Morning. A very disturbed night for OH, so I decamped to the small spare room, but then I was cold, so found another duvet. He's supposed to have a phone consultation at 9.30, but, surprise surprise, no phone call...yet.
I'd be concerned about your lift, too @Ladybird4
I've got my new heated poncho working; the little USB power pack can charge from my laptop. They are saying that this winter will be a very cold one and I intend staying as warm as possible!

We've had a "cloud flair" in Paris all morning and half the pm so have onlyLate on parade today as, after a disturbed and twitchy night, I finally slept till 11am. I was so tired yesterday I thought I'd go out like a light. Bright and sunny this morning but cold and a mere 8C, out of the wind, to look forward to this pm. Last of the bulbs for me.

I hope your OH is OK today @Penny_Forthem. I resort to thermal undies and ski socks and extra layers as needed.

I too would be worried about that driver @Ladybird4 - bad enough driving himself after beers but not acceptable when he knows he has passengers. Apart from anything else he surely negates his insurance in the event of an accident whether at fault or not.

No TV in our bedroom @Ergates but we watched Burlesque before bed. That is, Possum and I did. OH had been out in the sun and wind all day playing golf so faded away to bed. He's out again dealing with cutting up long stems of ash and hawthorn and bramble removed from our hedge. I'm about to join him but planting, not chopping.

Double dance class this evening so not exerting myself too much.

Cloud flare here too @Obelix-Vendée. Been quite extensive I think - not sure this will send…

Having a quiet day but did a bit in the garden before it started drizzling. I think there’s just one more garden waste collection before the Winter break.

Heated poncho sounds good @Penny-forthum - I have a heated blanket for the sofa.

I hope everyone is doing ok.

I am currently watching with some trepidation a very, very large and very black cloud sailing overhead. There's lighter sky behind it but it looks extremely ominous!

However, earlier today we had brilliant sunshine, a tad on the chilly side but nothing like the temps in the North. Did a lot more leaf clearing, mainly off my border under the trees - so many leaves! Took about 6 large trugfuls up to the leaf bin so that's my exercise for the day.

I've just a message from the surgery telling me that my lovely young GP, Harry, is leaving so I will be assigned another one in December. That's a shame because I got on well with him, although he looked as young as my grandson!

Umm, what's a cloud flare please? New one on me.

Hope you OH is ok now @Penny_Forthem.

What a dreadful man @Ladybird4 and awkward for you as you had no option in order to get home. Glad the water system is ok now.

            Afternoon all!

I believe the Cloudflare problem was international, to do with some technical problem of their own. I had to look them up to find out what they do... something to do with internet security. I'm not much wiser, being a dinosaur...

Thanks for the leaf clearing suggestion, @Busy-Lizzie . I've used the mower in the past, but thought this time that the grass was too long, and it and the leaves too wet, for it to work. But today was windier and dry, so I gave it a go - result pretty good, I'm happy to say, though the poor little mower complained a bit!

I'm irritated to find that my attempts to alter my diet to lower my cholesterol to acceptable levels have failed, and I have to take statins. I suppose it makes sense, though, since my dad died of a heart attack. Also need to change my osteoporosis medication because the alendronic acid is making my hair fall out. :ouch1: Getting old is a pain (sometimes literally!).

I don't know what a cloud flare is either @lizzie27.

We had the first frost of the winter this morning. The morning was cold and sunny. I went out for a walk this afternoon, still cold but cloudy.

It's been a quiet day. We had no plans and not done much.

I too would have been worried above your driver and the beer @Ladybird4.

It's confusing about Cloudflare. My immediate thought was that a cloud flare was a weather phenomenon until I looked it up on the internet... :noidea:

Can you avoid having to take a lift again with the drinker, @Ladybird4 ? I'd be very wary.

@Liriodendron, I started taking statins a year ago because of heart problems in the family and am pleased to say my cholesterol levels have dropped and that I do not seem to have any adverse side affects.

I stopped taking alendronic acid tablets after 15 years on them for osteoporosis because they made my life a misery with digestion problems. I feel so much better without them. My latest bone scan was borderline and nobody read the riot act.

