you.
Opera, on the other hand, in many places has surtitles over the stage sometimes in English or the language of the opera and sometimes both.
The ENO has always sung in English and now comes with English surtitles.

        Hi,

My friend isn't visiting after all this afternoon so I'm free to resume hostilties against the couch grass but after two solid days and nights of heavy rain I might have a problem unaided by 5C; I dislike feeling cold.

Couch grass is terrible to eradicate but I'm ready for the fight. It's highly unwelcome in my garden.:wallbanging:

Opera; YUKKKKK. Give me songs I can understand not just noise like someone being strangled.

        Kind regards, Col.

I've been continuing the seemingly never ending job of raking leaves.

One sad thing today in the garden is the demise of the tree that was supporting our Clematis montana. It uprooted itself in the strong winds last night.

While moving stuff from A to B I noticed that the Dahlia campanulata flowers are opening, D imperialis has flower buds on it. Also that Daphne bhohula "Darjeeling" is coming into flower and that Viburnum farreii has finished flowering.

I finished the bulb planting marathon this morning.
All in pots and containers of various sizes and shapes. Yesterday while emptying other things I moved the Cannas and pineapple lillies into the greenhouse. A marked drop in temperature now, but only to the seasional average according to the weather people, so not exeptional.

I also did more leaf clearing. Hopefully the forecasted cold weather might encourage the rest to drop.

This afternoon I painted my newly installed stretch of wooden fencing which replaced some chainlink fencing. It took 3 hours to do two coats. The trunk of the rowan now stands out as do the Phormiums so I think it's an improvement :). My neighbour’s laurel hedge won’t encroach as much either. Photos show the fence newly installed and painted. (I’ve cleared the leaves too!).

More autumnal jobs. It's the anti-bingo wings weather with constant jacket on- jacket off- repeat exercise

Pelargoniums got ripped out and moved to greenhouse raised bed, they might or might not survive. I have cuttings for insurance. Begonias got the same treatment rather optimistically, they are fibrous root type rather than corm ones so chances are pretty slim- but with the odd winters nowadays it's worth a try.

Gathered up all pots requiring mollycoddling into the GH. Now I have spare pots and room on the patio for my bulbs. :)

Indoors, the tiled and painted back step is now dry so my thorny friends were moved back to their home, which is a relief. Bumping into these all over the living room was rather interesting.

First night of sheltering a few things in the garage, so it was the 4 o'clock burst of exercise. Late enough so they don't lose a lot of daylight time, but early enough so I can see what I'm doing.

Have also swaddled the outside taps to keep them cosy till March.

@Plantminded is it ok to paint now please? I need to give a shed some extra painting, and I didn't do it because I thought the damp air might affect it. But if I don't do it while it's "dry", it'll be months before the weather becomes properly good enough.
