Yes, @Obelix-Vendée , my appointment is on the 28th. I didn't try to get an earlier one after all as have largely felt better since. It's really odd, one day I feel fine, the next day not, so very intermittant.

Sounds a good job well done @Ergates, hope the engineer comes soon.

We decided to go to Ruthin to the garden centre. The Clwydians had a blanket of snow and looked chocolate box stunning.
Not much to buy at the GC., though I did buy an Amaryllis; one of the ones that's covered in wax and you don't need to water.
The drive home was even more pretty, with the sun reflecting off the hills.
I am reading 'The stable Boy of Auschwitz'. It's been on my list for months.

Good evening all. Boy but it has been Baltic all day today. Got to Bestie's having negotiated the usual 2 sets of temporary traffic lights and once her daughter arrived back from her first appointment she got into action and my hair is now all neat and tidy. I did leave early to get home and I have been crafting most of the afternoon. Oh and I forgot to say that TV was misbehaving again this morning, resulting in another 30 minute call to VM. Tomorrow afternoon yet another engineer is coming out and he should bringing a new box. As a sweetener, and I quote " You have been a loyal customer for over 25 years so we are going to upgrade your broadband speed and your TV package" Quite honestly I am quite happy with what I already have and I don't do any streaming etc. but I won't say no. I am hoping that this will be the end of the latest panful of faults.
@Ergates it sounds like everything has been well planned for your new installation and fingers crossed the last stage goes as smoothly. @Busy-Lizzie I hope that the botox really helps Cedric.
@Penny_Forthem I really love the sound of the homage of the classic cars and hope these memories will help with your loss. Hope the dish washer gets sorted too.

I have finished the last of the forty daisies I wanted to knit for the posy vases and with only a fortnight to go before the Fair I am going to have to work flat out. @Tui34 there are many sites on t'internet where you can find free knitting patterns so you could always start there.
I am signing out now and off to read as there is nothing I wish to watch on TV tonight. Goodnight you lovely lot and I'll see you in the morning.

Cold here too @Ladybird4 so I wimped out after checking the polytunnel, giving the chook some sunflower seeds, planting out my two troughs of bulbs and 2 pots. The last of this year's bulbs will have to wait a few more days. I'll be free on Tuesday when it'll be a bit warmer - they say.

When we had our shower room added on @Ergates, the plans indicated a trench along the middle of our terrace for the water, drains and leccy. The chaps doing the digging and foundations and services connections were very relieved when I suggested digging a trench along the edge of the terrace and then cutting a short diagonal in it to get to the water and leccy supply.

I hope the engineer finshes it all properly. Yours too @Ladybird4.

Hope you're Ok @Penny_Forthem and that Cedric is feeling more comfortable @Busy-Lizzie. Make a list of symptoms and questions @lizzie27 so you don't forget anything on the 28th.

            Sweet dreams all.

A very good morning to you all. My mobile hot water bottle snuggled up with me this morning and there was no head wrestling so maybe he's learning that that particular activity does not go down well with me - especially when my hair has just been done! A baking and crafting day for me today as I await the engineer's visit later. Wishing you all pleasant days.

Good morning all! This looks like being the last really cold morning for a while - it's rapidly clouding over, but first thing the garden looked magical, with a hard frost, birds eating windfall apples, and a "red sky in the morning" overhead. Indoor jobs, I think, after I've filled the feeders.

Interesting to hear about your chooks, @Obelix-Vendée . When I was weeding in the fenced veg garden of one of my Northumberland customers years ago, his chickens would patrol outside making encouraging noises. When I found any soil grubs, I'd post them through the fence, and the lucky chicken who got there first would express her excitement. It was very entertaining, and brightened up a boring job!

                  Morning to you all.
We had a Rufus moment last night. He was curled up by my feet, fast asleep and we were watching Fred Dibnah (he was infinitely preferable to some of the other dross on TV).
He was by a river and there was a bird 'noise' in the background; Rufus jumped up, with his head on one side. We rewound it - same thing. I've identified it as nothing more exotic than a coot. Wonder what sparked the connection in his mind.
We are doing some shopping this afternoon in the dreaded b & m. It is slightly less dreaded, as I can actually find things now, rather than wandering aimlessly up and down the isles ad infinitum. I need some new food storage boxes as, again, I have boxes/lids which have divorced their other halves!

