Interested to find out tomorrow what you thought of tonight's programme Obelix.

I must say I found it a tad bewildering and wondered whether the BBC had broadcast an earlier programme by mistake given that it's November tomorrow.

Really liked most of the segments for a change.

I agree @lizzie27 , lots of interesting items, imo.

Loved the visit to Rosemoor. Give me colour and lots of it .

Also the Manchester scheme was very interesting.
I confess to thinking "Not another one" with regards to urban greening items, but there is something uplifting about them.
I particularly liked the story regarding the conversion of someone who was not in favour of it at the beginning.

The Jekyll garden was stunning, must admit I didn't realise there was one at Hartland Abbey. Definitely one for the bucket list.

The plantsman's garden in Yorkshire had a lot of ideas for this time of year.

Finally, climate change not mentioned until around 7 minutes in (if I worked the timing out correctly).
I can't share Monty's enthusiasm for having roses in bloom until Christmas, sorry .

Rosemoor great and the GJ item interesting but I was hoping for more info on her colour theory and implementation. Loads of lovely plants in Yorkshire and I thouht the Manchester community item was more interesting than many we've seen tho they all are a success, in my book, if they get new people out there and growing and caring for the natural environment.

I like roses but, even here, they do look a bit lost and bedraggled by Xmas so not sure why Monty's so keen to have one in flower for Xmas. Not sure about those fancy tulips in grass either but will have to wait and see. As far as I know, if he wants them to survive and thrive they need planting at about 9" down and not be drowned in winter.

      8pm tonight.

"Frances Tophill is back at Damson Farm, lending a hand with autumn jobs in the garden. She learns about a clever recipe for making an architectural compost cake, plants a container with evergreens and spring bulbs, and takes hardwood cuttings from a tree with beautiful berries.

There’s a teacher who has planted hundreds of apple trees on his allotment. Nick Bailey explores the science of how sun-loving plants must adapt to survive and thrive in the shade. Sue Kent is busy at home doing some moving and manoeuvring in her borders ready for spring, and Arit Anderson is in Oxfordshire to visit a garden that blends seamlessly with its home."

My apologies everyone, I forgot to post yesterday :gaah:.
Information anyway for those who catch up on iplayer or the repeat.

"At Longmeadow, Monty is full steam ahead creating a new woodland garden from scratch. He plants up some native grasses and adds in hellebores for a colourful spring display. He also prunes a climbing rose, harvests some veg and pots up hyacinth bulbs.

Adam Frost celebrates the drama, versatility and reliability of ornamental grasses. And Ashley Edwards discovers how the Royal Horticultural Society Garden at Hyde Hall, Essex, is experimenting with growing plants that thrive in hot, dry climates.

There's a garden designer who has filled his own space with bright, bold and beautiful plants, and an acer aficionado who has 70 different varieties in her Buckinghamshire garden. "

            8pm tonight.
Not sure, but I have a feeling that this is the last in the series.

"With winter fast approaching, Monty has dahlias to lift and store, leafmould to make, and tulips and wallflowers to plant in pots. He also takes root cuttings from one of his favourite herbaceous perennials.

Carol Klein visits a beautiful garden in Oxfordshire with spectacular borders that maintain their colour and interest right through autumn and beyond. And in Essex, Arit Anderson explores a housing estate to see how a collaboration with a famous local garden has inspired far-from-typical planting.

There’s a head gardener in West Sussex who looks forward to tackling all sorts of jobs, even in the depths of winter. Plus a garden in Dumfries and Galloway that has echoes of the Himalayas."

If by "specials" they mean bits and bobs from this last growing season i'm not impressed. Nor do I want a Monty travelogue as I find his choice of gardens to visit and/or his comments when there just plain ill informed.

Give me a GH Ornamental Kitchen Garden or AT How to be a Gardener type series - well thought out, well-researched, well-planned, well executed, well-filmed and standing the test of time.

I seem to remember that last year’s winter specials were new content, not bits from previous shows. I expected them to be the latter and was pleasantly surprised :).

Either way it will be nice to still watch some garden related gardening show….particularly when one cannot get out into the garden.
