we visited a tiny Welsh store today, which is a stockist of Welsh produce. 4 hampers on the go, to which I can add some lemon curd, sloe gin and damson brandy (small bottles each!) and maybe, if I can get my act together, some damson jam.

Sounds good @Penny_Forthem. Hope your OH is doing ok.

It's good you have the space to let the chooks roam about Obelix, I expect they find it all a little puzzling but they'll soon get used to fresh air and exercise.

Speaking of which, I had a busy day, quick visit to our nearest GC to pick up 2 bags of Cotswold gravel to repair one bit of the parking area which tried to subside into the front hedge ditch. I also bought a large bag of landscape bark to mulch the new 3 GJ rose bed - I'm trying to keep the weeds down.

Then I bussed into town, did some shopping, ordered new reading glasses and went to the hairdressers, then treated myself to the luxury of a taxi home. Too tired for the long, cold walk home from the nearest bus stop. Having an easy dinner tonight of our eggs and smoked salmon on toast as technically a 'thin' day. I decided my coffee and sticky bun for lunch didn't count!

You have been so very busy with crafting @Ladybird4, I take my hat off to you. The craft fair stall will look very tempting by the time you've finished.

Evening all. Those wreaths do sound rather nice @Obelix-Vendée and I'm so pleased that the chooks are out and exploring. Once their feathers have regrown they should look very pretty.

The hampers sound yummy @Penny_Forthem. My sis suggested I take some honey and black pepper for my cough. I don't usually drink but I had a little whisky left in a bottle from years back and I've added that plus hot water to the mix. It is a rather unusual concoction but not unpleasant. I will tell you tomorrow if it helps with the sleeping. I am signing out for this evening so I will say good night to you all.

            Hello all.
Happy belated birthday @Obelix-Vendée. Glad the new chooks are settling in.

Think I'll stick with Lemsip with extra honey and lemon juice @Ladybird4!
I have felt much better than yesterday, still coughing.

We met Ante at Thetford station this morning. He is from Croatia and likes growing lots of vegetables. He used to post on GW and has a thread here called "My Small Peace of Heaven". He is spending a few days on holiday in Norfolk.

We had a good day out, there was even some sunshine. We visited Oxburgh Hall, which was decorated for Christmas. We had lunch in a pub restaurant nearby. Ante is very nice, as I imagined him but much taller. His head almost touched our sitting room ceiling! He knew a lot of English history and we chatted about life in England and in Croatia.

                Evening folks.

How lovely to meet up with Ante @Busy-Lizzie.

I hope everyone with colds and lurgies is doing ok.

I’ve noticed a few festive trees and lights appearing in people’s homes as I drive past. Bit early?
I’m anticipating a Mexican wave of lights going up in our street this next week or so. Not me though.

Take care all and keep cosy.

@Ladybird4, had to laugh at search for the glue gun. OH was having a tantrum ester day as he wanted to get on with a job, but couldn’t find his reading glasses - which he hadn’t noticed he was wearing!
Belated Happy Birthday, @Obelix-Vendée! Shame it was disrupted, that qualifies for a second attempt at a celebration! Glad the chickens are settling in.
Out to enjoy the sunshine this morning, but saved enough energy to rake and sweep up leaves. Both green bins three quarters full and out by the road for the morning.
Had a call to advise that the engineer will arrive at 8.30 tomorrow, I’ve set the alarm in case! Hopefully that will be the end of this saga, and we will have our road and speeds back to an acceptable level.
How lovely to meet up with Ante! I didn’t realise he was posting elsewhere on here, had been a bit worried that I hadn’t seen him around. Must wish him well.

Sorry, forgot to add, belated Happy Birthday wishes to Obelix.

How nice to meet up with Ante @Busy-Lizzie, I used to enjoy his tales of all his vegetable planting.

Fingers crossed for the engineer tomorrow @Ergates. We also have to set the alarm clock for an early start, OH's new car (no. 3!) is arriving on a transporter tomorrow.

                      Good evening all.

Happy birthday for yesterday, @Obelix-Vendée ! Good to know your new chooks are getting used to their new home, and that even the poorly one is improving.

It's been a beautiful day, but too cold for gardening - it was only 2C when I went shopping at 11am. I can't really stand the cold unless I'm moving fast - which doesn't happen often when I'm in the garden. But I gave the birds clean feeders, and emptied & scrubbed the old ones, so I'll be able to reassemble them once they're properly dry. I'm happy to say we've managed to outwit the thieving magpie so far this autumn, re-siting the feeders so that the little birds have time to see the magpie coming and take cover. No piles of feathers on the lawn - not yet, anyway.

The knee rug is finished, ready to take to Knit & Natter tomorrow. It's going to be suitable for a man, I think; very warm, knitted double with a pattern in dark and light grey chevrons. It had a lot of flaws, including an unfinished end which was unravelling. Once I'd repaired it, I made a bit of a fringe to finish it off, from some spare wool.

Glad to hear that @Ante1 is OK not seen any posts from him recently.
Managed a good session on the plots today.

We have another plumbing issue, our hot tank has developed a leak. Really annoying as it's not that old, it was new when we had the boiler replaced 5 years ago. The quote to replace is a four figure sum, just as well we keep a contingency fund in reserve.

Hello everyone. The honey/black pepper mixture didn't work but give it it's due, my awakening in the early hours was due to a wonderful message from Australia. My nephew and his wife welcomed their new baby girl into the world and I am a great aunt again. I am going out with my brothers and sister/sister-in-law for lunch today with my cousin in Cheshire. Cousin felt it would be nice for all we senior members of the family to have a meet up. Surely that lets me out?? Senior - never!

Hope you are stirring @Ergates and @lizzie27 ! Connection day at last and new wheels - very exciting! The knee rug sounds classic @Liriodendron. The neutral shades will fit in anywhere.
Yikes @Allotment Boy - that is an eye watering amount of money. Would your household insurance cover that?
Glad Ante had a nice day with you and Cedric @Busy-Lizzie (got all your information on our WhatsApp).

Morning. Congrats to @Ladybird4, whom we know to be far, far too young to be a great aunt (again!)
How lovely to actually meet @Ante1, @Busy-Lizzie and to know that such friendships endure.

                              Happy birthday @Obelix-Vendée
We have an extra brown bin collection on Monday; missed collection, due to snow. Must make the most of this.
Remember me saying that people were RSVP'ing to my phone no for a party??
This morning, I had a text from 'Robin's wifey' (yes, really!) telling me how many people will be attending. I have sent a text back saying it's the wrong number.
It's Aunty Joan's 85th! It's on Saturday! If you know her, do let her know!

Morning all, well we didn't expect a hard frost at -2.6c when we woke up at 7 a.m. The transporter duly arrived and unloaded the car, a 1934 sports model - my husband's in love! I must admit it did look a bit swish.

That's really funny about the party @Penny-Forthem, just hope nobody turns up at your door!

Good news from Australia - congratulations to Great Aunt Ladybird4. Enjoy your lunch out.

Sounds a really nice rug @Liriodendron, top marks for being able to mend it. I could do with one here this morning!

@Allotment Boy, That sounds a lot of money for a hot water tank, but I suppose it includes the installation as well, what a nuisance and I bet it was just out of guarantee. Wouldn't a leakage of water be covered under your insurance like somebody suggested?
