Because it was a plant I wanted, like I say, I very rarely buy a plant online, and this the reason, had I seen this on sale in a garden centre I would have said no way, for the price, even without the P&P, the P&P is just adding insult to injury.

Sorry to hear that @pete, you should complain.
I must say I've had lovely plants on line, so I suppose it depends where you order from.

Which company was it @pete ?

Agree with @Michael Hewett , definitely complain. Serious companies are quick to send a replacement for free, so if the first contender happens to survive you have 241 as they say in Newcastle coctail circles

I have always had success and so far all of the sad first deliveries have recovered, it's just that I'm not paying full price for a less than perfect or a bit iffy plant so am complaining if the quality is not what expected. :paladin:

Suttons, £10 for the plant plus three packets of seed, that are yet to arrive.
            £28.45 for the lot.:roflol:

Definitely worth complaining now @pete . By the time you find out if it's dead or not, it'll be too late. Take photos and send them to Suttons.

Its alive, I'm guessing just deciduous, but looks like the top was cut off some time ago and there is some dieback.

If the plant doesn't look worth the money, it's still worth complaining.

If it doesn't survive I have a self seeded one that I can let you have, found a week or so back when pruning a buddleja back.

Recent;y I complained after I received the Loropetalum Chinese Black. It came well packaged but some dodo squoshed it into the box and snapped one of the stems, which I repaired with a cloth sticky bandage. The company (in Italy) said what do I think a reasonable discount and I said if I saw it in a Garden Center I would expect 25% so I got that off the plant and post ... I should have said 30%!. The plant is recuperating well.

Well I sent an email to Suttons yesterday evening and got a reply this morning, an apology and an assurance that they will send me another plant.

You cant say fairer than that, so good response from them.

I assume the plants are sent direct from one of their suppliers so until someone complains they assume everyone is happy.

                          Since there isn't a thread for a plant 'non-purchase' I thought I'd put it here ...
I was in B&M Bargains and saw they had some Ficus ginseng for sale. Since mine has died (didn't bring it into the house last winter [IMG]) I thought I'd buy one, but when I saw they were £15 I changed my mind ...
I keep wanting to go back to get one ! [IMG]
