@Busy-Lizzie I think I am going down with something similar to you. I have cancelled going to the quiz tonight as I do not want to be sharing my germs with other team members.

We've just got back from my son's home and my granddaughter this morning thought she was beginning a cold - do hope we don't get it. Poor girl is due to fly to Germany on Wednesday on a week's school exchange visit, she's 14 and so excited. Driving her mother mad as she can't decide what and how many clothes to take. I did manage to talk her out of taking five large sweatshirts though! We had a lovely time even though the weather on Saturday was foul when my DIL kindly took me to a big GC for a treat. Warm and cosy in there however and of course all the Xmas goodies were on show. Too wet to venture out to look at plants however so I didn't buy anything.

I'm sorry to hear of all your lurgies, hope they're all mild ones.

            Good afternoon all!

Nothing exciting happening around here - just the usual shopping & cooking, and I'm attempting a complicated repair on a "knee rug" from the woollen mill, destined for a Christmas craft fair. I think I'll make it a fringe to finish it off, once I've mended the remaining ladders.

It must be the season for sore throats, @Ladybird4 , @Busy-Lizzie and @lizzie27 's granddaughter... hope you all feel better very soon.

                Evening everyone.

There is one more garden waste collection so just put a full bin out.

So many coughs and colds about - get the hot squash and paracetamol in folks!

Quiet evening planned - will catch up on some TV and have a ‘leftovers’ tea.

Been cold and dull here today. The cable for the new phone line has been installed last week, so we are waiting for the engineers to come to connect it up. The cable will have to run through the loft, so I spent a little while up there today, dusting away cobwebs and ensuring there is access. OH had already drilled some holes , so all ready. I was just finishing clearing up the dust under the loft hatch, when I heard a knock on the window. The engineers were in the area, and had just popped up to check the outside work had been done. Too late and getting dark for them to progress, but they have checked what they need to do, and happy that all looks ready to go. Should get done in the next day or two.
Otherwise, I didn’t get too much done, just a bit of housework and put the bins and recycling out.
Hope everyone manages to fight off the snuffles.

Thank you for all good wishes regarding snuffles everyone. I am signing out for today. Will try to get an early night as persistent coughing kept me awake a great deal of last night. Had managed a fair amount of craftwork today which is one positive thing. See you all tomorrow.

Not a good night for me either @Ladybird4 - OH snoring, Cosmos snoring then Minstrel scragging something under our bed then the sound of heavy rain. On parade at 8am to leave at 9 to get to patch for another all day workshop with me teaching 9 people who can't follow simple written instructions for an embroidery star, fabric bells and how to use a Sissix machine to cut felt shapes. Pascale was teaching 8 others how to make a winter garland, not Xmas; Frédérique taught 2 ladies how to make a simple fabric and lace advent calendar and Claudine, as ever, was in charge of all the other embroidery.

Lots of laughter and fun but I do wonder how some of the dippier ones manage in everyday life. This culminated with our 2nd oldest older lady calling the ex treasurer in a panic this evening as she thought she'd left her handbag hanging on a coat hook. Nelly asked me to call the old dear except that by the time I'd got home, put all my stuff and the shopping away then had dinner and read my mails, it was after 9pm so too late to rescue a handbag.

I called anyway and, once she understood who I was and why I was calling, it turns out she found her bag. She'd got home and put it away then panicked when she couldn't remember putting it away.............

Shattered now so I shall send OH off to the spare bedroom to snore to himself tonight and nurture his lurgy. He seem sto have pulled a muscle in his rib/sholulder area at golf on Thursday and it was making him feel ick on Friday so, clever boy, he saod nothing but went to the pharmacy for tummy medicine. By Saturday it was obvious he was uncomortable but not wanting meds so I read a minor riot act and put him on anti-inflammatories with food and paracetamol at bedtime. By Sunday he was better but not fine and grumped all day and then snored.

                      Not tonight!

Take care, all of you suffering with niggling throats and other lurgies.

I hope the cable connecting goes smoothly @Ergates and that your crafty repairs go well @Liriodendron

Hello there all. I had a slightly better night last night - was glad I had made the decision not to go quizzing. @Obelix-Vendée, your post about the 'old dears' in your group did make me smile - especially the lady who had misplaced her bag! It would definitely make great television - shades of Vicar of Dibley. Hope you had a better night too. @Ergates, I hope that you get connected with your new phone line today. It does seem to have been going on for a long time now.
Good luck with your knee rug repair @Liriodendron. What colour is it? I have 3 angels to complete and I am puzzled by the instructions as to how to make their hair. It mentions back stitch on the head - leaving a loop every second stitch which is then snipped to create 'locks'. I am hoping all will become clear as I attempt this. Luckily the angels are teeny so it isn't a vast amount of back stitching. Fingers crossed.

It's a beautiful, bright day, probably the last one for a while.
It was rather lovely to have son at home, then the family came for a vat of chilli! I slept like a log till about 4.30, then was very restless, which surprised me.
I am still waiting for my winter heating allowance to hit my bank. Hub's had his waaay before me. My letter was waaay later than his, too.
Wise decision not to go quizzing @Ladybird4

I do at patch club @Penny_Forthem but not with poor service, idiotic rules or just plain stupidity elsewhere. Not too patient with OH's behaviour on Sunday either as it cr*pped all over my birthday.

How are the new chooks settling in - especially the frail one? Hope all is well there. My winter heating allowance arrived yesterday @Penny_Forthem - hope yours has arrived since your post. I've printed and laminated a poster for our craft stall, stitched up a pair of fingerless gloves and started gathering all my bits and bobs together. I've got two lots of mini Christmas jumper bunting strings to attach felt letters spelling out 'Jingle Bells' to. Could not find my glue gun earlier so was about to have a temper tantrum and then I found it! It was where I had left it of course! :)

The poorly one is looking better today @Ladybird4 and I've let her out of her cage to explore the polytunnel which is warm and dry, so warm that I found Cosmos in there sunbathing and doing rolypolies when I stroked him. That raised a cluck or two. She's a bit wobbly on her feet but that'll improve now she can roam a bit.

Meanwhile, the other 3 are getting on fine with the white one and venturing outside so, as it's sunny and dry, I've opened the pen to see if they dare to go further. The new brown hens all have huge bald patches and tatty feathers but space, diet and fresh air will work wonders. As brown ones have visible feather patterns we'll be able to recognise individuals once they're all bonny. The only distinguishing feature of the white one is her very large and floppy comb, hence OH calls her Floppy.

Well done with your crafting. Pascale's winter garland includes mini fabric or felt muffins decorated with embroidery and buttons and topped with a knitted welt plus fabric mushrooms and natural pine cones all pegged to a natural twine string. Autumn leaves, dried chillies etc can be added and Xmassy things too if desired.
