Good morning everyone. I woke up to the first serious frost of this season today. I just remembered last night that I needed to get my outdoor tap's polystyrene cover out of the garage and get it in place and boy am I glad I got that done looking around (briefly) whilst I brought in my milk. I will be taking it very carefully, driving to my Bestie's this morning and I won't be hanging around too long after I have had my hair done. I hope that everyone is warm and safe.

      Morning.

Snow is falling, all around me……you can’t see it on the picture but there are big flakes falling as I type.

Good morning @Songbird. I hope that you don't get too much of the white stuff. It is a cold start here but at least there is sunshine and blue skies. I am leaving now and off to Bestie's. Catch up with you all later.

Whole garden covered now @Ladybird4 and we have to venture out in a bit to the SM. Son is apparently having trouble getting his children to school as the car is skidding about. Bitterly cold too.

            Good morning all.

We had to get up early today. Now we are at the hospital waiting to see an eye surgeon about Cedric's inturned eyelashes. Cedric has just had an eye test.

Frost at home but there was snow on the verges of the A11.

No snow here, just bright blue sky!
              I'll take that.
I meant to say for @lizzie27, yesterday, that the hearse was followed by a cortege of stunning classic cars. My late cousin's hub has a mini previously owned by DJ David Hamilton, which once sported the number plate D1 DDY. Long gone and probably worth more than the car!
Someone coming to take a look at the wish dosher this morning. It's only 17 months old.
              Take care out there, everyone.

Bright and sunny here, but got done to nearly 0C during the night. There is a bit of frost on the grass in the shady bits. The Openreach guys have arrived, and are braving the cold to dig a trench across the front garden. The engineers had marked up a route to the house which we were a bit worried about, as it passed very near the roots of one of our biggish trees. The men here now very sensibly took one look, and have proposed an alternative route across the lawn. Seem to be making good progress.
Glad that the funeral went well, @Penny_Forthem.
                Stay safe, @Songbird.

                  Good afternoon all,

You will feel exhausted @Penny_Forthem and I hope you’ll be able to have a restful day today.

Well, we had snow this morning, and it settled, too, but I’m pleased to say that it has all gone now and the sun is shining. It’s very, very cold though.

A timely reminder about the outside tap @Ladybird4 . My OH has just gone out to cover ours up and switch the tap off in the garage to protect the pipes from freezing. We usually remember in good time, but had forgotten on this occasion. It should be ok.

                    Good afternoon to you all

The sun has gone - just the day I had programmed to boil my C Pud in the slow cooker!! Anyway, it is in there now - for the day. The temperature has plummeted too but no snow in this neck of the woods.

Lovely photo @Songbird It looks like a dusting of icing sugar. I expected to see quite a few photos posted of the various areas.

I have had rescued hens too @Obelix-Vendée I imagine they will live out their days in luxury with you!!

I finished my knitting, sewed up the shoulders and pressed it. Pleased with the end result? A bit late but will be on the ready for spring! I could wear it over a polar/turtle neck jersey. Now what to do?

I hope you all have a decent Thursday and can keep warm and cosy this afternoon and evening.

Cedric saw the eye surgeon and has had Botox injected under his eyes which should help until he has the operation.

We came back the country way and there was patchy snow and some of the parked cars had an inch or two of snow on them.

It's cold here too and starting to cloud over after a sunny start, so sunny I haven't put on the heating as it's very warming as it shines directly thru the windows so I haven't put on the heating yet. I'm about to go and finish planting out Dutch iris I planted in small window boxes last year whilst waiting for the new beds and then I'll know where I have spaces for some more daffs and tulips in the rose bed. Any other bulbs will go in the big new bed.

When we adopted our first chooks just over 5 years ago @Tui34 I had no idea how entertaining they would be. Proper characters and we love their little trills, chirrups and other noises ranging from hello to what the ??, curiosity and deep contentment. And the occasional squawks when Cosmos tried to herd them.

Can't help with knitting ideas but my laidies are doing a mix of baby clothers and blankets, jumpers, sleeveless tops and socks. One is crocheting a whole series of Xmas figures which she sells to raise money for homeless cats.

Safe driving for those who have to venture out today.

Ooh that sounds horrid @Busy-Lizzie, poor Cedric. I've heard of inturned toenails but never inturned eyelashes before.

A chilly but bright day so far but no snow here. In fact as the wind had dropped, it was marginally warmer than yesterday. Enjoyed our usual walk but had to rest at the bus stop halfway and waited for OH to come back. Haven't been out since apart from refilling the birdfeeders.

Hope all of you who have to travel, do so safely.

Thanks for that @Penny_Forthem, it seems it's quite a 'thing' for car clubs to do these days.

I've just been reading on the BBC website some of the Covid notes made by the ministers during the emergency, sober reading indeed but doesn't it feel such a long time ago now? Pray God we don't get another one.

We will @lizzie27. Think the plague which swept thru several times, "Spanish" flu after the 1st world war and which was actually traced back to bird flu in a young American conscript from Kansas in early 1918 and Covid. With all the travelling people do now it's all too easy for a new virus to spread rapidly.

Have you got an appointment to discuss your breathlessness?

I hope they're not making too much mess @Ergates

Yes it did the first recorded pandemic of bubonic plague was the Justinian plague of 541, then there was the Black Death 1347 and finally the 1894 pandemic originating in China and then spreading round the world.
The London Plague of 1665 was just a little local difficulty.

The OpenReach job is finished. Now to await the engineers appointment to connect up the cable. They did a very tidy job, dug a narrow trench about a spades depth and put in an armoured cable. I took multiple photos to remind us where they were working. They had to cut a trench through the concrete path outside the front door, but have covered it over with concrete, and it all looks very tidy. They kept us updated throughout, and it was all fine. Enjoyed their coffee and cake, and were very pleasant and helpful. All went well. They just seemed so young!
I used the confinement to home to catch up on yet more paperwork. I had a list of jobs for today, and lots of them ticked off. Very satisfying.
Didn’t really warm up much today, and now it’s getting dark. Very dismal. Another early night, I think. I am enjoying the book I’m reading, so not a hardship to settle down for the evening.
Poor Cedric, interesting to hear of a non cosmetic use for Botox. Hope it helps.
I’ll have to keep an eye on the bird feeders. We had to refill them yesterday, sooner than usual, the sunflower hearts are proving even more popular with the smaller birds in this cold spell.
