They are so cute @Ladybird4 .

I wear jeans all the time in winter. I find them comfortable. I don't own pyjamas as I prefer nighties and I look awful in jogging trousers.

I got up really late this morning as Son 1 rang then Daughter 2 rang so I was on the phone for 1h30.

Then we went to the GC at Bressingham to buy a support for the future Christmas tree. I also bought another box of crackers and a pretty mug for Daughter 2. Her 3 bone china mugs have been broken over the years and she's gone off their chunky mugs.

Then we went to Morrisons and I found 2 more bone china mugs while Cedric was filling the car with diesel.

I had ordered some pretty red ballerina type shoes from a company that sells comfortable padded sole shoes. They came and they are too small. All my other shoes are in that size. I'm sending them back, hope the size bigger fits. I want to wear them on Christmas day with a red dress.

This afternoon we watched an episode of The Marlow Murder Club, just discovered the 2nd series on U.

A very good morning one and all. So sorry to hear of the passing of Tom Stoppard this morning - such a talented man. Meeting up with friends at the local GC after Church today to discuss next Sunday and arrangements for the Christmas Fair. I am sure that tea/coffee and cake will be involved! Have a super day!

          Morning.
I am most cross. Over a week ago, we got repairers in for our wish dosher. They quoted the cost of the part, I replied 'thank you, when can you fit it?' They said week beg 1 Dec. All went quiet.
I asked them this morning for an ETA to fit it.
'Oh, you didn't confirm, so we've not ordered it.'
'Did you ask me to confirm? As far as I'm concerned, saying 'thank you, when can you fit it?' constituted acceptance.'

          Silence...
They've agreed they've let us down and we should get it repaired by Friday (my deadline.)
          Mr Forthem isn't happy.

            Good Day all.

I’m with you @Penny_Forthem - I would have said and the thought the same. How annoying.

The sun is shining here so I hope it is out for you all too.

            Catch you later!

Greetings from a lovely sunny Vendée. I've been out to see the chooks and check their feed and water and have a chat and had to take off my big thick jumper. Very squelchy underfoot tho and more wet stuff expected.

Since then i've been making mini Basque cheesecakes so we can freeze the spares, a muhroom and walnut pâté for tomorrow's apéro and a lentil soup for lunch. Just having a cuppa then I need to fetch 2 salvia Violette de Nantes babies for gardening friends at patch club and after that sewing homework.

That is just a tad frustrating @Penny_Forthem and not too clever of them.

Hope everyone is safe and well and not being drowned or blown to bits. There's some not so friendly weather on the way I fear.

Good afternoon all. Wasn't around here for few months now, but it was busy period with cottage, school and few other things. As @Busy-Lizzie mentioned before this week, I spent again few days in UK, this time it was Norfolk. I had a great time, no rain at all, and sunny almost every day. Thanks to @Busy-Lizzie and her husband I had amazing last Tuesday. We visited Oxburgh Estate, and later they show me their lovely home. I was touching ceiling with my head, but it was fun.:) Thank you once more to both of you. When I find time, I'll sort photos, and will write about whole journey. Now I'm back home, and back to my usual routine. One more positive thing is that Customs officers didn't look into my luggage. That would be fun, because half of M&S tin biscuits stock was in there. :loll:

                Just one picture for now.

Good afternoon all! Cold and foggy for most of today, so after my bus rides to & from church in the next village I've been cooking, reading and knitting. Plus a video call to our excited 8-year-old grandson on his birthday.

Great to "see" you again, @Ante1 . Enjoy the biscuits!

I share your pain, @Penny_Forthem . We finally found a pleasant, efficient man to look at our problem windows and French doors; he sent us a price in the summer, which we accepted. Since then, not a peep out of him, in response to phone calls and messages.

I love your knitted decorations, @Ladybird4. Hope they sell well - they certainly should! Our knit & natter group is busy making snowmen, robins etc from pompoms, and I have more knee blankets to repair before December 13th, when we have a stall at a craft fair, in aid of a couple of charities.

No chance of gardening today, though I did spend an hour in the cold yesterday, cutting down frosted dahlias. I don't lift them - they have to take their chance in the ground over winter. Most survived last winter without protection, but it wasn't very cold. We shall see what's happened by the spring; I have more seeds to sow if they succumb.

Evening folks (well I’m saying evening as it’s getting dark).

Great to hear from you @Ante1. Oo those biscuits yes - the festive tins are fabulous!

Just back from Welsh Cakes and cuppas at MIL’s. I’ve planted some Spring bulbs in her patio pots - tulips, Daffs, crocus and Aliums. There were some leftover so I have some for me too. I’ve dropped a hint about mince pies - she makes the most delicious ones with orange pastry. I don’t like shop bought mince pies.

                    Have a cosy evening everyone.

                      Hello all.

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit, @Ante1. I don't notice our ceilings, but we are short! I like the beams in the sitting room walls and the big fireplace. Glad you got back safely and unsearched! I think biscuits are allowed. Meat, cream, cheese, fresh vegetables and plants aren't allowed.