That's good news, @lizzie27 - thank you. My doc is replacing the alendronic acid with an injection (in the stomach, oh joy!) of something different, only once every 6 months. Hope it works... I'm glad that your bone scan was ok.

3C this morning, so a day at home. Had to go up in the loft to identify where the new telephone cable will go when they finally arrive to install it. Don’t like it up there! It is a very low pitched roof, so need to walk bent over. We can only do a short visit at a time, otherwise our backs complaint, and it was my turn.
I spent the rest of the morning trying to work out what is happening with OH’s Tesco pay as you go tariff, which is changing. I’m not exactly thick, but making head or tail of it is beyond me! The bit I’m stuck on is how we actually pay for it, which I’d have thought would be the bit they would make as easy as possible!
I’ve ended up with a real headache, and am still none the wiser. Looks like I’ll have to actually phone up and talk to someone in their help department. Annoying, as I prefer to read through the terms, and instructions, rather than getting put through to someone with an accent I can’t understand.

I’ve been taking statins since last year, no noticeable side effects, and my cholesterol levels did drop. I just started taking turmeric, black pepper and Vit D tablets. No immediate ill effects, so we shall see.
No gardening, although I did transfer a pile of leaves into next weeks green bin. There wasn’t room for them last week, so they were left to add after the bins were emptied. It took ages, as I was worried that a toad might have set up home in it. I had to gently spread out the leaves to make sure I didn’t scoop anyone up, otherwise it would have taken me a few minutes!
Dark cold and miserable here now. I think it might be an early night again!
That’s pretty unfair of your lift to drink and drive, even worse with passengers relying on him to get them home. It would be sensible to make other arrangements somehow, (and tell him and the other passengers, and if you can’t then attend, your team members, why) Not worth risking your life, I'm afraid.

                          Good morning to you all.

Nice today. In fact, we are getting sunny weather until the weekend. Sunny and cold - that's the sort of winter weather I can handle - mind you it was rosy cheek weather on the bike this morning as we have a keen Tramontane!! Fizz's sort of weather too. We haven't had our assistant this week as the family are having a short getaway.

Sorry about your loss @Ladybird4 - a little worrying to be getting

Homework help day later today. Apparently, there is a short video to be made as part of the village programme of volunteer work.

I wrote this post this morning and wanted to post around lunchtime - impossible and got lots of out of focus very large smiley faces on here, so I clocked out thinking I was maybe getting hacked. Cloud flair - okay. Makes sense.

I hope you all have a pleasant evening!!

Good evening all. Well there is a big empty space in my front room now and I was seriously worried that the man who came for the tank and his partner would kill themselves getting the tank into their car. They managed it eventually and drove off. The partner and a friend returned an hour later to pick up the base and all the gravel (which also weighed a ton!) and the job is now done. Its amazing how big my living room looks now but what was highlighted by the tank's removal was the wall where I had only painted where I could reach! I feel a decorating job looming.
I can assure you all that I will never travel with that team member again. The chap I usually travel with never drinks alcohol when he is driving.

No idea what caused it @lizzie27 but it blocked access to many sites and we eventually got a banner on our PCs saying "CLOUD FLAIR - PARIS" which explains my spelling and thinking it was only local ish.

OH says we had a frost on the cars this morning but it's been a fairly sunny tho cold day so pleasant enough. Looks like it'll be another cold night as we have clear skies and stars now. I dug out my warmest winter coat for going to dance class as finish at 10pm. English waltz and then salsa so hot stuff, literally, and light clothing.

Didn't do much outside in the end today, just checked all my babies in the polytunnel, sorted out the hen's food and brought in the big feeder for a through cleaning and a fix to make it suspendable again. Having it on the floor has led to a mice invasion so that all needs sorting out before we pick up some new rescue hens on Saturday.

Have fun with your paint colours @Ladybird4 and maybe a chance to re-arrange furniture.

I've been looking at metal screens for my new terrace area - if it ever gets built. Found some I like in anthracite grey coated aluminium. 2m x 1m. Reduced from 125€ to 92€ on one site. Then found an organic/eco site selling exactly the same thing for 225€ and then, finally, the manufacturer's site selling them for 89€. Bizarre.

                                Sweet dreams all.
