Spring Bulbs coming up early

Hello all I wondering if anyone can give me some advice.

I planted spring bulbs back last month of Iris reticulata, early summer flowering Dutch Iris and Crocus.

Well with no frost so far and it being continuously mild they have all poked up out of the ground. I'm a bit worried as it is only November and no where near coming up as yet, and potential frost looming will it not kill these bulbs off if we have a hard frost? I won't mind if it just stops it growing but will I loose these bulbs and they not flower next year? It is only the Iris and Crocus, nothing else has come up.

I'd appreciate any help anyone has or if anyone else has the same problem. Thanks in advance.

 

Buy some frost fleece from your local garden centre, when frost is forecast cover the shoots. Remove and dry during the day re-covering the plants at night if frosty.

 

Mine are all coming up as well. What the heck? Crocuses, daffodils, snowdrops, tulips, alliums...

 

They will just stop growing if it gets cold. Snow, frost etc, does not normally harm them.

 

My potted ones are showing. I haven't seen the ones in the ground, but that might be because all the old herbaceous stuff is still there. Other than the muscari it's only a little nose above soil level. The muscari are maybe 4 or 5 inches but it's normal for those to appear in the autumn/early winter.

 

The leaves are quite hardy. If they flower very early that might be more of a problem. Lots of my bulbs are showing already too

We never lost any spring bulbs to cold even when it went down to -20c a few years back.

 

Bulb plants know when to start in order to be ready for flowering.
My tulips always started to show first green tips in December doesn’t matter how cold or warm it was.
I saw this week that my English bluebells are also showing 2cm.
It takes in average 4 to 5 months until tulips etc. are ready for flowering.

 

Not bulbs, but can swear I saw a camellia in blossom.

 

My Camellia sasanqua hybrids have all finished flowering. Typically they bloom December through to February.

 

My C. japonica produced its first flower in late November, now covered in flowers. Usually January here.

 

I didn’t think Camellia come out until February, I’m pretty certain that Titchmarsh geezer off the box, said that Camellia is the starting pistol for spring?