Nothing like a bit of common sense, @Obelix-Vendée! I was very pleased that the trench diggers had already worked out by themselves that it wasn’t a sensible idea to try and dig round the roots of a very large conifer. I was hoping to catch them before they started. The previous engineers had marked up a route for the cable, but as it was raining, I hadn’t gone out to inspect it before they left, and was taken aback to find that they were suggesting going so near the tree. Especially as the current problem was probably caused by tree roots breaking the original cable.
I remember meeting with a team of architects who were designing a new health centre, to provide some input on the included dental clinic. For some reason, they had put the two sterilisation rooms on opposite sides of the building. I pointed out to them how, by swapping a couple of treatment rooms, they could have the sterilisation rooms back to back, and run all the services, like water, waste and electrics, up the same shaft. Looked flipping obvious to me, but the architects seemed to be open mouthed in awe, as if I’d put forward a fantastic and revolutionary idea! They did include in the final build. Maybe I missed my calling in life!
Is it possible that Rufus was a gun dog in a previous life, @Penny_Forthem? I believe that poor little coots are fair game to some people.
Frosty this morning, but very sunny. Need to pop to the supermarket, so a good excuse for lunch out and a walk first!

I slept late again today - OH's fault for snoring early on in the night. Very cold out there but no frost. After I tried yet again to get hold of the bank manager to restore my patch club card we finally left for the weekly shop. Chappy called me back while I was driving but hands free so it's sorted now! I don't understand why it has to go thru a central call system instead of straight to the branch concerned if they need 3 calls to motivate someone to send him a message he actually acts on.

Late lunch has been eaten and it's brilliant sun and blue skies out there and 8C. We're off to scrub the hen shed and put down fresh bedding, food and water.

@Ergates the first architect I consulted about plans for modernising our very neglected longhouse - cowshed, house and barn in one line - in Belgium decided it should be like a ship with round windows and a curved corridor upstairs. He'd clearly never put square and rectangular furniture against curved walls or curtains or blinds on round windows.

                          Hello all.

I didn't sleep very well last night. I had cramp in my foot then Cedric suddenly woke up in the night and realised he hadn't put out the garden bin so he set his alarm to get up early, then he snored, then I dreamt that my underwear had disappeared and my drawers (in the chest of drawers, not knicker type drawers) were full of Cedric's things.

It was cold this morning a frost and ice was on the puddles in the lane opposite. 4° now, white sky.

We had friends here for coffee this morning and we chatted until lunchtime.

As far as the garden is concerned I haven't been living up to my name.

I have done nothing all day, it's far too cold outside for me and I woke up with a migraine headache so feel dopey anyway. Wonder if it was triggered by the cold? Annoyed I couldn't get TV reception this afternoon for ETTC, will have to get OH to fiddle with the controls.

Looking forward to seeing son and his family over the weekend.

Good luck with the new hens Obelix.

Uneasy dreams, @Busy-Lizzie! I’ve had some real weird ones this week.
A relative had a new build house designed a few years ago, @Obelix-Vendée. Having never done it before, they were reliant on advice from the architect. Not until they were well into the build did they realise that all the windows were non standard sizes, and had to be custom made at huge expense.
Stopped at the supermarket this afternoon. The post box outside has been replaced with an all singing, all dancing one, where you can post small parcels and get a proof of posting printed out. It is powered by solar panels on the top, so sadly, that means I can no longer look forward to seeing the lovely postbox toppers that used to appear every couple of months. I suppose it’s progress and convenient, but rather a shame.

How annoying is this - both for me and the genuine recipient?
I've had 2 messages on my mobile from people telling me how many are coming to 'my' party. I called one of them to tell them she had the wrong number, but all she said was,' well that's the one that was on the invitation'!
It might have been, but it's still wrong! Meanwhile, the organiser is probably fretting that nobody's going
It was Aunty somebody's 85th! If you know her, do let her know!
                                PS. I'm not 85!!
