I have washed pots in the past but now only do it for special decorative ones if they need it.
I do tend to get rid of the thin polythene type pots, but keep good quality rigid ones, especially the larger sizes.
Managed a few jobs on the Allotments today, cut down rocket, raddish and dwarf French beans. I chopped them all up and layered them into a compost bin, with woodchip, and the top part of the other bin which had gone cold and stopped breaking down. Hopefully this will heat up and compost properly.

At least something benefits from the clean glass, unlike washing the house windows were I get to see the bits I missed and nobody benefits.

Cleaning windows probably ranks as my least favourite task. You stand back and admire your work. All looks sparkling ... till next time the sun hits them, when suddenly smears appear from nowhere.

And then you get unexpected rain or sand from the Sahara!

No gardening for me today as we have a tea dance this pm and I need to stay clean. I shall limit myself to checking the chooks again later this morning. The three in the hen shed have had double helpings of their daily 3 grain rice with garlic, thyme and olive oil and the poorly one in the polytunnel has had a good feed too.

Woke up to a hard frost this morning so doubt if I'll be venturing outside any time soon.

Those chooks will soon fatten up!

They don't need to fatten as we won't be eatingthem but they certainly need to feather up! Not pretty at the mo.

Knew you wouldn't be eating them but assumed they would be thin and scraggy!

Have just dismantled the cup and saucer vines, which have done a good job of flowering for months. I was leaving them as long as possible hoping for some ripe seed pods and had pretty much given up on that, but on pulling them down I did find 3 ripe ones right at the top where it got the best sun.

                    Hi,

I've been up the garden for an hour and an half and just come indoors feeling absolutely frozen. The met off states 6C but feels like 4C; up the mountain in the breeze it felt freezing. I thought my heels were colder than usual; holes in socks don't help.

It's already getting dark but I'm pleased to have a bit more progress. Tomorrow is forecast 14C; I hope it doesn't rain then I can get a lot more done.

                    Kind regards, Col.

I showed, last week, the tree that our Clematis montana had grown up which had fallen and come out of the ground.

Since then we have cut it up and put it on the bonfire heap

and tidied up the Skimmia, Variegated Laurel and Euonymous that had been smashed down and broken.

I had managed to disentangle the remains of the Montana from the fallen tree after having cut it back.
                      upload_2025-11-26_17-37-35.jpeg

I now need to wait to see whether the Montana will recover before thinking of building a framework for it. Any ideas whether it may recover?

The next big job is to remove a contorted Willow that has started to lean

It has also outgrown the herb bed in which it is growing.

I've started my annual cutback and shred/chip.
Got a fair few things on the list but I've now cut down a magnolia I grew from seed and a variegated sycamore, both stumps will be killed off, I'm getting too old to cut these back every other year, so I'm downsizing.

@Peaceful Gardener, I forgot about winter flowering heathers! There are pink, white and red varieties I believe so may well suit your borders. Do you know if your soil is acid or alkaline though as there are different heathers for either soil?

Hope you find something to suit.

I bought some winter flowering heathers at B&Q this week, 6 for £10. I then went and left them outside in the rain still in their plastic tray so when I went to plant them out they were sodden - you could wring them out!