We went to church in our village this morning as it was a rare Communion service. We walked there, not far but there was a very cold wind, despite the sunshine, and Cedric got cold so we walked home then took the car to the Christmas craft fair in the village hall. Afraid we didn't buy anything, nothing I wanted.

After that we went to the community pub in another village and had a beer. The pub was full, warm and lively. They were serving Sunday lunches. We didn't have lunch, we will have our meal this evening.

Watched GW this afternoon, I've got behind with episodes.

Evening everybody, just caught up on all your news, well done all the crafters.

Sis and her partner arrived at lunchtime yesterday after a long and rather tedious journey negotiating all the Christmas shoppers through various small towns and villages so we just sat and chatted. I was rather horrified when she told me she's spent time in hospital yesterday being investigated for possible breast cancer. She'd kept it quiet cos she didn't want to worry me. Fortunately though, she was given the all clear which is a big relief. She's back in hospital for a cardiac inversion? procedure under a general anaesthetic on Thursday so I do hope that's successful.

For the birthday dinner I roasted the M&S chicken (which was so delicious, I decided to cancel my Xmas turkey order and buy another chicken), My sis had made a sticky toffee pudding for afters which we ate with vanilla icecream and much wine was drunk! After getting up late we took them to a local GC for a light lunch. OH bought me some Darlac lightweight small shears whilst I got some grease bands for the apple trees - hope I'm not to late to put these on.

Glad the chooks are settling in well @Obelix-Vendée. The weather forecast look dire here for the next few days but we've the loft to tidy up before more visitors arrive next weekend so we'll be busy indoors anyway.

Not sure what to cook for dinner tonight - better go look in the fridge!

                        Have a good evening all.

Good evening all. Oh gosh @Penny_Forthem I would have been so cross too - in fact the voodoo dolls would be out with pins everywhere. Super picture Ante. Thanks for sharing it. I hope that you stocked up on your tea bags as well!
The GC was as expected - lots of gossip and tea and cakes. I didn't even look at plants as it was Baltic outside but I have made a note to myself to go and have a really good mooch on my own when I have a spare day. There are several outlets in this GC including Pavers Shoes, The Works, Mountain Warehouse, the Edinburgh Woollen Mill and Ponden Mill.
@lizzie27 I am not sure what a cardiac inversion is (I'll google it later) but I hope that all goes well.
Signing out for this evening. See you all in the morning.

It's electric shock therapy @Ladybird4 tho I'm not sure what it actually achieves, probably something to do with arrythmia.

The expected rain did not materialise so I paid another visit to the chooks at bedtime - one of the new ones was in Floppy's nesting box and the other two were arguing about who got which of the other boxes. There are 6 between 4 hens plus a perch bar the width of the shed so I put each hen in their own box. Lots of clucking and jumping about so I left them to work it out.

One of the pussies has been playing with my box of bobbins in the sewing room. it's normally closed with an elastic band for added security and kept in a drawer but Possum decided to clean upstair sith our robot this pm and din't do a clearance check. I now have two missing metal bobbins and a dead robot which choked on a huge knot of thread........... OH has read a minor riot act about using robots and clearing obstacles and leccy cables.

We have sticky toffee pudding for Xms @lizzie27. Love it.

Great to hear from you @Ante1! Have missed your posts.
How annoying about the dishwasher, @Penny_Forthem.
I can sympathise, @Liriodendron. Our favourite tree surgeons also have a tendency to disappear for months at a time. The problem is that they are very nice, very efficient and very reasonable, so I suspect that their long absences are because they are heavily in demand. I just have to keep sending regular reminders, and try not to take offence!
Oddly, I contacted two local companies to get a quote for adjusting the hinges on one of our doors. Both came back to say that they could come the next day! Wasn’t convenient at the time, but of course, they might not have actually turned up if booked!
Very cold, but sunny this morning. Out for breakfast and a very pleasant walk. Now catching up on laundry, while OH is glued to the tv, and the Grand Prix. I’m in a good mood, as I have two fun things organised for the end of the week! Hopefully the weather, and trains, will cooperate, and I’ll report back!
Just checked the thread, and couldn’t see this post - I’d forgotten to press ‘post reply’ so it’s a bit out of date now! Never mind. Sleep well, everyone, see you next month!

A very good morning one and all. I will be taking some of my craft items to the Church Hall this morning as there are so many things to be moved and I have a bootful of donations to send to the Ukraine so limited space in the car. I started on the GCHQ Advent puzzle on BBC Breakfast this morning. They are doing a different puzzle every day through Advent. Today's was easy. The Beeb have got their tree up in the studio already and I know that my Bestie's daughter will be on full on decorating mode from today. I am looking at the empty corner where my giant fish tank used to be and planning my next move. I hope you all have lovely days.
p.s. I meant to say thanks to @Obelix-Vendée for the explanation of cardiac inversion and also for bringing a big smile to my face talking about the chooks and the pecking order performance! :)
