Is it the greenhouse installation tomorrow @shiney? If so, hope it all goes well.

We've just had our last green bin collection, next one is 19th January so not too bad.

did a little gardening to put the last of pots, canes, wire cages etc into potting shed. Was going to do a bit of tidying up in front garden afterwards but as l was lifting the watering can, holding it by the spout to put into the shed, l han't noticed there was some water in it. It poured into my garden coat sleeve, all down the inside ...soaking my jumper... all down inside of the coat and down my leggings lol..it was freezing... and in temper l threw the watering can into the back of shed along with all the pots, canes etc as l'd had enough lol...l told husband not to open my potting shed as it will all fall out and l dont care as it can stay like that till nk Spring now lol.

I weeded the front garden bed this afternoon and planted the 12 pansies that a friend gave me. It was another lovely sunny day but I wish it didn't get dark so early.

Today was the first dry day of the week so with rain returning tomorrow it was a good opportunity to do some catching up. First I painted the side and back of the end post of my newly installed fencing which I had missed. I can’t see it from my house but my neighbour pointed it out. I thought it would annoy me too if I could see it .

I then moved an Acer which was getting too big for its location. It was about five feet tall and I expected a bit of a battle but the rootball came up quite easily with no breakages or damage. I’ve located it about six feet away in the sloping border next to the fence where it will have more space and restrict my neighbour’s view of my garden .

My lawn has become covered in worm casts so I used the back of my spring tine rake to sweep them away. I then raked the lawn to dry it up a bit. I finished by hosing down the steps and paving and relocating a potted Camellia near to my back door.

Wow, that's a long break. Last year I cut up a huge pile of old buddleia branches and fed it out into the green bin over that period.
My last collection is right before Christmas and then we only miss two before starting up again mid January.

Volunteer day at Capel Manor yesterday. I was given a Japanese Quince to repot, and to make a bamboo frame to fan train it. It ended up being the only thing I was able to do, partly because tying up the frame took a while, but mostly because as I took it out of the old pot I found a vine weevil grub. Then another, and another and so on. To cut a long story short, I ended up washing all the soil off, and sill had to probe the root ball to winkle out every last one. I lost count of how many, I would guess 25-30.
One of the student groups was nearby, so I took some to show them, typically one of the blokes said maggots very loud and was crestfallen when I said firmly NOPE try again. One of the ladies got it right, their tutor then pointed out that they were very small probably just hatched late Autumn. I then told them that the real damage would be done next spring when things warmed up and they would be more active.
Hopefully the plant will make good progress in the spring now.

Im a very happy bunny this morning :) l was sorting out my gardening books this morning a & found my ' the complete book of herbs.' & looking through it found the very thing l want for my new border for nk yr. It gives a detailed plan of scented herb borders plus ideas to make it into a scented herb Moonlight border. It sounds perfect for my area we want to make where l can see it all from my bedroom window & where we plan on putting the garden swing. Iv already got some of the 30 herbs listed and a list of 8 Moonlight herbs. Iv already got some of the white highly scented lillys, diathus, white lavender & chamomile. iI got seeds already of white forge-tme-knots & sweet rocket . l think l'll interplant the herbs with lots of early flowing bulbs. Perhaps Snowdrops & perhaps some colourful Autumn Cyclamen & a few deep red Helebores , that ll have to buy. Hopefully when my grandson clears all the area nk week, l can see what border space l will have. He can only spare one day off Uni nk week, & they forcast rain :( but l can just visualise myself resting on the garden swing in May with all the herbs , scents & the Moonlight, bliss...hopefully :)

l couldnt resist, iv ordered mix of colours & some are double flowers , of hellebore plants. They were only £35 for 9 plants ( in 9cm pots ) working out at £3.88 each ( free del plus l got cash back ) so absolute bargin. Info says they will flower from Jan to May. l will share them with my daughter who has a large garden. Husband will get me a load of hyachinths on sale on Saturday, that l'll interplant in the new circular border. l know those grow well in my soil & the squirrels leave them alone, thankfully. Snowdrops are really expensive at moment online but will see if any crocus on sale . Only the purple ones seem to grow well in my garden, not sure why. Iv already got daffs and tulips dotted about where the shrubs are that are to be cleared, so l'll just transplant them in the circular border we will be making ,hopefully next Wednesday. iv a clematis iv got to transplant though. Iv read to cut it down to about l ft & to make sure it has a good soil root ball. l dont know the name as was here when we moved in, but its a lovely maroon colour, so l hope l dont lose it. It was lovely this yr but its right where we need to the mark out the lawn area will be. Forutately all my Madonna Lillies are ok as will be hopefully in the planed border. Iv got evening primroses self seeded top of garden plus loads of self seeded violets can transplant. iv got 2 clematis called 'blue angel. that l grew from plug plants 2 yrs ago, that are in containers. . The blue petals are suppose to be illuminous in the dark,, so that why it was given its name appartenly. They will be just perfect in my Moonlight scented area. :) Hopefully it will look as good as my drawing plan lol.

We've had a dry day for a change with sunshine so I got stuck in with mulching my new 3 rose bed with bark mulch. First I had to hand weed it - yet again! Lots and lots of very tiny, brown allium bulbs, a real nuisance where you don't want them and very hard to see with the naked eye.

I really enjoyed myself and am a very happy bunny tonight.
